She…read morestarted off asking me a few questions about my project, what I needed done, and what my budget was going to be. I told her I needed the kitchen, master bathroom and guest bathroom remodeled. Mind you, there will be no major floor plan changes, plumbing changes, nor electrical changes, so permits will not be needed at all for this 2200 sqft home. All I am doing is replacing what is there. My kitchen is about 14' x 14' with cabinets along two opposite walls, with a 7 foot peninsula coming out of one end, with upper cabinets only on one wall. The first thing she does is take my address and goes online to find pictures of my house on a real estate website to "guestimate" what my kitchen will cost based on photos that she looks at. She tells me $50,000. That's when I got suspicious about this place. I had three other estimates for my kitchen with measurements actually taken and they all came in around $25000. But the real kicker came when she gave me estimates for my two bathrooms based on photos again. Mind you, she has no idea of the sizes for these bathrooms, but based on the overall square footage, she knows it's not a 5000+ sqft home. For my guest bathroom, which is about 13' x 6', all I need replaced is the vanity, mirror, lights, toilet, and the alcove tub with tiling in the tub area, a simple job and nothing major. She quotes me $40,000. I nearly passed out, and now I'm thinking something is up. For the master bath, which is approximately 17' x 7' which includes a 6' x 5' shower (with interior tiling), two vanities, mirrors, and lights. She quotes me $60,000. Yes that's right, $60,000. That's when I knew something was up. (A) She either has no clue as to what she is doing, (B) they are giving me these outlandish prices because they are in high demand due to these times we are in at the moment and they just want to throw the highest most ridiculous price out there hoping it will stick, and if doesn't, no sweat off their back because they will just move on to someone who will pay their outlandish prices due to the demand, or (C) she was trying to dissuade me into wanting them to do the job because my budget ($50,000) wasn't worth their time and effort. I think (C) is most likely, if not all the above. Then come to find out there is a $5500 fee to have someone come out to take measurements in order to draw up a pretty design on a computer to get actual true estimates of what this project would cost. So you can see why I'm thinking (C). Please note, If you go to their page on Houzz you will see nothing but all 5 star reviews, not a 4 star or lower in site, and you will also see multiple completed projects with the same level of remodel I proposed, all done for under $50,000, completely proving my point. I will definitely be staying away, and finding a more honest business!

The kitchen also includes a microwave drawer, trash can drawer, specialty drawers, pull out drawers in some of the cabinets, soft close, etc. We have now recently hired them again to do our bathroom after severe water damage. They fit us in and gave us a better than ever bathroom in a reasonable time. They also gave us all the documentation we needed for our insurance company. We also had them recently do a custom craft room. It's also amazing! They made my dream come true and figured out exactly how to lay it out so everything would be setup perfectly in reach for all my different projects! The designers are great at listening to what you want and providing suggestions to make sure everything looks great. They have a great eye for colors and styles. Additionally all the workers are very professional and do high quality work. They show up on time and make sure every little detail is perfect. You can trust them to do the best from design to build!

ZERO STARS - Mold Hazard, Forced Evacuation, $150K+ Damages…read more Crafted AZ Remodeling (Mike and Julie Abbate, ROC #199425) - Midtown Phoenix (June-Oct 2025). HEALTH HAZARD: Failed to remove Gyp-Crete underlayment after water leak (standard practice for 50+ years). Didn't replace flooring under refrigerator adjacent to leak epicenter. Guest bathroom "repair" cosmetic only - ignored actual water damage. Environmental testing: 115x normal airborne mold levels. Immediate evacuation required. Forced into 12-month alternative housing. WHAT THEY MESSED UP: Improper water remediation with resulting mold from guest bathroom leak. Insurance denied coverage for workmanship. Forced to pay for all repairs out of pocket. Flooring: 428% markup, cheap laminate without cork underlayment (creates echos). Recommended herringbone pattern for highly irregular space, looks terrible ( pattern used only for square/rectangular rooms). Master bathroom: defective tile work, installed broken shower column with absurd double rain shower configuration, large pendant rain shower on low ceiling and redundant shower controls. Requires accent wall removal/retiling with all new hardware. I redesigned entire shower myself in 15 minutes at design studio, Crafted did not even put in this much effort. Painted entire unit yellow without authorization while I was out of town, no samples provided. Charged for column plaster never performed (only "necessary" because they cut floors improperly). Double-billed for baseboard painting. Different subcontractors daily with poor supervision. Attempted to enter property without permission (after being told twice to stop work) in order to lock in substandard plumbing. Took paid materials when terminated for cause. Also left unit unlocked for a week while I was working out of town. REFUSES RECEIPTS: Attorney demand letter sent requesting receipts and documentation. 6+ weeks - zero response. Claims it is "not industry standard" to keep receipts for such projects. TOTAL DAMAGE: Mold remediation, kitchen/guest bath reconstruction, master bath corrections, repainting entire unit, 12 months alternative housing, moving expenses. Over $150,000 out of pocket to fix their work with one year of planned relocation. LEGAL ACTIONS: ROC complaint filed (inspection Feb 2026), Attorney General complaint filed, BBB complaint filed, preparing for lawsuit. Will update review once completed. Despite creating uninhabitable conditions, only response from Crafted is a demand for an additional $21,092. Other contractors confirmed 4+ units in my building were properly remediated from similar leaks. Crafted did not recognize Gyp-Crete underlayment despite removing all flooring (acts as sponge when wet). We had traditional tongue and groove pine ceiling that is still used in building all the time. They installed the new ceiling intermixed with our old ceiling and proceeded to stain the new boards with an airless sprayer after they were in our house. Not only did this leave a layer of stain everywhere that I had to scrub off and can't remove from all surfaces, it did not match the beautiful pre existing ceiling. When we complained we were told that was the best they could do. It was so far off from our original ceiling that it was unacceptable. They offered to install the new ceiling in place of the old material but expected us to pay for all of the material and labor involved. After going back and forth and the company owner trying to make us sound like we were the bad homeowners trying to stiff him he agreed that he would replace the old ceiling and we could just pay what we thought was fair. We honestly didn't think we should pay anything to replace the ceiling that we absolutely loved, but we did agree to pay for the materials. When it was all said and done he charged us the full amount. We were left with a ceiling that looked nothing like our original, beautiful ceiling and a hefty bill that would remain as a lien on our home if we did not pay. The fact that they were unable to match the ceiling should have been brought to our attention before the additional new ceiling was installed. It is just better for you to go elsewhere if you want a morally sound company that stands behind their work.
