After making their hyped debut nearly 2 years ago, Wanpo Tea Shop has remained one of my favorite stops in Katy Asian Town (KAT). Their line of beverages have hit the spot in a way where I can laud them for their consistency in both customer service and selection of drinks. Their selection of drinks are broken down in milk tea, fruit tea, latte, "pure" tea, traditional, and cheese. Toppings include aiyu, grass, red bean, tapioca, pearl, and combined boba with sugar level adjustments. The standouts in each section for me are as follows: (pure) jinxuan oolong, kumquat lemon tea (fruit), winter melon lemonade (traditional), yamamasa koyamaen's matcha (latte), and their regular wanpo milk tea. If I'm feeling really indulgent, I'll get a cheese cream oreo but that's a rare occasion. They've done a good job of opening up the interior space and the layout is ideal for groups and solo action. This is likely to accommodate lines (if any) throughout the week. The illuminated tea areas is a nice decorative touch, There are some table + board games and the place is really pretty during the daytime when the natural light kicks in. WiFi is also on point. The staff is young, friendly, and mostly bilingual in Mandarin + English. Prices are the standard $5-7 per drink, and parking is always abundant in this part of KAT. Given Wanpo's Taiwanese roots and celebrated global brand, it only legitimizes (and further saturates) the greater Houston tea scene.

Really needed this wanpo trip! Texas is really lacking in good tea shops, especially in the DFW area so my trip to houston is definitely prioritizing getting good bubble tea every day. The wanpo here tastes just as good as the ones in the bay area! The main menu is the same but their special items are kind of different. I noticed they have matcha lattes using yamamasa koyamaen matcha powder! I tried to ask a few times what blend they use but it seems like they're not too sure. Another thing was they aren't able to make the mung bean smoothie with no sugar even though the mung bean paste is already sweet, so even at the lowest sugar level it was way too sweet. Other than that the tea is good as expected! wanpo is one of my favorite tea chains from taiwan

This cute shop is tucked in Katy Asiatown. It's nicely decorated and the bathroom is clean, smells nice, and plays music that wouldn't go amiss in a Nordstrom restroom. However, the tables weren't really cleaned, probably because it was busy. They have plenty of tables and some games but they were all full when we went on a Sunday night. They also seem to offer cakes in the shape of clog sandals that remind me of Crocs and ice cream but I heard they were out of the cakes when we were there. We got: EARL GREY MILK TEA W/ TARO BALLS: ordered with less ice And 70% sugar. You could taste the earl grey and the milk tea seems lighter than usual (only milk as opposed to half and half/creamer?) and was good... but the taro balls seemed slightly undercooked. They were a little harder and could have been better. RED BEAN JELLY MATCHA LATTE: ordered with light ice and 50% sugar. This was my favorite. They do have red bean as well as the jellies in the matcha latte. I really liked them together and I typically don't like red beans. Unfortunately, this only came in one size (medium). They were busy so service was nice but to-the-point. Overall, not bad but the taro balls were a disappointment. I do believe real taro was used when making them though.

    Brown sugar boba milk

Wanpo is a super classy boba shop. It's quiet and the decor is lots of wood and it feels like walking into an old teahouse. It was late in the day, so I got a brown sugar boba milk. It was okay, with nice chewy boba. But the drink overall was watered down with minimal creaminess from the milk and no strong brown sugar flavor, making it a slightly sweet milk with boba. Perhaps their tea is better because overall, it was not very sweet. May need to try their tea based drinks next time!

Cute tea shop with a large selection of drinks , this place can host a nice group or a solo study session. However I'd recommend you bring some noise cancelling headphones as the volume of the crowd can be excessive. There's plenty of seating but people do tend to camp out so I'd just grab and go since there are other shops and restaurants nearby in the plaza. Also fair warning their alarm system was going on and off during our visit and was very painful to hear. Understandable that it was out of their control but it made for a very uncomfortable experience. I hope they have remedied this since then but we shall see. But to get to the star of the show the tea... and let me spill the tea: I ordered the passion fruit green tea with light ice, it came as I ordered but the flavor was lack luster. Overwhelmed with passion fruit and sub par green tea, I found myself leaving this drink in my car as it didn't taste all that great. I will be returning to check out their signature drink and hopefully will have a better experience to share. Keep on sipping my dear yelp friends, until next time, sip sip!

