Excellent! I love this place. I had no idea what to expect when I first walked into Jung's. I was wide-eyed and naive...trying to plant a veggie garden for the first time. The gals at the front pointed my boyfriend and I toward the back where we could find what we were looking for. Afterward, we had so many questions!! The gal at the front happily told us everything we could possibly want to know about growing a vegetable garden. She also gave us some good tips on how to get these growing healthy and strong. Delighted by my initial visit to the Jung Garden Center in Fitchburg. Having recently relocated to the area, I have been looking for some healthy-looking houseplants and nice planters in which to display them, and this garden center is the nicest source I've found for them so far. While the cashiers didn't seem very knowledgeable, they were pleasant and helped me carry the plants to my car. When I went to the outdoor nursery section, I saw a woman watering some plants and asked where I might find dogwoods. She stopped watering, walked me to the section with dogwoods and hydrangeas and was very helpful and interesting as she discussed various types of each plant, helped me select some healthy plants and get them to the cashier. I'm just getting back from visiting the Jung Garden Center for the first time, mid-day on a Wednesday. Having recently moved into a new home, I went to Jung with the intent of buying several shrubs, perennials, and flowers for my new yard. I was at Jung for about an hour total, and at no time during my browsing the varieties, collecting and loading up three large wagons full of plants, and then hauling those wagons up to the register did any one offer me any type of help, despite there being at least a dozen employees within site and very few other customers. At one point I actually had to ask an employees who was on their phone to step out of the doorway they were blocking so I could get through with a large wagon of plants. After checking out, despite purchasing over $300 worth of plants, again no offer to help bring the wagons to my car or even hold the door for me. I realize this isn't the Plaza Hotel, and I didn't expect to not lift a finger, but I would think in an industry such as gardening offering assistance to help patrons select plants and ask questions would be welcome. I try to shop local, but if you're going to charge more than the chain stores, I'd like some incentive to come visit, such as customer service. I did not find that here. read more

While shopping for Mother's Day Gifts on Saturday 5/7, I picked up it a potted plant in the store. I had walked maybe 10 feet when I was startled by a burning sensation on my hand. I looked down to see a bunch of red ants on my hand. I immediately tried to wipe them off and wound up with ants on my clothing that I was trying to brush off. I called over an employee to show her the plant and alert her I had been stung, and she just replied that the plant was not infested or unhealthy since they were ants and that she'd take it off the sales floor. I reiterated that they were biting ants. She did not return to the area after taking the plant. I was worried about others being bitten, so I went up to the front of the store to let someone know I could see more ants on the shelf for the pot had been. The woman working the register said she couldn't leave the register unattended and just asked me to describe where it was. (There were other registers open with staff and no line) My husband tried to alert another employee as well. The entire time we were there I didn't see a single employee examining the area of the store where The ants were. At the time I was unsure how many Times I had been stung as my hand was burning, but it was hard to see any specific spots. On the way home I was bitten again as they had gotten on my clothing and I was unable to see them. Over the past two days the bites have continued to hurt and have turned into blisters. I left a message with customer service and have not heard back. I'm concerned that someone might get an infested plant and have it in their car or in their home and get attacked by the ants. I was not impressed with the employees response to my situation, as they seemed to treat it as if it was no big deal. Thank goodness I only received a handful of stings. I'm really hoping it gets taken care of so it doesn't happen to any other people! read more

I really like Jung's a lot. My wife also goes there for hard-to-find gardening items. I've gotten many of my pots and plants there, plus they have a nice selection of garden related gifts. If you buy a plant, just be careful to watch out for mealy bugs. I've had a few plants with bugs and also seen them on some of their stock greenhouse plants. read more

Recently moved to the area so less space meant changing my love for outdoor gardening to indoor plants. Originally tried larger commercial locations with no success. Jung garden center was the answer to my prayers with excellent customer service, fair prices, and everything I needed in one spot. Their loyalty program is just an added bonus. Amazing. Stopped here tonight at 6:58 to buy some petunias to finish a planter box. Walked to the back and the door was locked the guy working back there said sorry we're closed. The open sign was on and the front door was wide open. I asked the lady at the register if I could buy a few petunias quickly. She said no we are going to close. To many times I've been in there and they are just to busy talking to each other to help anyone. Yesterday I stood right in front of two employees and they both looked at me, turned away and kept talking. I went to leave and one yelled out asking if she could help me. I went elsewhere and spent a couple hundred dollars. I've spent a lot of money on their over priced stuff because I like to shop locally. But someone who doesn't know much, trying their 1st garden. Couldn't find help and when I did. I was showed to where the items I was looking for was. But no explaining. While shopping there on 5/7 for Mother's Day gifts, I picked up an indoor plant in a pot that was inside the store. I looked where it had been on the shelf and saw more ants. I went to the store front to alert someone to the biting ants , only to be told she couldn't leave the register. We tried to talk to one other employee, who also didn't seem too concerned. I didn't have the impression that anyone was going to follow up on it. The bites hurt yesterday, but are worse this morning and are painful, red and larger. I'm lucky I only Got bitten 6 times. I'm concerned another customer could have a worse experience and maybe put an infested pot in their car or home and wind up with more bites. read more

