I'm extremely disappointed with my experience with PDS Plumbing & Air. I called them because my AC was not working during a very hot week, and I have children in the house, so getting the system running again was extremely important. Their technician came out, diagnosed the problem, and told me that my transformer and capacitor needed to be replaced. I was quoted approximately $1,155 for the repair. I understand that companies have overhead, technicians need to be paid, and businesses need to make a profit. I have absolutely no problem paying a fair price for professional work. But in my opinion, this quote was outrageous. What bothered me even more was that the technician told me the parts for my AC unit were backordered, making it seem like they were difficult to get. That turned out not to be true in my experience. I was able to locate and purchase the parts myself that very same day. So I honestly don't understand why I was told they were backordered when I had no problem getting them immediately from a local supplier. I'm pretty handy myself, so instead of agreeing to the repair, I decided to purchase the transformer and capacitor myself. As shown in my receipts, I paid less than $80 total for the parts. One receipt shows $32.61 for the transformer, and the other shows $42.40 for the capacitor -- $75.01 total. What makes this experience even more frustrating is that replacing those parts did NOT fix my AC. After doing additional troubleshooting myself, I discovered that the actual issue involved the low-voltage circuit. I eventually tracked down the problem myself and got my AC running again. So not only was I quoted over $1,100 for a repair involving parts that cost me about $75, but I was also told those parts were backordered when I was able to purchase them the same day, and after replacing them, the AC still didn't work because that wasn't the actual problem. I understand there is much more to a professional service call than the cost of parts. You're paying for labor, experience, insurance, vehicles, overhead, and a company standing behind its work. But there is still a point where pricing feels excessive, especially when the proposed repair does not address the actual problem. What really disappoints me is that when someone calls an HVAC company during extremely hot weather, especially when they explain that they have children in the home and need their AC working, they are relying on that company to give them an accurate diagnosis and a reasonable repair option. In my experience, that is not what happened here. Based on my personal experience, I would not recommend PDS Plumbing & Air. I strongly encourage homeowners to get a second opinion and compare pricing before approving an expensive HVAC repair. I'm attaching my receipts as proof of what I actually paid for the parts. The transformer and capacitor together cost me $75.01, and I was able to purchase them the same day despite being told the parts were backordered. I'm glad I was ultimately able to troubleshoot the low-voltage issue myself and get the AC running for my family, but I shouldn't have had to diagnose the actual problem myself after receiving a professional service call and being presented with a $1,155 repair quote. read more

I am writing this review about PDS Plumbing & Air. I have to say that Mario, the employee they sent over to service our AC unit seemed very knowledgable about his job. I realize he could only offer to do so much within the rules of the company he worked for, but we were grateful for his honesty. He did not try deceive us into paying for an entirely new AC unit as a contractor who came by just before him did. Instead, he went right to work by replacing the capacitor and activating the unit first to see if the AC compressor even needed replacing. Thankfully, it didn't. Our AC stopped working, yet Mario did not rush the job even though it was very hot that day. He first ran a meter test to make sure the thermal switch inside the compressor was making contact before replacing the capacitor. Then he then proceeded to reactivated the AC and and check the temperature of the inside vents to see if cool air was coming out them properly. After he established that it was, he then offered my mother a senior discount, knocking the price for the new capacitor down from $497.00 to $397.00, which we were very grateful for. He was also very polite and easy to get along with and took the time to answer our questions. I just wish there were more contractors out there that were as sincere and knowledgable as he was. If you decide to use this company, ask for Mario. I decided to give the company PDSPlumbingAndAir.com 4 out of 5 stars because their intitial ad said they provide free estamates, but when we spoke to them over the phone, they said they charge a $79.00 dollar "Evaluation Fee" which would only be waved if we hired them for a job, meaning if they charge a price beyond what someone can afford, the potential customer would still owe them $79.00 dollars. ----------- J. I not once felt pressured to buy and get services of any sort. He didn't even mention anything until the end. He went over all the services we require and nothing seemed overpriced. The technician insisted that the entire faucet needed to be replaced and quoted $630 to procure and install it. When I questioned the cost and offered to go to Lowe's myself to purchase the faucet and bring it to him, his tone immediately changed and he started back-pedaling, which raised red flags. Based on the interaction, I did not feel comfortable proceeding and asked him to cancel the work. I still paid the $79 assessment fee. I later sent a handyman to the property, who found the actual issue in minutes: a loose hose under the sink that simply needed to be tightened. No faucet replacement was needed at all. We had water leaking from the toilet in our master bathroom, so I submitted service requests through Yelp. PDS Plumbing and Air responded quickly and was able to send someone out the fastest, so we went with them. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from start to finish. When the technician arrived, I tried to explain the issue, but he seemed disinterested and disengaged. He removed the toilet, replaced the wax seal, and said it was fixed. He also checked the main water valve outside and told me the pressure was high--possibly due to a failed water regulator. He quoted $1,500 to replace both the regulator and shutoff valve. When I hesitated and said I needed to think about it, he immediately began pressuring me to approve the work on the spot. My wife explained that we're going through a difficult time right now--she's battling breast cancer and we're on a fixed income. His response? "Plumbing issues don't care what other issues people are having. They need to be fixed before things get worse. Can I go ahead and swap these out for you?" We declined and asked for the quote instead. He then claimed that unless we replaced the regulator and shutoff valve, the wax ring warranty would be void--which is just plain false. High water pressure has nothing to do with the wax seal on a toilet. Two days later, the toilet started leaking again. This time I did a more thorough search and called a different plumbing company. Within five minutes of arriving, their tech pulled the toilet and immediately found a slab leak underneath--something the PDS tech completely missed. The lack of attention to detail, the misinformation, and the hard-sell tactics are all unacceptable. I wish I could give PDS Plumbing and Air negative stars. I now have a reliable plumbing company I trust--but it's definitely not PDS. read more

Couldn't ask for best customer service from PDS. My wife and I had a blower motor in one of our attack furnaces fail that caused very loud rattling and shaking of the unit. Enough to potentially dislodge our gas line! After battling with our home warranty company (AHS) for over a week we decided to contact PDS directly because we have a 2 month old newborn in our house and American Home Shield couldn't have been less helpful. Insert PDS. Their service tech Brian was at our home with 1 hour of our initial call and we explained the whole issues to him. He did a full system evaluation and showed us not only where our immediate issues were but where we could have potential issues in the future. Brian was extremely personable and professional. He provided repair options ranging from simply fixing the immediate issues through a full system overview. Because we have a 20 year old system in our home he advised on replacement options as well. His field manager Marcus arrived with 30 minutes and walked my wife and through all of the replacement options for a new unit without any high pressure sales tactics or anything. After looking further into the repair options Brian called around for parts and due to the system being older one of the parts needed to be special ordered and would come with a $1400.00 shipping fee. Without hesitation Brian pivoted and helped us come up with a more realistic option and was patient with my family and I answering all of our questions and even contacting his leadership to help workout the best fix possible. If you have any HVAC issues in the Temecula Valley area I couldn't recommend PDS plumbing and air more. Ask for Brian. read more

I contacted PDS through Yelp to take a look at my leaking secondary drain. Mario and Jorge were my initial techs. They did a full inspection of my system and communicated with me professionally and throughout the process. They found that my evaporator coil was about 95% clogged, and heat exchanger was separated and leaking water. They immediately called their manager Marcus who came over to inspect the heat exchanger. We found that my system needed to be replaced. Marcus went over all my options for financing and helped me make the best decision for my family and system.
