Ok, so I'll admit that when I first approached this shop looking for a wedding dress I thought it would be something of a comedy experience, given the interesting window displays. I was pleasantly surprised then, to find that all is not what it seems from the outside and that JFY was actually a fantastic shop with a humongous range of dresses to suit a wide range of women, from cocktail bride to ballroom bride. The huge premises is split into to two sides; bridal gowns on the left, bridesmaids and prom dresses on the right. The large selection of bridal gowns include the likes of Maggie Sottero and Benjamin Roberts and while the staff offer their opinions, they are happy to sit back and let you try on a range of different styles. I didn't really know what I was looking for when I went in and the member of staff assigned to helping me was very patient as I trawled through all the rails. There are also prom dresses and bridesmaid dresses but I didn't really pay that much attention as I was to busy wondering what I'd look like in THAT Sex and the City Vivienne Westwood inspired dress... Prices are competitive and sales are a regular occurrence so stock often moves quite quickly depending on the time of year. Appointments are essential at weekends though I only had to ring up on the day for my midweek afternoon appointment. On your first visit you are asked to fill out a couple of forms and the process is quite business like but after this initial stage the staff are more relaxed and give you plenty of time to pick and choose the designs you want to try on. read more

As the previous review said, On the approach you are a little worried from the outside of the building but when you get in, your opinion changes. When we first arrived we were met by quiet a stressed lady who seemed to be the owner( i assume). but there was another lady who seem to be more involved with the bridesmaids side of things, she was very nice and very help full. They were quiet help full and did everything to make us feel welcome offering us teas and taking their time. I assume your wondering why I only gave it 2 stars after starting of with such lovely words, well that's how it begun with my visit but it soon changed after that......... As soon as the money reached their hands it felt like they didn't have much time of day for me. Every time I spoke to one women in particular (who I think I mentioned as the ''slightly stressed one'') she was very rushed and mainly rude to me. She had no time really for me. The one thing that became apparent was their time keeping skills. I ordered my dress in October and told it would safely be here in January. Well my dress after many endless phone calls (getting know where) it arrived in APRIL. My bridesmaids dresses which were ment to arrive beginning of may arrived beginning and middle of JUNE for some reason separately even though they were ordered together. Well I think you've got the pattern there. Their reasoning everytime for these was - -the designers will see when your wedding date is and don't always rush if there's a while until it.(not a valid reason to me) - its just one of those things (was mentioned quiet a few time. For me it has not been a stress free enjoyable time. I'm not one to be always negative but i just wanted to let future brides aware, as it should be fun and stress free. read more

This shop was unfortuantely recommended to me. I regret walking through the door! Shopping for your wedding dress is supposed to be an enjoyable experience, in this shop it was not. Yes they have a large range of dresses, but they are grubby and either size 6 or size 22 so for us normal beings nothing fits. The shop owner is massively pushy and the staff are stressed. We booked and apointment that lasted 1hr 30mins but after about 55mins we were told that we only had a few minutes left and could only try 1 more dress on. In summary it was horrible read more

I had a total nightmare using this shop for my wedding in 09. We spent a large chunk of our budget in one place, ordering my wedding dress, three bridesmaids dresses and five mens suits.. One of my bridesmaids went for her first fitting in June, and when she arrived there was some confusion over where her dress was. The bridesmaids dresses were being stored with my wedding dress in the main bridal shop. Using her name, AND my name, it still took a long time to locate the dresses before she could have her fitting. During her fitting, it was decided that her dress needed taking in around the bust. The girl doing the fitting pinned the dress down the boning at the front - and caught my bridesmaids chest with a pin at one point. There was then a discussion between her and another member of staff where the girl doing the fitting was told the dress had to be pinned down the sides as it could not be taken in along the boning at the front, so my bridesmaid then had to be unpinned and re-pinned along the seams down the sides. On the morning of my fitting a week later, I phoned to check a few details about the dresses. The person I spoke to on the phone was very helpful, and even confirmed the appointment time with me. We had to leave Taunton once my bridesmaid had arrived from Yeovil, and travelled to Bristol for our midday appointment. At 10:50am (once we had already left) I got a phone call on my mobile with a voicemail saying the dresses were not ready for fitting. I called back immediately and spoke to the person on main desk. She said there was a note in the book that the dresses were not ready as they were still pinned. After some discussion we agreed the bridesmaid dress must be a misunderstanding as only one of the bridesmaids had been fitted. However, my dress was not ready for a fitting. Having telephoned and re-arranged the appointment a few times and even phoning the shop THAT MORNING, I was unimpressed that I did not get told until just over an HOUR BEFORE the fitting that my dress wasnt ready. We had a voicemail left on our house phone the evening before the appointment, but it was not picked up until we returned from Bristol - but no one had called my mobile. However, the evening before an appointment is enough notice, my Mum had to take the day off work to travel to Bristol and even if we had got the message the evening before, it would have been too late for her to change her day off. I was then told when we arrived that it is standard practice for your shop to contact the bride when the alterations are done to make an appointment - this makes sense, but contradicts what we were initially told. It was almost 8 weeks since my initial fitting when we travelled back to the shop, so I was concerned that nothing has been done to my dress. We ordered extra material for the mens cravats and some added detail to my dress, and when it arrived we were told that not enough had been ordered, and were then told there was not enough time to guarantee any more was able to be ordered but they would do their best. We negotiated to order the mens suits as well as the shop matched the Moss Bros offer, and were told the price we were given was inclusive of everything. When the men arrived, they discovered the details were not written down, although fortunately I had given them the information to take with them as well, and the man who was meant to be doing the fitting was not there. The fitting was done by two women who didnt seem to know what they were doing (my Fathers words). After the fitting the deposits were paid for the suits, the sales staff tried to charge for the grooms suit, although they explained it was agreed this would be free, so they accepted that. Then when they were paying, an additional £6 per suit was added as ACCIDENTAL COVER! When we eventually got to just before the wedding we went to collect my wedding dress and took it back to my parents house, upon opening the bag (as we had been told to lay the train out in order for it not to crease) there was a massive dirty footprint in the middle of the train!!!! We phoned to complain and were told to send the dress back with the men when they went to collect their suits two days before the wedding - I stated that I was categorically NOT sending my wedding dress up with my husband-to-be as given the amount of problems, I would not have been surprised if they'd unzipped the bag there and then in front of him. Eventually we used pampers baby wipes (!!) to clean the footprint, although it was still slightly visible. All in all the service was atrocious. I sent a formal complaint, and received nothing further than an acknowledgement and apology, nothing was rectified. I would NOT buy from this shop, although their range is good and it would be good for research purposes if nothing else! read more

