Good music and a very hipster-esk clientel means its a very relaxed environment and for a smoker like me HEAVEN. They make a mean pizza and the cocktail jugs are a good price and decent. the toilets however were too small and the line a mile long but that was updated recently which is good. it needs a few other things but its a new cool layed back Been Garden which works well. P.s Bring back the Shisha guys!!!

When you just want to drink all these factors become pretty important. Comprising of a few different levels, an outdoors area and a lot of seating, Nevermind pulls steady crowds and has a really nice atmosphere. I've never felt uncomfortable or picked up any dodgy vibes. Its just a nice location and is filled with seemingly nice people. Due to the large amount of couches Nevermind is the perfect location to catch up with friends or even hold an event. The only thing I have a problem with is continuously walking up and down stairs to get drinks but it doesn't seem to bother me too much once I've had a few.

Had some tasty pints for around $8, which for a Saturday night is pretty staggering ($8 pint anywhere these days around Melbourne is pretty good). With Forester's Hall now open right across the road having 'beer' in their name also gives some cohesion to this corner of Smith St, and I'm sure we wont be the only ones to start at FBG in the afternoon sun then drift across the road to sample the impressive beer range at FH this summer.

In the beer options and the choice of food available. Nothing said this is a place for craft beer. Lucky thing that since then, the times have changed. Stomping Ground grew up and learned how to 'Walk this Way.' On my most recent visit, I was flabbergasted to look over the menu. Wow now there are food options that are perfect to compliment their tasty beer. And which beer you may think? That's okay, they have two pre-set paddle choices. One for a beer snob, the other for a beer-beginner. Both provide you with a good introduction to the beers of Stomping Ground. It's always been a great space. It's open, there are shared tables and a high ceiling- giving you those industrial feels. There's also bar side, with even more tables under a glass ceiling- it opens up during summer time and is the place to go and enjoy the beer and the atmosphere. And (if this applies to you) there's a play house area for the kiddies to muck around. The owners are the guys who put on GABS -so they know a thing or two about beer. You should also check out their St. Kilda pub, The Local Taphouse.

There's also some decent beers on the menu for those who want to cobble together their own boiler-makers. The set up is great and the inventory on display behind the bar simply mouth-wateringly impressive. One thing was that there didn't seem to be any whiskey 'bible' listing exactly what they had. Understand the logistics of keeping something like that up to date with prices and new inclusions etc can be annoying, but it would have been fun for us to read over, whiskey in hand, looking for the next one to try. I'm sure the staff - all very friendly and welcoming, with table service - would be able to help steer you toward something to suit your tastes and price range, but I do enjoy the tactile experience of flicking through a full drinks menu.

The beer flights are also recommended if you're indecisive! As far as food went, I really liked the deep fried mac and cheese, and the shrimp po boy was quite tasty, but could do with a bit more remoulade. We also got the Dom and that was INSANE! I have no idea how one person is supposed to eat all of that. It was really tasty though, but I felt like I was going to explode from eating it. There's also a very impressive collection of hot sauces you can try with your meal, including one with a "try at your own risk" label on it! It's in a pretty convenient location, although being above Camberwell station does mean it can be a bit noisy.

As a semi regular - I've watched the slow transformation of the auburn including the menu over the past 12 months to a shorter and sharper offering. Shorter and I think sadly a little too pricey for what it delivers. The real change has been the overhaul of the back room from a grimy pub to a refined dining space. The courtyard area has been doubled and is now a really inviting area with communal benches, mod grass and umbrellas. It's actually s place you want to hang out at now for a sneaky drink. I've been suitably impressed by the impression that the auburn delivers. But... There is still an annoying thing that remain from the Geebung days - e.g. Ordering times - way too long to deliver something like a basic Parma. Previously there used to be "special nights" to entice the locals in - these are all gone with the exception of Tuesday steak night. A little disappointing to be honest as the menu pricing for anything other than a ladies Parma is too rich for most people to go to most nights or on a whim - which is what was great about specials nights. I like what the auburn is trying to achieve. I like the atmosphere they are trying to curate. I (mostly) like the simplified menu but I think they've missed the point of a lovely local when it comes to pricing (9.50 for a side green salad anybody?) and this really needs to be addressed to make it the wonderful local that we will all frequent. 4 for vibe - 2 for menu/pricing. It is basically one of those hole in the wall bars, but it is actually located in a small arcade that runs down the side of Glenfernie railway station. I stumbled across it one afternoon, wandered inside and ending up having a great conversation with the bar tender. When it comes to beers, they have some pretty good ones of tap, however, while it didn't seem to be much at first, when I discovered the basement I literally fell in love with the place. That basement is so laid back and relaxing, and it just feels like one of those places that I could spend hours in with a group of friends.
