'Ello chaps! Junibacken is a wonderous playland come to life. This is where the stories of Pippi Longstonging come to life. Junibacken is a children's museum dedicated to the literature of children's author Astrid Lindgren. The attention to detail is impeccable. It is located on the island of Djurgården in the centre of Stockholm, Sweden, and IS part of the Stockholm Pass attractions pass. From Wikipedia: Junibacken contains the largest children's bookstore in Sweden. The lockers in the entrance hall are unusual in that each is in the form of a giant book-spine, featuring world classics such as Treasure Island and The Jungle Book. Other main attractions include a Storybook Square, a mock public square where each house is devoted to a separate Swedish children's author (other than Lindgren), from the earliest writers such as Elsa Beskow to recent writers such as Sven Nordqvist. The square ends at a mock Vimmerby railway station. The station also presents framed copies of Lindgren memorabilia, including a glowing letter of praise for Lindgren from then president of the Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev. From the station visitors then take a theme-train ride through the world of Astrid Lindgren's books, with one "stage setting" for each of her well-known works, such as Madicken, Karlsson-on-the-Roof, Ronia the Robber's Daughter, Emil i Lönneberga, and The Brothers Lionheart. The train ride ends at a half-side reconstruction of Villa Villekulla, the home of Lindgren's most well-known character, Pippi Longstocking. It also includes a theatre, restaurant and temporary exhibition space. The temporary exhibition space is usually devoted to a single author or character and normally remains in place for 11 months. Among the most popular of the temporary exhibitions have been Pettson and Findus, and Trazan och Banarne.

My review is mainly for the experience of attending a summer concert, as I am not a fan of…read moreamusement park rides in the slightest. As such, I really appreciate the option of buying an affordable season pass (440sek/approx. $45) that allows you to visit every day all season long, and attend every concert. The price only includes entry into the park itself, none of the rides. The rides require their own individual tickets or passes. I love this arrangement as it lets me ride one or two of the classics by paying individually, while not having to spend money on a ride pass that will go mostly unused. Once you're inside the gates, you're a captive audience in a tourist attraction during peak season, so expect food and drink prices to reflect that. On concert nights and weekends, it might also be a challenge to find anywhere to sit and enjoy said food and drinks. But really, all of that aside, there are few things that match the vibes of a gorgeous summer evening at Gröna Lund. The crowds, the sounds, the water, the energy of it all. It's unlike anything else. Please do experience it if you get a chance. To get here, take spårvagn 7 from stockholm central, or a commuter ferry from slussen. Expect the latter to be extremely busy right after a concert.

Had no plans for the day except to wander around the city. Looked up the park and decided to go. It was a 10-minute water taxi from the cruise pier. Stood in the admission line for about 10 minutes until they opened. It was like a step back in time for an American. Everything about the place was family oriented but also had great rides for adults. The face down drop tower was incredible. In fact, all 4 of the drop towers were great. They have an old wooden roller coaster that's fast and intense. Haunted house ride was fun and worth a couple of trips through. Good variety of food, including vegetarian and vegan, available at reasonable prices. A hidden beer garden on top and of a restaurant, while also being under a steel coaster. Fantastic day at the park. It's part of the Tivoli group of parks including Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen. Well worth a day visit.

Not that you'll find crazy rides but there's entertainment for kids with some rides, plus not to mention the lounging areas, the animals, and so much more. Came here walking from our hotel , you can catch a bus, and it was just beautiful. I highly recommend a visit. This can be an almost all day thing or just come for a few hours like we didn't.

After entering we decided to walk the path up to the park instead of buying a ticket for the funicular. It took roughly 10 minutes on a slight incline. Skansen was huge and does take time to go from place to place. Initially we wandered from building to building and many were not staffed or only viewable from the outside. While it was interesting to read the posted signs it wasn't too interesting. At the Oktorp farmstead, we finally found the first staffed location and got to see and learn about dying of yarn. Here we also learned which buildings were staffed and from that point forward gave us a plan of how to tackle Skansen and made the visit much more enjoyable. We had a great conversation about politics in the People's House which was very appropriate and compared it against present day in both our countries. Many parallels. We learned more about typical farm life in the Skane Farmstead while stooping low inside the house and that led to the Delsbo Farmstead. Delsbo was quite the opposite as it was ornately decorated with detailed wall paintings paid for by the well to do family per the staff. I highly encourage anyone visiting to engage with the staff as they were very enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge of the period or activities that went on in that particular farmstead, building, church, etc. We skipped seeing all the animals they kept towards the back of Skansen as well as the aquarium. Overall spent over 2 hours here and likely could've spent more if more buildings were staffed and open. Glad the weather held throughout our visit.
