Too busy ; books an appointment then no follow up for months. Had a miserable infection, she did order more extensive testing when the first round of antibiotics did not work they refused to schedule me for a follow up appointment for more than a month. Ended up back at Tower Urology. Skip this office, she wants to retire , her NP is medically worthless cant even do instillations, staff told me they had my records, I drove an hour after months of waiting for follow up . They did not have the records she did nothing but literally take my money . This dr wants to retire and at this point is doing more harm than good by staying in such a chaotic office only contributed to the agony of dealing with a chronic infection. Did not even take a culture or examine me on the last long awaited visit. Waste of what little energy I have left after dealing with an infection six months . Better off sticking with Tower Urology at least Tower is compassionate and the office doesnt lose your records; this Sherry Thomas time to retire for me she was a waste of energy, money, time and had the nerve to charge $30 to send lab results to Tower while I still had an active infection and she couldnt schedule me for a follow up for over a month. I'm not very good at writing reviews but I wanted to thank Dr Thomas and all her staff. You see, last year I went through Cancer and surgery to remove it. Shortly afterwards, my Bladder Prolapsed. Of course, I was apprehensive about meeting a new doctor and having another surgery. Then I met Dr Shirley Thomas and she immediately made me feel like I was going to be OK. She explained the procedure in detail and then put me through all the tests I needed before surgery. The surgery went really well. If I could give her 10 stars, I would. When my mother became bedridden her own doctor, Dr. Patricia Lanter offered no help with her own patient in either doing the simple procedure herself or offering any advice on who could help. I contacted Dr. Sherry Thomas and without hesitation she came with her wonderful nurse Shirley to my mothers care home to do the minor procedure on her own time, free of charge! I am looking for a new Dr. so I called Dr. Thomas' office. I was informed by receptionist that she is taking only Medicare patients, otherwise she charges as "out-of -network" for anyone else. Additionally, the receptionist explained that she charges $800 up front, which does not include labs.......Who can afford this after the cost of all the Insurance Premiums?? I think it is safe to say that my experience with this doctor has been the worst experience of my entire life. And that is decades. She was rude, arrogant, bullying, and just basically horrible. I'm writing this to help others. Had I known from someone else that I was walking into this kind of a situation I would have spared myself the agony, the one hour drive each way, risking my health because of delays, and the incessant bashing and abuse. If you don't do what she tells you, at every turn, she tells you that she's not the doctor for you and you can leave. Absolutely disgusting. I drove an hour to get there and an hour back and ended up leaving before my cystoscopy because it was her way or no way. I am so disgusted with this woman it's unbelievable. I have trouble calling her a doctor. She has a Russian assistant who claims to be a doctor in russia. Dr Thomas was trying to pawn me off to her Russian assistant to treat me, claiming that her assistant is a doctor in Russia and just doesn't want to get her medical license here. Of course, I refused. On a final note, because I have injuries to my body, my primary doctor prescribed me medicine to relax my muscles so that it would make it easier for this doctor to work on me. But her only intent was to get her way and once again insinuate that if I didn't like it I could leave. Leaving my health in danger because of the situation at hand. She has practical solutions for repeat UTIs, diagnosed another problem none of my prior doctors had identified (lichen sclerosus - which can have really bad scarring if left untreated) and the vaginal laser rejuvenation treatments worked wonders. She's very nice- Shirley her nurse/office asst(?) is her wingwoman and they're quite the comedic duo. Entertaining while getting awkward procedures done so it's done in a snap. She doesn't do surgery anymore (back issues) but she's on the cutting edge of laser innovation- don't settle for thermi or other fakes for matters of the gynecological variety- she's got this laser called imogen that's 10x more effective even though it's got zero marketing at the moment. She also encourages natural healing over pills and scalpels and thus, is slow to invoke drastic medical intervention like a surgical rec. it's a pro or a con depending on your ideals. I think she's a wonderful dr with tons of experience, passion, care, and even altruism (she goes to Africa to help kids with congenital issues, a la gratis- awesome!). Her heart is in the right place and her knowledge is expansive. She provides an accepting, no judgement attitude and has a pleasant overall affect, as does her partner "in crime," Shirley. Personally I would have appreciated a faster, more drastic, more effective remedy for my obscure yet very life-limiting gyn problem, but in retrospect I am glad that she made me exhaust all options before opting for surgery with another doc. Perhaps I'll heal better from surgery bc of all the treatment prep she's done with the lasers and kegerator exercise. I've had a recurring infection for years and I've seen 4 different doctors for this same problem. Finally I found Dr Thomas. She listened to me. She went over all my records. She explained a course of action with reassurance that I would get better. She was patient, and she put me on the road to recovery. Went to Dr. Thomas today for a yearly well woman exam. I am a new patient. I made my appointment several weeks ago, filled out the paperwork they sent me in the mail, and arrived on time for my appointment. Once there, I gave my insurance cards to the Office Assistant and signed the Arbitation Agreement. What came next was quite a surprise. I was sent home with the explanation that Dr. Thomas does not accept new patients for well woman exams. I hope the doctor is more competent then her office staff. Personally, I do think the doctor should have seen me as long as I made the effort to drive to her office especially considering the mistake was made by her staff, not me. read more