    Mango Pomelo Sago

Wanpo is currently my favorite boba shop right now, and has been since they opened. Whenever I am in Katy Asian Town, I always make sure I have space for boba. If you like a stronger tea flavor, this is it. You can't go wrong with any drink here. My go-to order is the Mango Pomelo Sago; probably the most priciest drink on the menu, but so worth it! Service is quick and it's such a cute spot to study. They also have board games.

Came by on a Sunday afternoon after lunch next door. There was a good amount of people, but no long lines. High, open ceilings inside with a tea leaf container theme throughout its decor. I will say they remind me of urns though. I got the mango sago drink, and while it was really tasty, was over $8. Not sure I'd get it on the regular. Will try some of their other more unique offerings next time I am in the Katy area.

Fresh brewed iced green tea with yellow jelly

Love this tea shop's ambiance and the aroma of fresh brewed tea once I step inside. The lines get quite long on the weekends but move fairly quickly. Their seats are comfy and there are many tables inside for those who want to stay to enjoy. Most times, I have taken my tea to go and even pre-order it online for pick up for efficiency. The teas have been always delicious and brewed to perfection. The majority of the menu is fully customizable and those who are looking for a low to no sugar brewed tea can really take note here, as you would be able to taste the natural tea flavor. The sweetness can of course be adjusted with options including zero percent, thirty percent, fifty percent , seventy percent, or a hundred percent. I typically enjoy my teas at thirty percent sweetness, and Wanpo does it right every time. My favorites from this tea shop are their Oolong Tieguanyin Tea, Xuanqiao Green Tea, Jinxuan Oolong (iced or hot). Yellow jelly as a topping is also a must have in my drinks, I just love the slightly soft and chewy texture almost like a mochi consistency but maybe even a tad lighter. As for milk teas at Wanpo, a few that I'd suggest to try are their Red Bean Jelly Milk Tea, Custard Matcha Milk Tea, and of course their classic Wanpo Milk Tea. All of these milk teas are blended and balanced well so the tea flavor isn't hidden. Will be back for more tea when I'm in the mood for some good sips!

I love a fragrant milk tea and this place delivered. I wish it was closer to me! My friend recommended this shop to me and I'm so happy she did. This place was quiet when I visited. Plenty of seating and even had some games like connect four and jenga on each of the tables. The jasmine milk tea and wanpo milk tea were perfect at 30%/50% sugar levels. I can't wait for my next visit!

Had a chance to visit Wanpo in Katy and overall had an okay experience. I tried the custard boba milk tea and felt like the tea was pretty watered down despite getting normal ice and sugar. The custard was also hard to taste. Overall it's a cute shop, but I think there are other boba shops in Katy that have better tea.

    Ambreen K.

Brown sugar milk tea - 8/10 - This was good but could use more brown sugar flavor, boba was nice and soft tho Jasmine green milk tea - 7.5/10 - Could be stronger and creamier but was still decent I havent went to a boba shop in a minute but this was a cute and chill spot with quite a lot of options. I would recommend as a study spot as they have many outlets. Will probably go back to try their matcha as ive heard good things about it

    Jenga set
    Jingwen Z.

I visit Wanpo nearly every time I'm in Houston because it's one of my favorite bubble tea chains. I love that they have a strong tea flavor, and I typically stick to milk teas. They are on the pricey side ($6s for mediums, $7s for large), but I think their ingredients are quite good. I almost always get the boba oats milk tea or the red bean jelly milk tea with sugar at 30%. The boba is usually decent (though slightly variable texture) and the tea is pretty strong and caffeinated. The oats and the jelly are all special and fun toppings that add a different type of texture to the drink. They have added more tables/chairs since the first time I visited, and they have a variety of simple games (Jenga, chess, connect 4, etc.) that visitors can play. There are bathrooms available too. It's almost always very busy, though I have seen some people working on their laptops on occasion.

