I really want to love this place as I've been here about three times now, and each time I've left a little underwhelmed by the drinks. I've tried a few different ones, but I keep wishing for more depth in flavor... like the earthiness of matcha or the brightness of citrus to really come through. It's especially disappointing considering I commute quite a ways to get here. That said, the shop itself is super cute! I love the decor and the cute little Photo Booth inside! it's a cozy little tea spot with so many matcha options, probably the most I've seen in Houston. The service has always been great too. The staff is friendly and helpful with recommendations, which I really appreciate. I haven't found the one yet, but I'm not giving up. We knew we had to get Junbi while we were in Houston for the weekend. They had a seasonal drink -- Pandan Matcha Latte and it was so refreshing! Of course, I had my usual Blended Dirty Matcha. Before we left town, we also got some of their delicious rice balls. They were perfect for the drive home and tasted really fresh. The space is so cozy and I love that they have board games we can play if we want to stay a while. There was also a photo booth for those who wanted to take pictures and have them printed out. Junbi is one of the only spots on the west side where I can find hojicha so it's been my go to when I'm out of powder and I can't make it on my own. I usually get the hojicha latte with cold foam, oat milk and light ice. It ends up being pretty pricy since they charge for alt milk, but convenience keeps me coming back. The yuzu dragonfruit refresher is my favorite drink in the summer and definitely with the price. I've also tried a few seasonal drinks and collabs. Overall, I keep coming back for the convenience, the customer service and the cute and clean space. They have a little Photo Booth and merch as well! read more

I came in with high hopes for this spot based on what I had heard, but the drinks fell short of expectations. I ordered a few different ones to try: a Pandan Matcha Latte with Almond Jelly, another with Aloe Bits, and a Golden Peach Matcha Latte. The matcha itself was the biggest letdown. It seemed pre-made from a dispenser, and all three drinks tasted watered down. The pandan flavor came across as overly artificial, which overpowered rather than enhanced the drink. I was really looking forward to the Golden Peach Matcha Latte, but even the peach puree could not bring enough life to it. Maybe I visited on an off day, but I was definitely expecting more from this place. I recently stopped by the Katy Asian Town area, and I decided to check out Junbi per my sister's recommendation. For a random Wednesday evening, I was surprised that the store was completely packed. They have a wide variety of matcha drinks, milk teas, fruit teas, refreshers, coffees, smoothies, soft serves, and rice balls. I got the coffee milk blend, and I really liked it. The drink had just the right amount of coffee without it being overpowering or bland. Not pictured, but I also tried their new pandan matcha latte, and that was really tasty. I don't know what happened to this place but it is not the same. The drinks are now in these coffee style containers which makes it harder to mix your drink. I guess they are trying to save cost, but it's messing up the experience. I also don't know if this is a corporate change or just a store change, but it is not a good one. They also have two different sizes now, but are ridiculously expensive. I have always ordered the rose water matcha cold brew and it usually comes with petals, or they ask if you want petals. Today it wasn't even on the menu, but the girl said they could make it. It came out horrible. It tasted like watered down matcha with some sweetener in it. There were no petals. I was really disappointed. I couldn't even properly mix my drink. My husband ordered the madagascar vanilla matcha cold brew and his tasted watered down too. The Matcha Cold Brew was not for me--it had a very powerful matcha taste, which I know some people would appreciate, but it was a bit too intense for my preference. On the other hand, the Guava Matcha Latte was more in my comfort zone. The milk helped dilute the matcha, making it less intense, which I liked. Plus, the guava puree added a nice tartness that balanced the drink really well. Overall, I can tell that Junbi uses high-quality matcha imported from Japan, not the kind you'd find at large coffee franchisees. Out of the two, we both liked the Madagascar vanilla matcha latte more. The matcha earthiness was still present, supported by the subtle sweetness of the vanilla. Next time, I think I would ask for it extra sweet but that's personal taste. I wasn't a big fan of the mango matcha latte. It took about 10-15 minutes to get to order but I didn't mind because there was so many options ! We came during soft opening and the space was very aesthetic and spacious, even with a whole line to the door. The line moved quickly and we were able to order pretty quick. We both got guava matcha lattes, mines with oat milk because she's a lactose intolerant girlyyyy. Definitely recommend this drink ITS SO GOOD. Very unique and refreshing, not overly sweet. And it's aesthetic for the gram too. AND the straws, lid, cup, literally everything was biodegradable and/or recyclable. I went to Junbi while they were having their 1 year anniversary. They were offering BOGO for all their drinks. The line was pretty long as expected but it went by smoothly. I got to try their Madagascar vanilla match latte and their yuzu dragon fruit matcha cold brew. The drinks were pretty sweet. Even me getting 50 percent sugar it was still very sweet. Definitely need to do 25 percent next time I come here and order. I don't know how people drink 100 percent sweetness. The store partner with bts and had some of their merchandise to sell. It didn't take long for them to make the drink after ordering it. I got the mango refresher, and it was nice. The mango flavor was there with some purée mix in the drink. This location is hidden off the main area of Katy Asian Town, and the store itself is kind of small. Our drinks came out fast, but they actually made a mistake with my order, which they kindly fixed when I brought it up. However, the drink was not sealed properly, and ended up spilling on my hoodie. Luckily my friend had a tide pen with her to fix the stain. My friend informed me of the mock day event they were having where they were giving out free drinks, so I swung by to check out the place. I was seriously impressed with the endless variety of options they had available on their menu- makes me extremely excited for its official opening bc I will be trying as many matcha drinks as I can loooooll. I was stuck between the strawberry matcha latte and guava matcha latte. I ended up choosing the guava matcha latte cuz I've had strawberry matcha before and the guava combo sounded unique so I decided to try something new. I am so glad I did bc it was such a refreshing drink. The guava was sweet and complemented the matcha flavor perfectly! It wasn't terribly busy when my friend and I went, and there were just enough parking spots haha. As we were waiting in line, I realized they were playing some real good music.
