Jurys Inn, now The Leonardo, is in a perfect location to explore Galway. Walk out the door and you're right in the action with countless shops and pubs. The price tag for the hotel rooms, as other have mentioned, is definitely due to the location. It can't be beat. Breakfast is okay, with a selection of eggs, sausage, bacon, cereal, breads and a coffee machine. Small variety of fruit and yogurt as well. The rooms are absolutely tiny. We booked a family room and not sure what happened...the pull out couch barely fit our two young children and left zero space in the room. The bathroom was also small and had limited space even for towels, let alone counter space. I booked through Priceline, which I will never do again because our reservation was completely messed up. They didn't have the right number of people or the included breakfast reflected in the hotels reservation system. The front desk staff couldn't have been kinder though and sorted it all out rather quickly. If you're just a solo travel or a couple the rooms would be sufficient and it would probably make for a great home base during your time in Galway. read more

We have been to Galway a couple times before but this was the first time we stayed at this Leonardo Hotel (formerly Jurys Inn). It is located at a perfect location for walkability - right across the street from the Spanish Arch! We could see it from our window! This, of course, meant we were right at the foot of the Latin Quarter which is filled with noisy tourists and pubs. Our room was nicely fitted with two windows which cut out the noise sufficiently. Check in was a breeze! And our room was big and comfortable. With the change to Leonardo came refurbished rooms so it all felt pretty new. The staff were all friendly and very helpful. Two of the four evenings we were here, they offered late afternoon chocolate chip cookies and prosecco! A nice touch! We only had their breakfast one of the mornings. If you purchase it in advance, the price is reduced by a couple euros. They had standard Irish breakfast buffet offerings and the staff were friendly. I wasn't overly wowed by the breakfast and, since there are so many restaurants and coffee places nearby, I wouldn't recommend it here. read more

It is poorly managed, dirty and uncomfortable. In our room the soap dispenser was empty for more than two days. They never replenished the coffee. Milk or bottled water. Staff was pleasant but obviously understaffed and over worked. Never again is what my spouse said and I echo that!! read more

Some rooms have AC, others don't (currently having a heat wave). Windows don't open all the way. Power goes on and off on some floors. Manager put us on a corner room at street level - super loud - only worsened by the fact that they are refurbishing the hotel. While traveling through Ireland we stayed at three Jurys Inn hotels, this one was my least favorite, but through no fault of the hotel staff, furnishings, or the restaurant (all of these were great and consistent among the chain with minor differences) the HUGE problem here was location. In terms of restaurants, sight seeing and such the location is great, but if you want sleep and need quiet ask for a room AWAY from the main street out front. I got no sleep as I was serenaded by drunken bachelorettes, annoyed by drunk college boys arguing with an ambulance driver that was trying to take their drunk friend away, and the sound of security trying to wake a drunk woman who passed out beneath our ground floor window (which was closed, but not very good at keeping out the sound of the weekend party goers) who happened by until about 4am. read more

You can't beat the location. The Spanish Arch and the harbor are literally outside the entrance, and the surrounding streets are filled with restaurants, pubs, cafes and shops. The room was comfortable. We'd recommend Jurys to anyone--again, fantastic location and courteous, friendly staff. read more

My flight to Shannon arrived early in the morning. I felt so groggy after the rough trip and just wanted a nap, so I took the chance on a room being available earlier and headed to Jury's right from the airport. As we checked in, I noted that our room was on the second floor. The original blocked number had been scratched out. I asked about it and the front desk agent shrugged and said if we wanted to check in early, we had to take what was available. Here's my gripe: On my reservation, I specifically requested a quiet room on a higher floor. Jury's only has three floors, so the second was fine. What wasn't fine? The room was directly in front of the elevator. I was a front desk agent in college, so maybe I analyze too much, but if someone showed up early but had special requests, I would have suggested they stop and get a coffee or wander around the town until their room of choice was ready. If they were too tired, I'd warn them ahead of time and confirm the change with them before giving them arguably the worst room available in the hotel. I didn't sleep through either night of my stay at this hotel. Despite donning ear plugs, I was woken multiple times each night by the elevator noise, another odd buzzing sound I couldn't place, and other guests chatting as they waited for the elevator or walked to their rooms. It wasn't quiet in the least. I also don't think the amenities matched the price. I've stayed in other European hotels of similar standards for way cheaper. It was a typical bare bones setup with a too-firm bed and not enough electrical outlets. I would have loved to charge my phone from the twin bed, but only the double bed occupier had that luxury. I did, however, love the bathroom. It came equipped with large conditioning shampoo, body wash, and liquid soap containers. While they didn't provide two face towels either day, they were fast in running a second up on request. The shower itself was very nice too. Jury's does have an incredible location going for it. The car park is right next door and available at a discounted rate. Not to mention, the entrance to the Latin Quarter is steps away for easy access to delightful pubs and shops galore. read more

