A great local experience that you must do while visiting the Ft Myers area. Captain Joe and his wife Glenda run a small Charter business off Main street before crossing the bridge to the Island. Their boat accommodates a party of six with comfort. And Captain Joe knows his water and history very well. We booked the 10am departure for a two hour dolphin and sight seeing cruise. Not only did we see the dolphins, but they chased us in the boat! It was a thrill to watch them play and interact with us. His business also does Kayak trips into the local waters. Stop looking and book Captain Joe's tour! My husband and I had the boat to ourselves for a sunset cruise last night ($159 + tip) and boy it did not disappoint. The boat is so fun first of all and you might see the folding chair and think, really? But they are super comfy and just what you need to move around if you'd like. We took a beautiful cruise through a number of bays and watched the sunset before heading back in. Joe is as talkative or quiet as you'd like!! He was very informative when we asked questions, but is happy to just let you be as well. We brought on a bottle of wine, cheese and almonds and had the most relaxing time. It is a great way to see more of the Ft Myers area on water without cramming into a boat with 60 people. Well, well worth it. We loved every minute. The booking process was very simple and easy as well. Definitely a five star experience!!! read more

We decided we wanted to take a boat ride and we called Captain Joe. We are so glad we did! There were 6 of us and that was just right for his boat the Jaybird II. Eaters bay is just gorgeous-- We saw some beautiful homes beaches and nature and wildlife. The highlight of our trip was when we found some dolphins and they swam and jumped along side the boat. Five dolphins and a baby!!! We went all the way to Lovers Key and back. We brought our own cooler and had a great time talking to Captain Joe and learning more about this part of Florida. For our group - age 84-15 this was the perfect trip. read more

I'm a snowbird and live down here and have a boat, but unfortunately it was being repaired while friends were visiting, so I suggested taking a dolphin tour, before one of my guests had to leave that evening. So we hooked up with captain joe. I've taken tours before, and they have been on big boats, with dozens of other people, where you hope to get the right seat. And if you do, and see wildlife, the great masses will hover over you to see and take pictures, or you do that to the other strangers on the boat. So we were quite thrilled to find that us 4 were the only passengers. This is not a big boat. So if that's what you want, move on and share your experiences with the masses. We had 4 heavy duty chairs that were movable on the bow of the boat, so we could arrange as needed. Captain joe took us in the bay, including Hells Pickney Bay, and explained the route to me as I'm new to the area, which was helpful and appreciated. We saw a stingray, heard there were manatees in the area but didn't see them. Which is okay with me. They are not that exciting. But we saw dolphins. A lot of them. 3 different pods. We putt putted around and watched them play. When we took off, a pod of 3 followed our wake, jumping and zooming along side the boat. It was magical. My friends and myself throughly enjoyed ourselves and the experience. My sister and I wanted to do something special and different for my Dad's 60th birthday, and thanks to Yelp we stumbled across Just Add Water and Sun! We checked out the website and sent in a request for more information regarding the sunset cruise, and Captain Joe got back to my sister within fifteen minutes of the request being submitted. Not only were we able to book the boat for our family of four (all adults) with no issues at all, but there was constant communication throughout our booking experience up through our boat cruise! We arrived about fifteen minutes before our scheduled sunset cruise and were happy greeted by Captain Joe's wife, and then Captain Joe! We hopped onto the boat which had four padded (quite comfortable) folding type chairs and a small bench which can be lifted up to put items that you don't want getting wet. We embarked on our cruise right on time. It was a great warm night with calm waters and we fully enjoyed cruising the coastline before heading out into the water between Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel to see the sunset. Captain Joe is extremely personable and full of knowledge of the coast, including the local wildlife. We absolutely enjoyed not only seeing the sunset but also conversing with him throughout our trip! After viewing the sunset, as we were heading back in, we were lucky to have a small pod of dolphins come into our wake and start playing in the bubbles/in our wake! I have never seen a dolphin so close before, and absolutely loved being able to watch them in the water. If you are in search of an extremely reasonable, relaxing, (and even romantic if you are with a significant other) experience - do not hesitate to book Captain Joe for a sunset cruise! read more

Captain Joe gave our family a fantastic experience. His knowledge of the marine and plant life was amazing. He knew how to turn and get the dole hon in the wake so they would 'play' while we were headed toward the shelling island. My wife and I went on 2 hour Dolphins cruise with Captain Joe today. First Captain Joe is Very laid back guy,you can tell he's a people person & Loves just being on the water. He makes you very comfortable the whole time on his boat. We were hopeful at best to see any Dolphins, but Captain Joe got us to see Dolphins that we're all around us everyone was to get multiple photos. Then he was able to get the Dolphins to chase the boat where they were jumping out of the water everyone was thrilled. You want money Well spent you have to see Just add Water and Sun.
