Unfortunately I cannot leave a positive review for this office. Went for a cleaning and exam for my 4 year old. Staff was friendly. Office was fun. My son loved it. Dr. Maye was very nice. However - I was told he needed 3 fillings and a baby root canal. And I was told it all needed to be done under general anesthesia (not covered by insurance). With my Humana HMO this would cost $1200 and I would need to put my son under. Needless to say - I went for a second opinion. But before going in for the second opinion I gave Dr. Maye's office a second chance. I called and asked if they would try nitrous first before general anesthesia. They told me because my son didn't want to take xrays, he wouldn't tolerate nitrous and fillings. I went to another dentist today (dr. Jackie Galvez). She got the X-rays done no problem and did the fillings under nitrous to the tune of $45! Same insurance. Same child! I was shocked. I couldn't believe the price difference. And as far as the X-rays go, dr. Jackie's hygienist did it just fine. I am sorry it didn't work out with dr. Maye. I am glad I trusted my instinct to get a second opinion. It's never a good feeling to have something like General anesthesia pushed on your child without The possibility of exploring other options. I sincerely hope it wasn't being pushed due to the fact I have an HMO and anesthesia is not covered by insurance. I just hope it was a difference in opinion. In the end I did what was best for my child and had great results someplace else. read more

Very, very, very friendly staff. They keep the kids focused and they are very professional. I always enjoy bringing the kids here and they love it as well... There are no long waiting periods. They give the kids toys when they are finished with their visit. The doctor keeps you well informed on what's going on and whatever needs to be done. My children have been seeing dr Maye since they first got their baby teeth... From dr Maye to dr Shelling I've never had any issues or problems with their respective practices...until now 17 yrs later, dr Mayes practice has deteriorated from its humble beginnings. From a family oriented, one on one, first name basis to a overwhelmed busy practice where you're treated more like a number and just another insurance submission. Sad, that you can't even find dr Maye anywhere around his practice and worse that he farms out his patients to other pediatric dentist. This usually results in incompetence, legal issues, loss of patients and closing practice. read more

The wait time is not bad; however, the time with the dentist is minimal; less than 2 minutes on average. Considering we pay $150 for a visit, I would expect that to include a thorough evaluation of my child. The cleanings are also not overly thorough. Time to find a new dentist. read more

Very frustrating experience. As my child is very anxcious and fairful at the dental clinics, we were recommended by our Pediatrician and other dentist from dental clinic (where we tried to fill cavities) to use Maye Pediatric Dentistry services and do the sedation. We made an appointment and were waiting patiently for two months. When we arrived we were dissapointed so much. After checking a mouth, they said they can't do anything because child has all permanent teeth as he is already 10. Question: why registrator asks the age of patient when making appointment and does not say that they treat only baby teeth...that they have no equipment for older kids to treat permanent teeth, not only babies teeth. Strange that all pediatrics recommend Maye Dentistry but do not know about this fact! And employers of Maye Pediatric Dentistry did not give any advises, any suggestions or recommendations where to find or how to solve this problem. read more

We've been to this dentist now 4 times in almost one year. One of the visits I was asked to not be in the room for child's procedure as they work better without parents around! My child had procedures (fillings) before at a different dentist and is an excellent patient but they insisted on laughing gas which I refused so in turn they asked me to wait in the waiting room. They were clearly annoyed when I told them I would be staying and told me ok I could stay but couldn't sit so I was left to stand in a corner for more than half an hour. They themselves were shocked how good my child behaved (10 years old) but never even wanted to give it a chance if it was up to them. Laughing gas or sedation seems to be their preferred method of operating. Didn't care that our pediatrician strictly did not recommend any such stuff due to our child being very lightweight for age where careful consideration is taken even with a simple Tylenol dosage. Jungle dental doesn't weigh or ask for weight for sedation/laughing gas administration. They seem to just go off the age of a child. The other child (3 years old) they keep trying to push IV sedation. At the 4th visit I signed a form saying I do not want flouride treatment and they sneaked them in and gave to both children anyway. When I asked what is it that they're doing they first pretended they weren't doing anything and then said "flouride, did you not want it?" I had signed the form about 25 mins before and they claim they don't do anything without parents' consent which obviously isn't true. Two different people worked on my two children and they purposely concealed the fact that they were applying flouride. Completely crazy considering my older one has flourosis and dentist can clearly see it! The office also has poor communication and they often do not return calls. Needless to say, we're considering switching right away due to disregard for parents wishes or pediatrician recommendation. read more

Office refused to make the appointment with name of carrier info, dental plan name and my info as primary policy holder. I called a different provider immediately after and got him set with the above info for next week. Dr Maye is the absolute best! He corrected a screwed up root canal that my 8 year old daughter had from a terrible dentist (Dr Steven London- stay far away from him- he's a fraud!) Not only did Dr Maye fix the bad work that was done (the prior dentist Dr London was supposed to have saved the tooth by performing a baby root canal but never did the correct procedure instead screwed it up and charged me for it, which ended up causing my daughter to have severe nerve damage and had to have her tooth extracted!) read more

