We tried Julie's Kitchen and overall had a good experience. It is run by a husband-and-wife team, and the lady there was very, very friendly. The service was good, and that really stood out. The food was good overall. The kids liked the katsu rice and the Spam musubi, and the loco moco was good too. The lumpia was a little different from the small traditional kind I'm used to, but it was still good. My sister did not like the poke, but her husband did. My sister said it was a bit too salty for her, but that just came down to personal taste. Overall, it was a warm and welcoming spot with good food and kind service. I was waiting for my tires to be replaced. I got hungry and walked across the street and saw Julie's kitchen. I went in and found out that it's a Filipino - Hawaiian restaurant. When you look up on the menu, it's pretty bare. The full menu is on the print out on the left hand side. This is a pretty small place. It can sit around 10ish dine in customers. Located in such a decrepit plaza this gem is a standout. Constant traffic, many in the military, so their efforts are not lost. With a daily changing selection it's difficult to choose between items. This time we went with picadillo, sweet and sour spareribs and pancit. All delicious with plenty of sauce for the rice. Julie is hustling serving everyone coming through the door, but always greeting each new customer and thanking us as we leave. A little bit drive from Monument but 100% worth the drive. It is located in a small strip mall. All local kine foods. As the restaurant seemed busy with a lot locols now about this place. Little seemed to enjoy the Mac salad h even ate all mine. I ordered the shiracha chicken and he had musibi and chicken katsu. All the food was delicious and brought us back to the island. This review is NOT based on service at all, the staff was very very friendly and the place had good vibes. There was also a lot of seating. The food is pretty bad. The lechoń had potential but ZERO flavor, not even salt. It was also pretty dry, that had the best flavor though. The lumpia was terrible, the filling was just off and probably not the freshest... The spam was also just strange, way too much rice that was just gloopy and lacked flavor too. I would not return here unfortunately. I really wanted to like this place, especially with the high rating. But it just wasn't that good. We ordered a plate with 2 sides (lechon and pork adobo), lumpia, and a ube mochi dessert. I did appreciate how crispy the lechon was but the pork adobo was so salty that it was inedible. The lumpia is ok, overly greasy and nothing special. This place is legit. I lived on Oahu all my life and just recently moved to the springs and the closest thing to local food is L&L which doesn't cut it. If you're from Hawaii you know we don't even eat at the L&L there so on the mainland it's pretty junk. Plate lunch servings and the Filipino food is bomb too. This spot is a hidden gem! Even though it's in a shopping center, the quality rivals that of a fine dining restaurant. Their poke bowls are fantastic, but a warning skip the spicy option unless you want it overwhelmingly hot. I love spice, and even I struggled with it! Came here right when it opened and the line for this place was a bit long. Was recommended this location from a friend that visited Hawaii often and loves Hawaiian food. It's a simple mom and Pop shop with tables and chairs. Got the musubi and the Hawaiian style Ahi poke. The spam musubi was made fresh since I came in early so the rice was warm and it paired very well with the spam and seaweed. The poke was fresh with a light but flavorful sauce and the onions gave it a nice crunch. A lot of the customers in front of me got plate lunches and will be something I'll try in the future. They do have some desserts by the counter if you're in the mood for something sweet. When I was there, there were some mochi and UBE flavored desserts. Would recommend visiting here. read more

I'm visited Colorado to see a friend but I officially miss Julie's Kitchen more than my friend. This is the most cozy mom and pop type of restaurant. The food is so delicious and came out still hot and steaming. I ordered the katsu plate and spam musubi and I teared up eating it. Personally, I think the area in general doesn't have the most flavorful foods so the food at Julie's Kitchen was a refreshing mouthful of deliciousness. Now that I'm back home, I've been badly missing the katsu plate. We are visiting from out of town and per Yelp reviews this looked like a good place to try out. The inside is small, however, they quickly made up for it by faster service. It was busy from the time when they opened until we left about 45 minutes later. You could tell a lot of people were regulars because their orders were recognized by the owners. This was our first time and the menu can be a bit overwhelming if you're not familiar with the food. Stuck to some of the pictures loaded on here by other Yelpers and found it to be the perfect recommendation. I got the Pork Kalua with Cabbage. Great flavor, a little on the greasy side, and plentiful portions. Only con is the inside is a bit lackluster and you needed a key for the restroom (which isn't convenient if you have kids and the restaurant gets busy). Bathrooms weren't super clean either but manageable. Overall it was a great value, quick service- better for to go than to stay for the ambiance. read more

Came here to try the Sisig, and was super hungry and so I got the Chicken Katsu Moco as well. Both were very tasty and filling. The fried eggs with it is what makes it perfect. I came here on Labor Day weekend, so it was busy, but the quality was still great how busy it was. These items are "made to order" so it takes a little longer, and if there's a line, expect it will take longer, but they did get to it at a good time for how busy it was. It has the mom & pop shop feel in the restaurant. Nice employees and clients. Plenty of parking, with a whole in the wall feel away from other restaurants. My mistake was to order the Lechon Sisig mild spice... There were no peppers in it, which should be a thing for Sisig, so I'll be ordering the hot spice next time. read more

If you live in Colorado Springs, you know there aren't many Filipino/Hawaiian options. When I Yelped it last year there were two options; Julie's and L&L. Bf and I decided to give it a try and we instantly fell in love. The prices to portion ratio is generous; we think Julie can stand to raise her prices and people would definitely pay for it! I like doing the plate options, usually with Kalbi ribs and Korean chicken. I've also had the Kalua pig and cabbage, chicken katsu, and loco moco. All have been delicious! Julie's husband, Romeo, makes everything fresh! There are also pre-made, hot items available and vary day to day. Don't be afraid to ask Julie what something is; she will kindly let you know! Bf has ordered several hot items and enjoyed the picadillo! Our absolute MUST though, is the lechon (roasted pig)! The skin is crispy and salty and combined with the fattiness of the pork, it's HEAVEN! We honestly have not found a comparable lechon in Arizona, sadly. There can be a wait, especially on the weekend. We went on Saturday just before noon, and they'd only been open an hour and there were 20-30 orders/45 minute wait! Best to call ahead and order, ESPECIALLY if you want lechon! We got the LAST of the lechon and it was only noon! As other Yelpers have mentioned, check their Facebook page for the latest menu but do not order via Messenger (didn't even cross my mind but apparently it's happened several times). I've been here quite a few times but always forget to take photos. The food here is authentic and delicious. I have tried both the Hawaiian fare and Filipino but typically go for the latter since it's quicker and based on what they have available that day. Every dish I've had is good and I especially like their lumpia and also their lechon which is crispy pork belly. The portions are very generous! They also have some desserts like butter mochi and cassava cake which are all tasty too. Definitely a place worth visiting. The owners are friendly and helpful. read more
