Unbeknownst to us, they brought in a third party moving company (State to State Relocations) a month before our scheduled move. When I questioned STS about why they were involved I was told they're a subsidiary of 2 Men. I was then told by STS that my inventory would require a 30' and 40' truck, and the additional 10' I would get with the 40' would be $6,000. We negotiated down to $3,000. However, when they arrived on moving day, there was only 1-30' truck and 3 men. We were then told they would load the truck, take it to their shipping yard and come back for another load, after which they would load everything in an 18 wheeler for delivery to our new state. After much drama, the supervisor (Nolan) left to get the 2nd truck yet brought back a small Penske truck. We had to cram our vehicles with our belongings because their trucks were full. Nolan then advised that if we wanted a direct delivery it would cost an additional $9,000. Or we would have to wait until they could deliver our stuff which would take upwards of to 1-2 months. I immediately called his superior (Peter) who CLAIMED it was a miscommunication. They would deliver as expected. During the 12 hr drive to our new state we saw they were behind us. I then received a call from Nolan advising his company wanted him to fly to Honolulu from Reno, which was an hour ahead, and Nolan asked if I could give him $5,000 of the balance we owed for travel expenses. He said the 2 men with him would be fine delivering our belongings. I told him absolutely not. The 2 men did not speak English, which would be impossible to deal with plus I had no intention of giving him any money before delivery. Nolan advised they would deliver that night when we arrived and I told him no way are we going to be in any shape after a 12 hr drive. We agreed on 8 am the following morning. However, they didn't show up until 10 am, shattered a 4'x5' antique wall mirror, chipped and scratched several pieces of antique furniture, left all the packing materials, and asked for a tip. During this entire time, we were calling Robert with STS Since he was who booked our original move. Still, at no time did Robert admit that he was not involved. A move that was originally booked at $16,000.00 ended up costing us $35,000.00. They had us backed into a corner and we felt we had no alternative but to just get through it, since the buyers wanted the house the next morning. NEVER, EVER, use either of these movers. We found out afterwards that STS does this bait and switch as a regular practice. The number of complaints is unbelievable, where people still don't have their belongings.
