We loved JuneBugs! It was so much fun to see my son crawl and explore - they had so much to offer: trampolines, a foam pit, balance bars, incline foam pieces to climb or crawl through. They also had time for a group activity with bubbles and balls. Felt very safe and clean and I will definitely be going back every time we are in town!! read more

Our daughter has been coming here since she was about nine months old. She loves teacher Amy, and now she is in the Caterpillar class with Jordan. She enjoys coming here every week to socialize with other kids her age and do fun and easy challenging physical activity. She loves the trampoline, the balls and the scarves. It's a good way to also meet other parents with the same age children. We look forward to our weekly class. read more

June has created a gem of a gym with Junebugs. Santa Cruz gymnastics may seem more "professional" or "fancy" but don't be fooled. Junebugs is leaps and bounds better in all ways...trust me. The teachers are incredible and caring and I'm so grateful for them. Our daughter is quite capable and we plan to keep her here until she is 5 or 6 and then will bring her over the hill to join team at airborne gymnastics. Unfortunately, we don't have a high quality gym for older kids who want/can go the competitive route in Santa Cruz. read more

Did a walk in today and they were able to accommodate us, however they were not very welcoming. My daughter had a great time and the facility has great stuff for kids. The group of people at the class were very stand off- ish and the class instructor completely ignored me. I said goodbye and thank you and they didn't even respond. Great for kids, but not for new adults that bring kids. read more

I was able to get in for a drop in today with my 1.5 year old for the caterpillars class. There was so much for the kids to play on which was great however our overall experience was not the best and we will not be returning. The staff was not friendly and some of the moms were not welcoming since we weren't "regulars." There were 2 instructors , the younger of the 2 was nice but very standoffish , the other seemed like she didn't want to be there and was pushy getting us to sign up. I was told that they don't usually do drop ins and the class is usually at capacity but their "regulars" weren't there so we were able to squeeze in and that I needed to make a decision fast if I wanted to continue to bring my daughter. Later in the class they moved some of the foam blocks for circle time and they were not wiped down or sanitized before they were brought back out for the next class which grossed me out as I witnessed multiple toddlers drool on them. Lastly my daughter was bit by another toddler, hard, she still has a mark but luckily didn't draw blood, and the mother did nothing. Not that this was Junebugs fault just something worth mentioning. It's been about a week since our visit, the day after my daughter had a stuffy nose and our whole family has had a cold since Saturday.... Most likely from dirty the equipment... read more

My little man loves JuneBugs. Teacher Amy is so sweet, and the atmosphere is relaxed and kind. I do think it is a bit steep in price, having to pay for a class along with a membership yearly fee. I don't mind paying the price because my son loves it, and it is only once a week. I will say though that if the price is a bit high, the equipment should be in better quality? I hate being a negative Nancy, but JuneBugs seems to be taking in A LOT of money. Black tape on equipment and some funky structures maybe should be replaced. This won't stop us from coming, but it is just some food for thought! read more

Below I left a comment about my first few times visiting this gym with my little 1 year old. Sense than I got a personal message from June the owner saying she took my review very seriously. She has sense put in order a sick policy and has turned away sick little babes (even though it's hard clearly, turning down anyone is hard). But I appreciated her efforts so much that I wanted to update the beginning of my post before others read on. I am also leaving my first post below as a reminder to all you mama's and dada's out there to please LEAVE your sick babies home!! And let's help June make her job easier and keep this gym healthy! It a 2-way street! My hope is to come visit and see that there are no sick littles running around, I really loved this gym and my little girls excitement! Thanks June for getting back to me as well. ** (Old Post) I like the idea of this gym & I also like that my daughter at 1 years old enjoys climbing & moving around this gym but I can't get over how many sick children they let come in. I've asked multiple times why this is okay and allowed, and I always get the same answer "we do our best to encourage parents not to bring their kids here when they are sick, and will ask them to leave." This is not the case. Today I counted 6 children with green snot, one mom wiping it on a ball, her child's pants, her pants, and than in the foam pit!!! Gross! Seriously!!! A different mom standing by the big trampoline said to another mom, "oh yea my child has had a 102 fever for 2 days now!" What!! At that point I left early, and sadly I won't be coming back, unless things change and June Bugs can actually in force some guidelines about being sick! I'm disappointed. read more

My under-2 toddler has been going to this gym for a year, and she's learned a lot and gained a lot from June's classes. She is giddy about going there and loves the place, the equipment, everything. I commend June and her people for working with children, including very young ones. It can't be easy, yet they are sweet and patient. Moms are the worse, is my guess, and yet they keep a smile for us. If you're thinking of an activity for your toddler, this gym is fun, nice and CLEAN! I am definitely going to try and keep her going to gym class for years if I can. read more

