This was a first time glass class for all of us. After the common safety recommendations, Justin did an amazing job showing us basic techniques (suitable for our novice level). He helped us shape our designs when asked. This was a very hands-on, creative playing experience! Recommendations: -Wear work clothes and sneakers (it gets hot!). -Bring a drink and empty your tank (bathroom on site). You'll be at our station standing for quite some time. -Come with an idea of what you want to make. -Have an open mind and as Justin says, let your adult self go. Just play. -Be ready for a satisfying and simultaneously aggravating process. -Bring your sense of humor! -Your glass creations will take at least 24 hours to cool down in the kiln. She did a great job of explaining the process and all materials were neatly organized. Safety was definately top of the list. Its not a very big room but enough to sit a party of maybe 8ish...maybe more not sure. All I know is that cutting glass was very relaxing. You can be as creative as you like and the instructor is there to assist if needed. Please be advised the resin has to be poured and dried so you are not able to take art with you. The Island Art Association Gallery is a beautiful facility located off the main historic district…read moremain street in Fernandida Beach. The gallery is located on second street. The outside of the building is covered with colorful tile artwork that wraps around the building. There is also a beautiful and welcoming courtyard with two tables containing umbrellas for shade, as well as four benches throughout the courtyard. The inside gallery houses the art of 50 local artists. It is a non-profit volunteer organization that displays the beautiful artwork of the local artists for sale, and also offers art education classes. It is a must see if you are in the area visiting Fernandina Beach.