Visited this store in Stevens Point WI today and was so disappointed. My jaw dropped when I saw so many trees and shrubs out on the sales yard - that were DEAD. Nobody was watering anything, the plants were all dry and there was no sign of hoses. There were carts full of dead trees and shrubs standing on the side. The service is bad too. It took me 20 minutes to check out - the line was about 7 people deep to check out. Two checkers - one left her station to answer a question on the phone - and 6 or so others were standing around talking. I asked one to help check and she snarled at me...in a moment. Too busy for their customers. Then that same girl comes breezing thru past the line of waiting people and says "I'm off to lunch". John, who I think is the manager was oblivious. I went yesterday looking for house plants. I found the section for house plants to be filled with lots of junk and the plants looking neglected. Clearly they aren't caring about their indoor plants. Meanwhile, two teenage girls were gabbing away at the register and nobody on the floor, so if you have any questions, too bad. I won't be back. Jung is a pretty good place for a variety of garden/patio/houseplant items. We purchased three large pots for replanting some of our houseplants and the selection was pretty good and the prices were decent. I noted that they carries some similar pots to something I purchased at Target recently and was surprised that they beat the Target price. So I am sure you can find some deals here. I do as much of my seed and garden shopping as I can with seed exchanges and other idealistic entities. Naturally, this can be impractical at times, so it's nice to have Jungs around, with just about everything you could want in stock. They have a good selection of seeds (I think they claim to be GMO free, if that's important to you), lots of tools, trees in the spring, vegetable starter plants, etc. I think they even carry some house plants and decorative pots for them. The prices are okay - you won't be gouged, even if you might find some stuff cheaper elsewhere - and the employees seem to be knowledgeable, which is nice. It's kind of a no-frills place - like a big box store for garden stuff, which is nice when you just need to find something and get on with your day. They do carry organic options for at least some things, but your choices for organics won't be as wide as they will for more conventional products. One thing I really like about them is that they have a lot of reasonably-priced supplies for seed starting in the spring. I wouldn't necessarily buy a shelving setup there, as it's almost always going to be cheaper to construct one yourself out of products from a hardware store and/or from extra stuff you have lying around the house than to buy a pre-made one from a nursery, but they have a wide selection of seedling pots, heading pads, seeds, and growing media. read more

Jung's doesn't have the largest selection, but the qualify of their products is excellent. I've been gardening in Madison for over 2 decades now and I've learned where you get your flowers and planting materials can greatly influence how well your garden does for the summer. The hard part is navigating the store with your Little Red Wagon full of compost, plants, and potting soil, while not crashing into other folks who are pursuing the sometimes narrow isles. The staff is a bit hit or miss: I had 2 very busy staff members stop and help me, despite being clearly busy, while the staff at the checkout were less than helpful finding a cart or navigating the door, etc (so I don't want to give a negative blanket statement). If you know what you want and where it's located, you'll like the store a lot. If you need a little more help with suggestions for products or plants, you may want to try Bruce Company across town instead. read more

Cons: The staff are almost always rude, usually not helpful, and often can't be found to ask for help because that are all chatting together around the registers. Don't buy anything at this store.I bought 3 trees 4 months ago from there. They said guarantee one year. If you have membership even you lost your receipt you can still get money back if the trees died. Then I joined the membership. After 4 moths 2 trees the leaves never came out. then I spend hours digging out the dead trees. Brought to this store. The store said we can't return your money without receipt. Even they find out my membership. Also the store barcode still hung on the trees. How can anyone going to buy anything at this store. They don't follow there words. read more

A wide selection vines, perennials and annuals. Prices are similar to Menards and Home Depot. I was looking for the hard to find wisteria vine all around madison and finally found it here and only for 24 bucks. And the plant was already flowering!!! I was so happy. Picked up honeysuckle, blueberry, grape and some more flowers. Overall very pleased. read more