I have witnessed Junes classes for the last 6 months about 3x a week. June at JuneBug's gym has created a healthy learning experience for children ages crawling through 8. She has done this by ensuring an environment in which the children are able to age appropriately and safely learn about their body as well as how to interact with others by exploring their environment. They also seem to respond to the friendly staff and coaches in a familiar and comfortable way. JuneBug's gym is a safe haven for children to explore movement as well as improve their parent child interaction, child to child interaction, and child to instructor interactions. I was so excited to bring my little one to JuneBugs gym for the first time but I'm afraid we most likely won't be back. We went for open gym on a Friday 11/9 and only ended up staying for 30 minutes. The issue was the lack of cleanliness. The employee running open gym was actually sick herself with a red runny nose and even showed up saying she had just run out to get a bunch of medicine. If your employees are sick, urge them to stay home so they can keep their germs to themself. On top of that, there were multiple children with snot running down there face and another caregiver in the play area coughing and sneezing. Not worth bringing your healthy child to a germ zone. read more

If your child is under 2 this place is great. Their class for small children is fun. Their class for children over 2 can be a bit frustrating. The teaching style is rather militaristic, aka, stand here, do this, do that, all very strict. And their inability to meet those inane requirement is met with eye rolls and snide comments. Granted if my daughter was 7-ish and I intended to train her for the Olympics than I could understand the ridiculous severity. But she's tiny and just wants to have fun and laugh. Perhaps the owner could encourage her staff to lighten up during the under 5 year old cirriculum. Because really. Your literally a block from the beach. I could easily and have repeatedly left the premises to take my darling daughter to a more positive and pleasant environment by walking 5 minutes away. So there's that. But what really made me abandon my membership investment, technically they still owe me over a hundred dollars in "free play" time. Was the abhorrent lack of sanitation. This gym does not apply any sort of regulations when it comes to sick children. Practically every time my daughter has taken a class or enjoyed "open gym" there were multiple kids with running noses. Ergo, she came home sick & we all got sick. Me, my husband, my 9 month old baby, my inlaws who babysit, and even her friends at her JiuJitsu & swim classes. Yep, that's right. We became THAT family. The patient zero family who brought the infected kid into everyone else's realm and gave everybody the plague. Perhaps they could imply some sort of standards to protect our children. Just sayin. Also, as a mom, I understand that potty training isn't easy. Yet I have on 3 separate accounts, via 3 different kids witnessed blatant peeing on the playground. Like massive puddles, whilst the peeing child screamed and the mom ignored the mess because she was staring at her phone. And as the urine puddle grew nothing was done to help the child, nothing was done to clean the mess. I mean I actually watched as other children literally scooted through the feces and ran to the next station to spread the mess. It was disturbing. I had to turn to one of the moms and say "hey your daughters crying" and she was, shall we say, not inclined to clean up, or apologize, or whatever the heck you are meant to do when your kid just used a common area for 2 dozen kids running amok as a toilet. I smiled at her, because potty training is difficult, and I get it, your candy crush game is def way more totes import, but whatevs. So in short, the 3rd and final public massive toilet scenario was our last trip to Junebugs. read more

We dropped in for a Caterpillar class by a friend's recommendation, and June and her assistant created a beautiful class: time for free play and structured singing and dance. My daughter started attending JuneBug's toddler class 2 days/week for the past year since she was 2 1/2. The first 6 months were a little rough, and frustrating on my part, due to her not wanting to participate easily (lots of coaxing and bribing were involved....). As we stuck it out and continued biweekly, my daughter is now so comfortable, she jumps out of the car, runs to the gate, lets herself in and is always ready to go :) A HUGE shout-out goes out to Eurees, as she has been the most influential coach with my daughter. The other staff members and June are amazing as well, but Eurees knows how to provide the support my kid needs. She's attentive, engaging, her teaching style is top-notch and she always encourages the kids to reach their fullest potential in each session. After watching MANY sessions, Eurees has this uncanny ability to instill confidence in all kids no matter the level of ability. I have noticed major improvements in regards to my daughter's strength, flexibility and turn-taking abilities :) She, and every other kid, leave the facility smiling and wanting more! I have nothing but love and graciousness for June Bug's Gym and the team. The monthly Parent's Night Out event is an excellent, and cheap, way to have a few hours off while your kid can play, socialize and exercise, the facility is always clean and I've heard their birthday party options and summer kids camps are pretty cool too. Thank you, June and the team, for keeping this program fun and affordable and I will continue to bring my daughter as long as I am able :) read more