Got the smoked plum tea here! It really did taste exactly like you expect. The shop does have a pretty regular flow of customers on the week day that we had stopped by, although service was still timely! There was a lot of space for seating and they had a very open layout! Tables were clean and contributes to a nice hang out spot!

This is a great place to come study or do work on your computer. Some tables have outlets too. The service was good. No complaints. I came here because I heard their matcha is good. Each matcha is $8.5. They claim to use ceremonial grade matcha but under the matcha latte list, there is only one drink labeled CG (ceremonial grade) while others do not. The CG is the basic and they use agave for sweetening. They also don't hand mix per cup. It is pre-batched. I'm not a pre-batch hater although I do prefer each cup to be hand mixed, so I will give it a chance if it tastes good. The CG latte was surprisingly smooth and pretty good! Not bitter at all imo, but it was slightly grainy. They used the perfect amount of agave to balance. It wasn't sweet either. Just perfect balanced flavor for a regular CG matcha latte. The other matcha latte I ordered was the banana. It is SO GOOD! A lot grainier than the CG, though. But I would definitely order that again if I come to Katy. It has a cinnamon flavor in it (probably why it felt grainier than CG) and mixed with the banana flavor was just very yummy. Highly recommend!

I was just in town for the weekend for a friend's baby shower and I swear they have some great places to eat and drink in this area. I hate when I'm at a new place and don't know what I want gives me anxiety...lol So I got the limited horchata milk tea 50% sweet and a small order of karaaga (spelled wrong I'm sure) chicken and when I tell you the chicken came out popping hot! Wow so good! Even at 50% the milk tea was not too sweet so I might could have went up to maybe 75% or they do have the option to use a sugar free substitute. I like what I like, just as others like what they like. So I wasn't sure what I was going to get stuck with. So on the way to the outskirts of Katy, we stopped in at Ding Tea. Let me tell you how busy this area was on a beautiful Sunday before lunar New Year. There wasn't a single parking space to be had in three different lots. There was traffic everywhere in people. Do not drive well when they're looking for a parking spot. People just stopped in the middle of the parking lot and didn't move. Waiting for someone to walk out of a building. Super annoying. Luckily, Ding Tea is located behind lot of the larger restaurants and the golf course and other super busy areas. There was a parking spot waiting for me out front and it was easy to get in and out. We ended up getting a tea to share, and two to go with us to the party. We also got an order of the popcorn chicken. I wish they would have it a little bit spicier on its own, without having to dip it into things. A little seasoning goes a long way! The staff were also super nowledgeable about the menu, courteous, and efficient. Will definitely be back, but not on lunar new year. So busy!!

Though, the house blend milk tea was delicious, I specifically asked multiple of times if there's any tree-nuts, such as almond milk, because someone in my group has a severe tree-nut allergy. I have mentioned it many times, including what their egg waffle mix has (such as almond flours and what not). I was told the waffle was good to go but nothing about their yin-yang jelly. The young server was friendly but I don't think he realized the importance of someone not consuming tree-nuts if they have a tree-nut allergy. Luckily, we double checked with someone else after I questioned the drink and luckily the person who has a tree-nut allergy didn't try any of the drink. So, if you or someone in your group has a tree-nut allergy... possibly avoid this place or get a drink somewhere else. There's a big chance of cross-contamination even if the person who took your order knows the severity of it. Overall, it's a good bubble-tea IF AND ONLY IF THERE'S NO ONE IN YOUR GROUP WITH A TREE-NUT ALLERGY. Tea, at 20% sugar level was sweet enough and delicious without artificial taste. I can actually taste the tea and milk. Their Signature Black Tea Egg Waffle is cute in 3 shapes of cranes. The wing parts are nice and crispy but the center of the body is dry. There's no bounce to it. It's pretty thick and heavy. I would skip their cranes and just get drinks. Again, please beware if you or anyone has a tree-nut allergy.