I walked into this SHOP expecting to be able to at least look around, we were greeted by VERY rude women who spoke to me like I was a naughty 2 yr old child. They said that nobody is allowed to look around the shop and everyone has to make an appointment which ok, not great but fair enough, but the fact that there were 4 members of staff hanging around drinking tea and chatting and not a single other customer in there I found hard to digest, there I was looking to spend up to £2,000 on a dress and I wasn't even greeted with a smile was quite frankly, shocking! This shop could have the dress of my dreams but I will never step foot in there again, I have never in my life been spoken to (or even looked at!) how I was in JFY brides, think they need to change the name of their "shop". JFY brides, if you want to gain custom, read up on customer skills and how to be curtious, appalling. read more

I have to say I was completely shocked at such rude service when walking into this store on two occasions. The staff were completely rude. We walked in and received no greeting at all....simply nothing she just carried on at the desk and waited for me to approach her!! :-s I had came into store with my sister and our babies who were in pushchairs I apologised and just said they will be good as gold(which they were) and the lady who wore glasses was so unpleasant and said yes your right it isn't really ideal at all tutting and sighing, which made us feel so unwelcome and uneasy almost as though they were judging us. ( we both work and were on Mat leave whilst planning my big day) anyway I finally asked if I could try on a dress as it was quite with no one in the store and Again she was rude and sighed saying well I'll have to find someone to help you but not sure you will be able to today, although there were staff members standing around. Bottom line is I tried on a dress loved it it was perfect but decided not to purchase it which was a real shame due to the lack of service, rude staff unwelcome service and judgmental surrounding. The dress I wanted to buy was £999 so was nothing cheap but because of this ( the lady specifically with short dark hair and glasses) I'm glad to say I didn't. I walked out the shop to think about it and the thought of having to deal with these people again and even get measure by them made me feel so uneasy and I simply didn't want to hand over my hard earned money to a company who are clearly not doing their job right which is ensuring every bride is made to feel special. The young girl who helped me try on the dress which I had chosen her name being Elle, Was the only person who had a smile and good mannor about her. Over all I was completely upset by the experience and shall not be recommending and leaving any further bad reviews about this store where I can. Google reviews on this store isn't at all great and wish I had read those before enduring my horrid experiance. I ended up purchasing my dress that same day in town at bereketex who were absolutely amazing I was so happy to give them my money their service was spot on they loved having our babies there and actually embraced the fact by having cuddles and smooching over them which made me feel amazing so I could try on their beautiful dresses. read more

Please brides DO NOT USE thes people We brought 2 bridesmaid and 2 flowergirl dresses in here. Everything they told us about the Direct service was wrong, every time you call you get a diffrent story. They are so RUDE. They totaly messed all our dresses up and ordered all the wrong sizes from what they messured. We went back over and over again trying to get them to fix it, and we lived 25 miles away each time, we had an apointment we'd arrive and theyd say we cant do it today come back in a month I have finaly taken the dresses home and plan to pay someone else to sort them If you take anyone in with you while you are looking or trying on dresses they are rude, even told me i wasnt to bring any one the next time When I finaly got the dresses from them they just threw them on counter and stormed off There realy nice to you when you buy but they do not want to know any after services and clearly cant even get the right sizes Instead of saying sorry for there mess ups they just become very rude Pop down to weston super mare theres plenty of nice Wedding shops there, i wish id got mine in weston now the only thing that apealed to me with this shop was that they had alot more samples than any other shop I seen Thinking about it now, they propbly were never intended as samples there probly all the dresses they messed up read more

When i first went to the shop looking for my wedding dress the staff were really helpful, untill i had chose my dress and paid the deposit then all changed. When i went for my fitting the sevice i recieved was very poor. What should have only taken 20 mins took an hour as i was left standing in my dress in the middle of the shop while the assistant was off seeing to other customers. I was also told that my alterations would only cost me £30 but instead i ended up paying £145 which i think is discusting. When i went back for my last fitting i could of cryed they did not do the alterations right so they had to redo them, there was also two stains on the front of my dress that were not there when i paid for my dress. W hen the stains were pointed out to them they said that do not clean the dress and i would have to clean it myself. If it was not for my bridesmaid being with me and telling the assistant that they have to clean it as they were the ones who put the stain on it then i would of been getting married in a dirty wedding dress. I would not recommend this shop to anyone as they added to the stress of planning my wedding. read more
