Lovely ambiance where I feel like I was transported into an old school Chinese gambling room in Shanghai but with modern claw machines on the other side. Comfortable cushioned chairs/bench, it's actually not just for looks. Good amount of seating area, though, they could have added maybe 1 more. I got a Signature Black Tea Egg Waffle and House Blend Milk Tea with Yin-Yang Jelly. Though, the house blend milk tea was delicious, I specifically asked multiple of times if there's any tree-nuts, such as almond milk, because someone in my group has a severe tree-nut allergy. I have mentioned it many times, including what their egg waffle mix has (such as almond flours and what not). I was told the waffle was good to go but nothing about their yin-yang jelly. The young server was friendly but I don't think he realized the importance of someone not consuming tree-nuts if they have a tree-nut allergy. Luckily, we double checked with someone else after I questioned the drink and luckily the person who has a tree-nut allergy didn't try any of the drink. So, if you or someone in your group has a tree-nut allergy... possibly avoid this place or get a drink somewhere else. There's a big chance of cross-contamination even if the person who took your order knows the severity of it. Overall, it's a good bubble-tea IF AND ONLY IF THERE'S NO ONE IN YOUR GROUP WITH A TREE-NUT ALLERGY. Tea, at 20% sugar level was sweet enough and delicious without artificial taste. The drinks were great, with a large variety of options that are pretty hard to find anywhere else. I am a huge osmanthus fan, and it's been a little tough finding places in the US that offer it as a menu option, so I was really excited to get it here. I definitely recommend the osmanthus oolong with almond jelly; it's just the right amount of sweet and floral, and the jelly has a really nice texture (almond tofu is one of my favorite desserts, so I may be biased :) ). The toffee matcha was an interesting option, so we bought it out of curiosity. Surprisingly fantastic. The inside is unique and well-decorated, open and breathable. Granted they're still new but I think down in the long run it'd be helpful to have more than one cash register. Echoing what a lot of reviews said, I came for soft opening and thought the drinks were a bit bland. We got the House Blend Milk Tea with Sesame Jelly and the Matcha Latte with Matcha Jelly. Both tasted very watered down. The milk tea was extremely creamy with just a slight hint of tea, almost like I'm drinking heavy cream. The matcha latte is similar, with just a slight hint of matcha. The thing that makes them unique are their jelly, ranging from tea jelly to almond jelly to sesame jelly. I thought these were good and fun to eat especially with the variety. However, they are only meant as toppings and couldn't carry the weak tea that makes up the majority of the cup. We also tried their Signature Black Tea Egg Waffle. It came in a set three and shaped like a crane - very cute - but that's about it. No filling, no dipping sauce, just waffle. I'm gonna start by addressing the other comments' complaints. I actually thought the service was pretty good and helpful. It did take a while to get my drink, but it's still in its soft opening week. All trendy milk tea places that just opened have extremely long waits because of the crowd, and the fact that customers often order multiple drinks for others too. I attend a lot of grand openings and I've come to expect them to take a while. I loved my drinks and the tea jellies were pretty good too. I came during the soft opening so the drinks were 50% off but even at normal price, it's about $6 which is pretty average now. I love the interior decoration because it has the retro 60's Shanghai look. I docked a star because I despised the other half of the store though. This milk tea place uses half the store to do claw machines and it absolutely clashes with the retro look. Completely incompatible and made the whole interior look messy and weird. I had high hopes, but I will say that this establishment just opened so I'll give them that. I ordered the matcha milk tea with matcha jellies, and the drink looked nothing like how it did on the menu. Also, it was a 30 minute wait for 1 drink. The drink was watery. I was thinking that the matcha would be handmade, but it came premixed in a pitcher. What I did enjoy was the claw machines while waiting. My daughter and I played them while we waited for my drink. Another tea place but it's different. The tea here is not generic at all. You can taste the real essence of the tea in each sip. Not only that but upon walking in you smell the tea. I liked how the worker let us try all the different types of jellies they have. Only place I've come across that uses their tea as jellies also. I got the house blend milk tea with oolong jelly. First I want to say I didn't even get my drink order so I can't comment on the taste/quality of the drinks or food. I ordered two drinks and waited over 30 minutes. Unfortunately I was not able yo wait longer as I had to work. It would have been nice for staff to notify of the long wait time when placing the order because I would have just gone somewhere else. I'm going to estimate based on how many people were in front of me on the screen and the rate they were calling out orders....the wait time would have been about an hour on top of what I already waited. Overall I'm not impressed with the communication from the staff or the rate the orders were ready. I was sitting next to maybe the owners who seemed more occupied with getting their own drinks and taking pictures. I'm assuming they worked there as they kept going back into the staff only section to grab items. Maybe help out the staff that is back there because clearly they are having issues getting orders out in a timely manor. I went to the soft opening of the newest boba chain in town, Hechalou tea in Katy. It shares a space with a claw machine place, which I didn't like. They have an ongoing promotion where you can get 50% off your order, which ends today. I tried their most popular drink, the house blend milk tea with sesame jelly. The wait was pretty long as they take awhile to make the drinks. They have a TV that shows which drinks are ready and which are still being made. The house blend milk tea wasn't bad but it wasn't strong enough for me. I also got 70% sugar but it was still as sweet as a 100% drink. The sesame jelly was really interesting. It had a mochi like exterior but jelly like consistency inside. The sesame was pretty nutty as well. I have mixed feelings about it. If you are a sesame fan though then you would probably like it. I also got a matcha latte with matcha jelly and it was not good at all. The matcha is premade and powdery, with a weird taste that is not smooth.