Unless you're the most low maintence person, do not stay here. The location is excellent- close to restaurants, the water, and a ton of shopping. Everything else isn't great. If you're going with friends you can make it work, but it's not good for a family. My family was told that we would get two rooms, each with two double beds. Instead we got two rooms with a double bed and small pull out couch. When we walked in to the first room there was a wet carpet and a fan, after being told the room was ready to go. Thankfully they moved us to a different room. Unfortunately, after that we were waiting in the lobby and the concierge and housekeeping staff were having a conversation about us and their miscommunication. That was incredibly unprofessional. We could hear every word they were saying. Beyond that, the amenities are below par. There is no AC, which is understandable, and no ice machine, which is not. There is a thick down comforter on the bed and no sheet. At the end of June in a place with no AC, this is absurd. It's lacking other typical amenities such as room service, number of towels, shampoo, etc. Don't stay here. read more

Comfortable rooms in an excellent location in the Latin Quarter, walk to all the pubs, shops, restaurants, ample parking in an adjacent public garage. Requests for things like housekeeping seem to be routinely ignored, however. The restaurant is unspeakably bad: do not order the breakfast. It is all buffet. We had overcooked back bacon (hard as a rock), undercooked potatoes, awful coffee, almost broke a knife on the cantaloupe. (The poached eggs were rather good, though). For what they charge it's unconscionable. Save your money and walk down the street: there are lots of places to eat, and all of them are better. It's a pity their standards aren't higher, or this might have been a winner. read more

Three of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay here in the autumn of 2017. Super helpful, too...we stayed at a nearby hotel for a few days, then (instead of carrying all our luggage to Paris for a few days) asked the Jury's Inn staff to hold our extra luggage until we checked in (a few days later). Location was perfect for our trip to Galway! It's literally steps to Quay St which is where all the restaurants, shops and pubs are! I loved being so close to everything. The hotel was very clean and well kept, staff were extremely friendly and very helpful with recommendations. We arrived late our first night and all the restaurants downtown close fairly early so we ended up eating in the hotels bar. It's small but food was great! Pretty good sized menu, everyone was satisfied with their orders and they had no problem serving us even though the kitchen has technically closed a few minutes before we were seated. We had a great view of Quay St from our room and we could hear live performers if we had our windows open! I would 100% recommendation this hotel to anyone visiting Galway! read more

Worst hotel and restaurant in Ireland. None of this is exaggerating, I promised. Parking and unloading are a nightmare. You have to park in the parking garage next door (not sure yet what that's going to cost us), drag your luggage down 2 flights of stairs and then back up another. Employees at front desk have zero personality or offered any help. No air conditioning in rooms. The mattresses in our room are ancient, no support or comfort (don't look like the pictures) The restaurant was another bad experience. We had to wave down a server to get a drink and we sat at the bar. As for the food, go something else. I will not stay or ever recommend a Jurys Inn ever. This is the hotel to stay at in the heart of Galway - it's super affordable, decorated nicely, has a bar and restaurant and is situated right at the start of Quay street where all the shopping, food and drinking (FUN) is to be had. It's a very short walk to the Spanish Arches and another short walk to the Cathedral. The water is literally across the street AND there is a parking garage right next door (your parking will be complimentary when you stay at the hotel). Check in was fast and the front desk staff was nice and knowledgeable - he even uploaded the WIFI to my cell phone which was very nice. Our room had a nice corner view and everything we needed. The location of the hotel is ideal. It is literally right at the beginning of the Latin Quarter which is full of Pubs, restaurants, shopping etc. Car park is right next door and a good value at 10 Euro for overnight parking. The hotel itself is very well appointed and the staff is super friendly and helpful. My gripes are that we booked the room for 2 adults and 2 kids. They pulled in a love seat sized pull out couch for the kids to sleep on, and it was so small that only one kid could sleep on it, and my daughter had to cram in the double bed with my wife and I. Don't get me wrong, I love my kids, but 3 peeps in a double bed is a bit much. It gets hot, and with no AC, you need to open the windows so you get all the drunken sounds from the pubs, so that can be a bit disturbing as well. Also, we booked for 4 people but they only put enough towels and shower supplies for 2 people. An oversight I suppose since they just dragged in the "love seat" sleeper for our stay. It was quite expensive as well. $230 Euro for one night, which is about $255 US dollars, seems to be a bit much for this place. For what we got, I'd probably pick somewhere else next time, but like I said, the location cannot be beat. read more