Dr. May and his practice is absolutely awful. If your child needs an implant or crown, the only option Dr. May offers you is STAINLESS STEEL. What kind of dentist only offers stainless steel? This practice is a factory that is probably responsible for every single pediatric grill in Boca. My son recently had 3 crowns with Dr Maye under sedation. One week later we experienced acute onset of pain and redness at the one crown and called to schedule a apt. I was told "the surgeon" does not see any follow ups of his own work it's the other dentist in the office that we have never seen that would address the situation with a appointment the following day. My husband and I have been in healthcare for 20+ years and I have never had an actual surgeon refuse to do his own post follow up let alone a dentist. If this was stated ahead of time I would never have used this dentist in the first place. Dumping a clear direct complication from his work onto another Dr is honestly shocking to me. Our regular pediatric dentist(who is amazing!) got us in thankfully the same day to help my son. I hope this better informs possible future patients so they can make appropriate decisions for their family members. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTIST! I looked all over for a good dentist to take my daughter to for her 1st visit. She is a little shy around strangers but after reading the reviews and their website stating "We are all highly experienced in helping children overcome anxiety." I called and was told that it was $140 for xrays, cleaning and fluoride treatment along with the dentist taking a look. So I scheduled the appointment. They took my daughter back and the hygienist was not very kid friendly and decided right off the bat that she could not handle my daughter b/c she would sit on the chair but not lay down. You would think they would be able to accommodate and do her teeth sitting up but that is besides the point. We waited about 40 min before we could go into the special room to see the dentist. He came in and was very nice but then had me hold my daughters hands down while he brushed fluoride on her teeth while she screamed. At the same time of holding my daughters hands down I noticed my 1 year old son was sticking his hand in a broken light socket. Not sure why a pediatric dentist would have a broken light socket. After a 5 min visit with the dentist I go up to the counter and was charged $140 but my daughter never had xrays, cleaning the only thing she got was fluoride brushed on her teeth. I said something to the receptionist and she said there was nothing she could do that was the charge for a visit. I left feeling robbed. So the next day I called the office manager. I put in two calls before getting a call back. Then she told me she had to speak with the dentist and would call me back. Needless to say I have put in two more calls with no call back. read more

The worst possible experience! We were officially referred to Dr. Maye by Children's Dental, who followed my son's insurance protocol. They told us that Dr. Maye specialized in complex cases (my son is severely disabled and in a wheelchair, which I explained in detail while making the appointment), and that there was no one else who could do the treatment. We made the earliest available appointment on August 14 for October 3 (!!), even though I told the stuff he was in pain. The first thing that should have given me a clue was the total lack of compassion from the clinic's stuff when I was asking for an emergency appointment for a child in pain. Nevertheless, we waited for the appointment. Today, after we waited seven weeks, and one day before the appointment, the office called to tell me that the appointment was canceled, because "the doctor's cut-off for the procedure under anesthesia is 12 years old", and you son is 13! My son turned 13 exactly 2 weeks ago. I am disappointed that no one bothered to contact me before to warn me of the office policy. In addition, the lady who called to cancel lacked even the most elementary compassion and couldn't seem to be bothered by the fact that we wasted seven weeks of our life waiting for the appointment which never came thorough. Unbelievable. I can only hope that the Doctor's family would never have to go through the pain and disappointment while seeking medical care for their children that my family had to go through while seeking treatment for my disabled son. I am sure that the Doctor is a nice person, as evidenced by the reviews, but our family's experience with the stuff and the Clinic in general was horrible. read more

I called the Doctor 4 times to speak with him about the fees and he STILL hasn't called me back! Prior to a procedure my daughter had I asked the doctor Dr. Maye how much the procedure was going to be and his staff said my out of pocket would be $160. Which I paid immediately. Now you are trying to bill me for more. Not my fault that someone did not do their job there. I promise if Dr. Maye was confronted he would know that I did ask because that was a big concern for me. While the office may be fancy their staff and policies are not. They treated my 6 year old daughter without my consent and it was not covered by insurance. I was never given the option to decline. And when I complained they told me this is their standard practice and whether my insurance covers it or not they have to perform the "special" X-ray. And if I did not want this type of X-ray done for my child in the future then I need to find another dentist as they go off a Florida standard for treatment. If there were an option for zero stars I would choose that. This dentist is great until there is actually something wrong with your child. Then he is rude, aggressive, and tries to shove anesthesia down your throat when it is completely unnecessary. My 4 year old needed one filling and I asked for gas but the dentist refused and then told me if I didn't do it my child would need 20 extractions in 6 months... Really!? He said he wasn't old enough for gas. All over 1 filling. We found another dentist and in 17 minutes the filling was done and the new dentist used gas. He also said he probably could have done without the gas! For the safety of your child, stay away from this dentist. He's all about the money... Not the well being of your child read more