Dr. Thomas is an outstanding and caring doctor. I have been her patient for approximately 25 years. It is not hyperbole to say that she literally saved my life. In February 2007 she discovered a lump in my left breast, and even though the needle biopsy came returned benign, she insisted I see a surgeon for additional observation. Long story short, because of Dr. Thomas's diligence, I had a surgical biopsy shortly thereafter that proved positive for cancer. Because of Doctor Thomas's dedication and caring, I caught the cancer early and required only radiation and Arimidex/Tamoxifen chemotherapy. Now, 8 years later, she is helping me again, this time using laser to elevate the drying effects caused by use of those same chemo drugs. For patients like me, who cannot use an estrogen cream to relieve dryness, this treatment is a godsend. And in Dr. Thomas's capable hands the treatment is painless and noticeable results are apparent after the first treatment. Dr. Thomas is amazing! She treats a lot of M.S. patients that have various bladder dysfunction issues, including myself. She treats me with a type of acupuncture as well as medication. I was referred to Dr. Thomas by my Internist, Dr. Dahlin, for treatment for urinary incontinence and resultant infections . Dr. Thomas is unique in her training as a Board Certified Gynourologist allowing her to treat women with these inter- related health problems. She has utilized state- of - the -art equipment to treat the underlying causes of UTI discomfort and danger. Along with her staff , she has made the appointments and treatment an opportunity for education. Dr. Sherry is my miracle worker! I was under the care of a well known OBGYN in the area, which didn't listen to my voice as to how bad I was feeling with an UTI and getting my period 2-4 times per month. I didn't have a quality of life. That's when a friend referred me to Dr. Thomas. I made an appointment the next day. Dr. Thomas sat with me and LISTENED to my symptoms and she knew exactly what was wrong with me but ran exams to confirm. The results of all my exams matched and confirmed exactly what she thought. I had to under go a partial hysterectomy at the age of 38. Dr. Sherry knows her stuff. She delivered my diagnoses in a professional and compassionate manner. Leading up to the surgery, she explained everything she was going to do. She put me at ease and I was a lot more comfortable with the process. Dr. Thomas is such a caring person. Her priority is her patient! After my surgery, she gave me her cell phone, to call her with any problems or questions. What doctor does that? Not many! My experience with Dr. Thomas was not good at all. There are various reasons why I would not go back to her. On my initial appt. I had to wait 2 hrs until I was seen. When she finally came in, there were 2 assistants with her which I found a bit strange. I am a 70 year old woman of generally good health but having urinary issues I wanted to check. I was diagnosed with stress incontinence and was told that the laser rejuvenation she does is my only option costing $3000 upfront. She also gave me a sample of premarin to try. After using premarin for 3 days, I was in major vaginal pain. I went back and had to wait again over an hour. I was told that I should be using a compounded estrogen as the premarin irritated me because of the preservatives in it. She did a bladder test at the time and I was called to say that I have a rare bladder infection which they treated with antibiotics. While taking the meds my vaginal area was so sore it felt like sand paper between my legs. I asked to speak to the Dr. and was told she does return phone calls. The nurse recommended I use an over counter yeast cream. The the pain did not subside I insisted they see me and that I did not want to wait over 1 hr. for the Dr. They saw me relatively faster that time and the Dr. said that I might have a yeast infection from the antibiotics. They did a test and called back and said no yeast infection. Desparate, I went to my Dr. in Santa Monica who did a DNA test for yeast and found I did have an yeast infection. She has a women's health practitioner in her office and they gave me various prescriptions to help with the pain and irritation. It did help to calm things down. I am still dealing with the atrophy, etc that older women suffer from, using a natural base estrogen cream but I do feel heard and cared for by my current Dr. I felt Dr. Thomas could care less and just wanted me to do her laser treatment. read more

I find Dr. Thomas has contempt for her patients, she keeps you waiting as if her time is more important than yours, I understand that Doctors have emergencies and I give allowances for that but no matter what time your appointment is you wait, I asked for the first appt. of the day and I still had to wait 45 minutes. I was having trouble with my pesary, it needed to be cleaned, the first time I went she said I had to leave it out for a week, as I had a sore, and I would have to wait a week or two to have it reinserted this happened 3 times as to where I was going every 2 months, the last time I told her I wanted it reinserted then and there and she refused. I have had this procedure taken care of by a wonderful Dr. at Duke University in NC one of the top Medical facilities and I never had this problem. Either it was being inserted incorrectly to create this problem or it was not a problem. But I found Dr. Thomas to be very combative and that she knows everything. Her bedside manner needs much to be desired. I have lived all over the world and always researched my doctors and Dr. Thomas does not impress me, she may be good for Urinary infections ad bladder lifts but for my condition she does not score well.