Staying in the hotel for 3 days for a 4 star hotel its very bog standard. The rooms wernt anything special after paying 360€ for this hotel it would of been better staying in the premier inn. The food was unwell and made me feel sick we had to send them back as they were not up to standard. A lot of parties which I don't mind. Had 2 rooms for 6 adults and two young children. The rooms were great, but be aware there is no air conditioning. That leads to opening the windows, which brings me to the only caution I have about staying here - it is in the heart of the action in Galway, and the partying around there goes on into the wee hours, so if you have a window open to let in the fresh air it can be noisy. The hotel was very accommodating and gave us 2 fans so we were able to keep the windows closed most of the night. Breakfast is great and the price is very reasonable. This is by no means the fanciest hotel in Galway, but I'm giving it 4 stars because the reception staff were top notch and the location is PERFECT. You literally walk out of the hotel and you are right on Quay street just steps from some of the best restaurants and bars in town. Driving through the city we actually saw some of the other hotels we were considering and none of them had the convenience of Jurys. As you may read in other reviews, there is parking right next to the hotel and you get a special discounted rate of ten euro per day if you are a hotel guest. the parking garage itself should be outlawed. I stayed here my last night in Galway because our first hotel the House Hotel was booked. The rates were slightly lower for the night (by about 10 Euros) but it was a Sat so very expensive. The staff were good, the rooms nice, and the views of the river were awesome, but I have to say compared to the House Hotel they were slightly less impressive. Still a quality establishment and I would recommend if the House is booked or too expensive or becomes pretentious with their success. read more

Update: there isn't a fan in the bathroom, and the tub was clogged when showering... Which left for a very hot room(as if 27degrees wasn't hot enough)... Applying make up to a face beading sweat was less than desirable. And the amount of sound that was from the windows was as if you were sitting in a pub, until nearly 2-3 in the morning... Stayed in jurys 3 days ago, what a treat. We were welcomed at reception by Sandra and just noticed she got married since our last meeting and duly congratulated her, maybe this is why she was so happy looking. She checked us in very efficiently and gave us our keys, got help with our luggage and directed us to our room. Our room was clean,bed was nice and comfy and we slept well. Shower towels and shampoo was plentiful and shower was nice and warm. Went down for breakfast and again was welcomed by Sandra she seated us and being a buffet breakfast she ordered tea and toast for us and made sure all our needs were met. We know she is with jurys quite a number of years so this maybe why she makes visitors feel comfortable practice makes perfect. She checked us out again before noon with a contagious smile and gave us directions to a few interesting places of interest to visit. Great location at the bottom of Shop Street near Galway's west end. Wide selection of restaurants and shops all within walking distance. The rooms were standard - no frills but provided a quiet place to sleep at night. The bed was very comfortable as we found with the window open the sound of the Corrib River provided a gently background sound for sleeping. read more

All of the rooms would have been great if they hadn't overbooked last room and charged us for all of the previously booked rooms. Because of this mishap half of our group had to find different accommodations 4 miles away with extremely short (day of) notice. For the inconvenience they gave us a free breakfast worth €9 but a simple call to inform us that they gave our room to someone else would have sufficed. Stayed here for two nights in July 2017. Check in was 2 PM. Room not ready on arrival at 3:50 PM. Left my bags in my sister's room and walked around town. When I came back around 5 PM, they advised that I was checked in. I said I didn't know where my niece was so could I have a key to the room, and they gave me one. Well imagine my surprise when I open the door and walked in on some strange couple lying in bed. They were dressed :-) but strangers nonetheless. They said they had just checked in. Went back to the lobby and explained what had happened. They asked me to sit down while they figured it out because they were insisting that I was checked into that room, and I was assuring them that no - apparently someone ELSE was. Ultimately (a half hour later), they gave me the room that that couple had reserved. Similar quality and all that. I asked for an upgrade, none was available that night. Also, since I was rooming with my niece I didn't want an upgrade (just one bed). They didn't even try to collect the room key from me I had to go back to the desk and tell them to take it. They sent a bottle of wine to my room. Too bad I don't really drink. This was actually a pretty significant safety hazard, for all hotel guests involved. Parking in the area was terrible. Hotel amenities were average, nothing special. So 2 out of 3 rooms not ready for check in more than an hour and a half after designated check in time. Terrible parking. Average amenities. Carelessness in check in process that had me walking into a stranger's hotel room. I would give this place a solid 2 out of 5 stars. read more
