This was a waste of $25. We took my 3 y/o son to Just Kidding because he was in serious need of a haircut before his bday party, and we couldn't get in to our usual barber. They have all the requisite kid's paraphanalia... suckers, cute kiddie decor with car chairs, etc. My son enjoyed all of that. However, the haircut had no style - it was barely a step up from a bowl cut (which I could have done at home for free). I was not impressed. Additionally, when I called to make the appt, the receptionist was very short - borderline rude - with me. If you get paid to strictly answer phones and greet customers, you should be able to execute some customer service skills (even on a busy saturday morning!). That is basically your only job requirement, right??? Anyway, my assessment of this salon is that it's overpriced and you don't really get what you pay for. I would not recommend it. read more

I've taken my daughter here for haircuts twice now, and have been so pleased each time! I wish we lived in the area to go regularly (we live on the east coast & visit grandparents in the area). My daughter's first haircut was at 20 months - I was too scared to go before then! But she got right into the special car/bus to get her haircut in, we picked Sesame Street to play on her personal TV screen, and she truly did not notice she was getting her haircut. The stylist listened to me when I changed my mind and wanted a bit shorter - my daughter walked out with an adorable bob. We were back in town this weekend, and I showed a different stylist a picture of the style I wanted her to cut, and it was again a perfect cut & experience. We also have gotten hair bows both times we've gone, and they were super reasonable. I'm hoping to get most of her haircuts here until we can graduate out of the kiddie salons! read more

Very unimpressed. Stylish were super rushed, did not go out of her way to interact with my daughter at all, asked for a cut just passed her shoulders and ended up with a chin length bob even though I asked her (again) early on not to go so short. Also had to ask her not to dry brush my daughters ringlet curls- she was sooo rough! read more

I really wish I would have read the other reviews before booking an appointment for my 15 month old. Our stylist was Lori and she was impersonal and had no interest in any interaction with our son. Since we were there to comfort and calm him during the haircut, I wouldn't have minded the poor service if the haircut had been decent. Unfortunately, the haircut was horrible. Uneven doesn't even begin to describe it. After some fussiness at first, he sat perfectly still for the rest of the cut, so there is no excuse for the poor job aside from lack of ability or plain laziness. Judging by Lori's attitude, I think it was the latter. Also, when I originally called (during business hours) to make an appointment, no one answered the phone. The message prompted you to leave a VM with your name and # and someone would get back to you ASAP. Several days later, I had to follow up with another call as I never heard back from anyone. Took my two year old son here today. I usually have a friend do it cause he can be very picky but I decided to give this place a try since they have all the fun kiddo stuff to keep him entertained. I hadn't read great reviews but it was the closest kid friendly place so I figured I'd risk it. So glad I did! The price is a bit high but from what I've seen it's pretty standard. I did not schedule an appointment (sign says they take walk-ins) and when we walked in there was initially no stylist to take us because she didn't have a cut for another 20-30 minutes so she had walked to grab a Starbucks. The receptionist said she should be back soon. She was back within less than 5 minutes and she took us right away. I had a few pictures of how I like my son's hair (last time I tried taking him to a kiddie place they did a hack job and it looked TERRIBLE -- Whimsikidz in Tosa). The stylist-Colleen- looked at the pictures and asked me a few questions. I told her i wasn't sure how he would do and she reassured me that she is used to cutting the hair of squirmy kids. She put my son in the car chair and asked if he could have a lollipop. Fine by me. Whatever works. She also got out a bunch of fun car toys for him to play with. He was happy. He struggled a bit during the cut but she was incredibly patient and SO good about talking to my son-- reassuring him, distracting him and telling him all about the prize he would get to pick out when he was done. At one point he decided he didn't like wearing the cape so she took it off--very flexible and willing to adjust--an important quality in a person who cuts kids hair! She used clippers to get a close cut around his ears and neck and she showed it to him first and explained it to him so he wouldn't be scared. She listened to me about the style and gave him exactly what I had asked for! When she was finished I was so impressed by how good of a job she had done, despite my son's protesting. Needless to say, big fan of Colleen and we will definitely be going back. My son got to pick out a small prize when he was done and he thought all the toys were so cool it was hard to get him to leave. I saw a girl getting her hair cut and at the end they put in a cute little braid and some sparkle hair glitter. So cute. It was a busy day so I appreciated them accommodating me and doing such a great job. read more

