Unfinished window .. what a mess

We hired Julz through Lowe's. Even though I am very happy with the cabinet installation (their cabinet installation guy can do incredible things!), I don't recommend hiring them because of all the other issues we had with them. First of all, they rarely answer the phone, so it is impossible to know what is happening and when. When they do answer the phone, they just take a message and say they will call back. They rarely do. I have posted a photo of the unfinished window they left in my kitchen. Does that look professional to you? I have been asking them to finish the window so that I can install countertops. No response from Julz .. They also cancelled one of the vents from the central heating system. An active duct has been left by Julz inside the kitchen ceiling. I have been calling them for over a month asking to install a vent. They did promise to do it (initially), but they stopped responding to my calls as soon as they got the majority of the payment. This has been a very stressful experience. I have to keep calling and emailing them only to be ignored. I would have at least expected better and more direct communication. I am posting this review because I have no other choice. Hopefully they will see and maybe come back and finish the job.

    21" Pantry Cabinet Damage

Julz Corp, as the only installer Lowe's offers, created a 7-week delay on my cabinet install. Install was quoted for 6/21-6/24 (4 days). Here's how JULZ caused the delay, including causing damage to 5 out of 26 of my cabinets (total cabinet costs over $3k for those 5). 1. The installer asked my plumber to come back to move the gas line for the oven cabinet installation. This was unnecessary. 2. The installer cut the farmhouse sink cabinet so poorly, that we had to order more trim so he could hide the bad cut (4-week delay) 3. The installer was 2.5 hours late to the site when he specifically asked my plumber to come to finish the island sink lines before he secures the island cabinets (unnecessary, again), but we needed the installer here to remove the cabinets for my plumber to do this work. 4. The installer didn't show up on 6/24 at all. 5. Installed the wrong cabinet pull on a pantry door, had to order a new door, which was incorrectly communicated to Lowes, wrong door ordered, 2-week delay. 6. Installed multiple cabinet pulls crooked. All in all, the install went from 6/21 to 8/11 until JULZ was finally done with their install. JULZ tries to pass blame onto the customer for these delays and doesn't take any responsibility/accountability for the inexperience/lack of workmanship for the install. Because the installer couldn't get the lower cabinets installed in a timely manner, my quartz installer couldn't template to begin fabrication until early JULY (2-week delay). In addition to taking 7 weeks to install cabinets quoted for only 4 days, the installer damaged the cabinets in the following ways: 1. Sink cabinet cut 2. 24" Pantry cabinet - damage to the edge of the cabinet too deep for the markup pen to cover (actual wood damage) 3. 24" Pantry cabinet - the installer cut a hole in the back of the cabinet for access to the junction box (electrical) on the wrong side of the cabinet. Had to get skin to cover it up. More damage that goes to show the inexperience/lack of care the installer uses on BRAND NEW cabinetry. 4. 42" base cabinet - same as #3 above, cut a hole in completely wrong location for access to a junction box, had to get skin to cover the damage. Also damaged the pull-out rail for this cabinet with that cut. 5. 21" Pantry cabinet - damage to the edge of the pantry cabinet too deep for the markup pen to cover, had to use trim (ordered more) to cover his damage. 6. Damage to my soffit edging. 7. Bad cut on oven cabinet that ALSO had to be hidden with more trim pieces. I had requested an inspection from the GC at JULZ, and got Isaac (the manager, not the licensed GC). When I pointed out all the damage to my BRAND NEW CABINETRY, his excuse was "well [installer] will cover it up when he's finished". Why should a customer have to have damage just covered up on BRAND NEW CABINETS? I now have NO access to the two junction boxes covered with the skin pieces unless I remove the entire skin pieces. In addition, their estimate (that I PAID through LOWE'S) included installation of "Temporary Sink and Countertop". When I questioned JULZ about when the temporary countertop, also known as plywood tops, would be installed, they said they "NEVER" install the temporary countertops! THEN WHY DID I PAY YOU TO INSTALL THEM? This ultimately cost me another $1,000 paying someone else to install them. YET, JULZ refuses to reimburse me the extra costs. So, I ultimately paid JULZ and a secondary person, for the same service. Don't charge me for a service, then NOT PROVIDE IT! The installer and JULZ Corp pass blame and use excuses to cover up their poor workmanship. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Pay an actual cabinet installer who cares about his workmanship, cause JULZ sure doesn't. And this doesn't even touch on the scheduling nightmare they are and lack of communication. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

He was courteous in texting me prior to his early arrival, just to make sure it would be ok. I love when people arrive on time and provide updates on ETAs. A red flag for me is when someone fails to give me an update or shows up much later than the estimated time. The way I see if, if someone doesn't respect your time, then it's a "no" to having them come out. Dan completed the work within an hour and charged us 1/3 of what this other company was going to charge. Amazing! Dan works alone, which I like because what I've found is that the large companies with many employees, the quality of work isn't really a guarantee. Because Dan works alone, he makes sure he does a great work and that his customers are happy. After the work was completed, he cleaned up the area and showed us the hairline crack causing the leak. He even recommended someone to repair the stucco. It was such a pleasure having Dan coming out. We now have a couple of plumbers we trust to be honest and not take advantage of stressful plumbing situations. Thank you so much Dan!!!

He was able to fix our toilet within less than an hour and had a good sense of humor about it, LOL! The value was the service was HONEST. Fairly priced and honestly have had other plumbers out, Winder Plumbing by far is the best service we've received. I highly recommend them!

I…read moreoriginally intended to wait about three months for this review, "to make sure that everything was alright". Now we're at the seventh month mark and let me say that every day I am grateful for the work that Peterson Plumbing did on our home. Peterson Plumbing did a complete replumb with PEX. In a word, Thomas is awesome! We were initially skeptical when he offered the lowest estimate for repairs and did so over the phone without coming out to the house. My wife had talked with him first when getting quotes. We had the plumber that had been servicing our home for the past five years. Their quote was about four thousand higher. Another estimate from a local plumber was double of Thomas'. I reached out to Thomas and expressed my concern about him doing an estimate without coming out. He said he lived in the area and knew the homes; he even swung by after his day was done for a quick meet and greet. His estimate stood at what he stated. Even with a record 86 drywall holes in our house; Thomas said that typical replumbs have about 35 holes. Now for the things that we found out that he and his staff did not share with us. We have hot water quicker at every faucet in the house, except one. When they replumbed, they did so more efficiently than the original piping with backbone of the plumbing being between the first and second floors. The master shower used to take over a minute to get hot water, now it's less than 10 seconds. The kitchen was about 30 seconds, now it's about 15 seconds. The downstairs bathroom stays at about 15 seconds. Plumbing took one day. Drywall repair took two days. Thomas told us it would take one or two depending on how much repair work needed to be done. Every step of the way Thomas stayed within the guidelines that he outlined for us and never came to us with extra or hidden charges, despite being the least expensive estimate. Thomas went above and beyond as well. At no charge, he redid our pool fill which had been non-operational since we moved to the house over 10 years ago. He also swapped to valves for the shower and sink faucets in the master bathroom. He also replaced a damaged aerator and ordered the replacement part from Delta himself. I didn't even know until the package arrived and he phoned to swing by and install it. If you're looking for an honest plumber who stands by his work; Thomas is your local plumber!!! Don't hesitate. I have referred Thomas more than any other local business.
