It's about a 40 min drive from Florianopolis airport. The place is spectacular and you sometimes feel like you are the only people there. The hotel has 25 bungalows and is pretty much for couples only (no kids allowed). The rates include a great tasting menu breakfast (totally new each day). The restaurant for lunch & dinner (not incl) is superb and the light bites you can order at the beach are terrific (don't miss the bolinhos de bacalhau). The prices of things once the hotel are reasonable whether it's meals, massages, etc. The staff are very friendly and eager to help. A lot of them do not speak any English, but there's usually a English speaker nearby who will come right over to help. Overall, highly recommend it. (Nov 2013).

Don't expect a five-star spa experience, but that seemed impossible to find anywhere in and around Flori anyway. The location on the white sand beach is perfect. They'll bring out beach chairs and set up an umbrella for you out in the sand, and you can spend your day alternating between long walks up and down the beach, wading into the water (or surfing, if that's your thing) and eating delicious seafood / sipping on cold beverages. This hotel also happens to have the best restaurant in the area, so you don't need to venture far when you're hungry. Prices are okay. We had an issue with the AC units in one of our rooms which the staff fixed within an hour or two after we notified them of the problem. Definitely a good option if you're looking for a low-key relaxation destination on the beach for a couple of days. The beach was pretty sparsely populated while we were there in late November. Not sure if it gets crazier in the peak summer months.

Marcia, the proprietor, made the trip all the more worthwhile with her friendliness and detailed knowledge of the city. Janela de Marcia is in a compound in a residential neighborhood that's at the bottom of a hill. When you walk in and see the communal breakfast table, comfortable lobby area, hammocks, and all the beautiful flowers on the grounds, it feels like a home away from home. The rooms themselves are simple but tastefully decorated. It had air conditioning (a necessity), a mini-refrigerator, and a modern bathroom. Our cabin had a front porch and a hammock which I am now regretting not using. If you are a TV addict, be advised that the rooms don't have them. The communal breakfast is amazing. Everything is freshly prepared and well-presented. Eating breakfast outside watching the bird fly among all the plants was incredibly relaxing (and a great way to start the day). Sitting outside, you will notice that the whole facility is well maintained that it just gives you a peaceful feeling. Janela de Marcia being in a very safe, quiet neighborhood also helps with the relaxation. If you get the opportunity, just hang out and talk to Marcia. She has some great stories and is a really engaging conversationalist. I definitely recommend Janela de Marcia B&B as a unique boutique guesthouse. If I had to knock it down a quarter point, it would be that the bed was too firm and they only take cash. (Be advised that Brazilian ATMS will only dish out a total of R$500 per day, something I didn't know.) Otherwise, I can't praise this bed and breakfast enough. My wife and I would definitely return there on our next trip to Floripa.