I had made an appointment at 2:05 pm for my son to see a stylist at 2:40 pm that same day. I arrived at the Whitefish Bay location at 2:30 pm hoping that the stylist may be able to get to my son earlier. At 2:48 pm the receptionist mentioned the stylist was driving from West Bend and was running behind. I expected to wait a few more minutes, but when 3 pm rolled around and the next client came in I knew there was no way I would be getting a hair cut. When I went up to tell the receptionist I was leaving, she said no one told the stylist that she was scheduled at 2:40 pm with her normal schedule starting at 3 pm. I was a little surprised to hear that the stylist didn't know she was scheduled at 2:40 pm considering I had just scheduled the appointment a half an hour earlier that day. Also, I was even more surprised to find out the receptionist happened to also be the owner. If the stylist wasn't able to make it in by the scheduled time then I should have been given a call to reschedule, but instead I waited 30 minutes to only find out she wasn't coming in. This is unacceptable customer service especially from the owner. I did receive a half-off voucher to use at my next visit, which I did so at the Mequon location. Even though I did have a positive experience there I am having a hard time justifying supporting a business that is owned by someone with such a lack of customer service. Also, an email was sent to Just Kidding a day after this occurred to give them a chance to explain why this happened but received no response. read more

We took our son here for his first haircut. The stylist did a good job, but I wouldn't say it's the cleanest salon. The rocket ship chair that my son sat in still had hair from the previous haircut. Wish they would clean up more between clients. Don't plan on returning. read more

I really don't understand the negative reviews here. We have been coming to Just Kidding for 13 years now, since my oldest was 2 years old. We have never received anything but top notch service. Our regular stylist, Colleen, is wonderful. One of my children has mild autism, and for over a year thrashed and screamed during his haircut, to the point where I offered her earplugs to get through it. She just cheerfully cut his hair, and was able to help him to the point where he absolutely loves to come here now. My children and I adore this place, and I willingly drive the 60 miles it takes to get there. Highly, highly recommended. read more

I've taken my son here for several haircuts since he was about 18 months old. Considering all they put up with, I think the stylists do a great job. We've had one bad haircut out of five, and I chalk that one up to my son having a total meltdown in the chair. I'm so glad this place exists, because I can't imagine him sitting still anywhere else. That said, he gets a standard "little boy haircut" every time, and I'm not sure whether the stylists deviate much from the traditional look. I'll have to ask at our next appointment. My husband and I just took our 1-year old son for his first haircut, and we were all traumatized. The stylist (blonde lady, didn't catch her name) started by roughly combing through his hair after I explained he had just come from daycare and had some snarls in it. He immediately started crying and his scalp turned red. This continued through the rest of the haircut, even though I told her that the rough combing was hurting him. She couldn't be bothered to slow down or talk nicely to him, just switched on the TV and kept going. She couldn't wait to get rid of us and our poor crying baby. I would gladly pay this place's high prices if it were staffed by stylists that actually care about kids or try to not hurt them. I would give zero stars if it were an option. read more

Please don't take your child here. Took my daughter for a bob haircut. The stylist was 25 min late and was so rushed that she didn't make sure my daughter's hair was even. Had to take to her to have another haircut at ScottFree the same day because the haircut was so uneven and poorly done. Thankfully their stylist was able to fit her in and fix most of the disaster created at Just Kidding for almost the same cost in a professional and lovely environment. read more

We walked in a few minutes late and the lady clearly lied to us by saying that they were booked full and we had to reschedule. There was no one at the place and there was a sign that said walk-ins on the door. She had a rude attitude and made us come back three hours later on the same day when she previously said wee had to come back the next day. They clearly have employees who lie and don't care. The woman who gave him a cut rolled her eyes when I showed her pictures od what I was looking for and didn't pay attention. She went ahead and did whatever she wanted and cut the sideburns the wrong way. They prefer checks or cash and was definitely a waste of my $25. She barley even touched my son's hair and didn't even wash it. They probably use the same comb every time without washing it; then they probably wonder why there's lice in the store. I would definitely not return especially because of the employees rudeness. I would never come back. There is almost no parking available. read more

I wish I had listened to the reviews before I booked the appointment. We had a terrible experience. I had a 10:00 am appointment for my daughter for a cut before her first communion. The stylist didn't seat her until nearly 10:30 and then refused to wash her hair and blow dry it, saying we hadn't made an appointment and she didn't have time to do it. I said that I clearly said it was for a wash, cut and blow dry for first communion when I made the appointment for which she was already 30 minutes late. In addition, when we arrived I saw a sign for kid manicures and asked if they could do it and the girl at the desk said yes, that the stylist (who I think was the manager) had a break after my daughter's appointment and an opening after that and could do the manicure after her hair. The store is noisy and crowded with people standing all over. We walked out at 10:40 since they couldn't do the job properly and I was able to get a same day appointment at Neroli Spa in Bayshore FOR THE SAME PRICE! They will wash and blow dry as well. read more