Such a cute gym for your toddler! Everything is just the right size and so fun for the little ones. I would only say that my 2 year old has a hard time following instruction and a lot of the time I feel stressed chasing him around thinking that he should be following what the rest of the class is doing, but then I think, "he is 2!" so for his age it might be asking a bit much, but he is getting better and loves the free play. read more

I highly recommend June Bug's for your little one as soon as they start walking. I have had a great experience there and its priced reasonable. I love all the teachers they are very patient with the kids and I appreciate there honesty and feed back. My daughter has learned so much and she looks forward to go every time. We love JuneBugs, our daughter has been coming here since she 3 years old. We discovered it for Saturday mornings, as it gave our daughter a chance to play and run around while we grabbed a surf together. Over the years it's become one of her favorite rituals - the staff is amazing (big shout out to Ashley, and to Daniel!), the physical exercise great, and they even manage to coach the kids on the uneven bars and the climbing rope. I was finally motivated to write my overdue review on this Sunday after my kiddo asked, can I go to JuneBugs today? Had to break the news that on Sundays they are closed - even the fun staff at JuneBugs needs a day off :-) read more

This used to be a great place. I took my 7 year old here when she was 2 and it was fine. But this round with my toddler has been disappointing. What's going on? My 2 year old daughter is on her third session. We come to class, there are 12 children and 12 parents packed in to a very small room. Much too small for this number of people. As a result, the children are competing with each other for space and activities. There are 2 women who are alleged to be the instructors but they don't greet the children or work one on one with them. Most of the class they are in the back, eating talking to each other or to the receptionist. After 12 weeks of class I doubt they know my daughter's name and they certainly have never approached or interacted with her. They largely avoid the kids and then about halfway through the class on of the teachers announces an obstacle course that this way beyond the ability or understanding of any of these toddlers and with the room so crowded would be dangerous to attempt anyway. There is a brief circle time and a short period with a parachute, both a little over the heads of these less than 2 year olds and when class is over, the teachers don't say good bye. read more

My daughter, now five, has been attending June Bugs for I want to say 2-3 years now and I have nothing but amazing things to say about this place and the people who work here. We do the class once a week and come to open gym on saturdays when I need to get things done. It is so nice to have a place where I can leave my daughter on the weekends to get a quick workout in, run errands etc. and know she is having fun and in good hands. The classes are structured very well and allow for free expression/play but also have the time where children need to learn to follow instructions and follow obstacles which is great for them. The teachers are all amazing but one who really stands out to me is teacher Eurece (ah I might have spelled that incorrectly) she is SO good with children, very firm and clear on what she expects and wants but also playful and silly. Also, the lady who I believe is the accountant possibly, Marylou is a gem! We have also had a party at the facility and that was great too. The faculty entertains the children and you really do not have to do much. Hope this is helpful for those considering :) read more

This place is an amazing gym for children. My daughter attended from 5-6 years and she loved it. Her favorite teacher was Kyle, he did so great with the amount of rambunctious kids that were in my daughters class. He was patient and she achieved her goal of doing the splits and cartwheels. Still working on handstands. She is getting too big for it now, but we have yet to find a gym that is as great as this one in Santa Cruz county. If your debating whether to join, do it. Your kids will love it and my daughter still sports her June bug gym shirt when she can. read more

I started my daughter out in a parks and rec program which didn't really have instruction for her age group, but she transitioned to June's program beautifully and my 2 year old son even follows the instruction. If you child is shy about being spotted by anyone other than you, they are totally fine with you being on the floor encouraging and spotting your child through the activities. Our kids have been going to June Bug Gym and TUmbling TUtor for years. It s a GREAT place for any kid walking thru 6, maybe even 7 years. It is clean, small, with great instruction. Even the parents there are fun (with the exception of the lady complaining about a BDay party - please get some help). My kids love it and so do I...and it doesn't smell like dirty socks (some other gyms do) read more

I have been looking for a place to enroll my daughter in gymnastics, she is 4 and has some mild motor delays. After attending a party at June Bugs Gym, I knew right away that it was the place for her. For one, she was enamoured with Teacher Kyle, but also the gym is cozy enough to not be too overwhelming for her, and is really geared towards building confidence in young children. I enrolled her in a Friday afternoon class, and my 7-year-old son, after observing the class, decided he wanted to enroll too! And now they attend the same class together (sometimes they are split into separate groups, sometimes not, depending on the number of students in class that day), and they both absolutely love it! And I love that they can go together, because my daughter is even more confident with big brother keeping an eye out for her. While we are partial to Kyle, all the other teachers have been great too. I did read the 1 star review below regarding a particular instructor, but he has not taught any of our classes, so we haven't had that experience. read more
