My relationship with Just Lookin started with a call to the gallery in search of hard to find artwork by a recently deceased artist. I was so happy to learn the gallery did have the artist's work available, and the owner Eileen was so gracious to email me photos. I couldn't wait to visit. A visit I anticipated would only be a couple of hours, turned into about six! My breath was taken away by the sight of all the ORIGINAL Black art... wall-to-wall, framed and unframed, on the shelves, in sleeves, on canvas, on paper, different mediums... paintings, sculptures, quilts... by artists national and international. I've never experienced anything like it! And as if the art isn't enough, Eileen, is so engaging and a pleasure to get to know. Her knowledge of the Black art industry is incredible. I encourage all collectors living-in or traveling-to the DMV to visit this humble jewel of a gallery; the website doesn't do it any justice! It's certainly worth the trip. read more

We are art collectors that became frustrated with galleries that only carried reproductions so we decided to open a gallery devoted to original art that is both affordable and meaningful.

I love art! From my first posters to the originals that I now own, art has always enriched my life. My first career was as a commercial photograher and I traveled a lot on assignments. I went to art galleries and museums wherever I was. My appreciation and understanding of art is something I love to share.

I wandered into this art museum when they were doing exhibit installation and part of it was…read moreclosed. Entry was free, so there was no reason not to go. It was way too cold to go outside, but this museum is next to a lake in a park area that would admit of some walking during the summer. Despite the limited selection, I found a compelling suite of Americana and a nice atrium and event space in the middle of the museum. There were some pieces worthy of thought, and I rather wished I'd been in to see the visiting exhibition. Having said that, for a community the size of Hagerstown to have a building that looks this nice, is free, and has quality art is a great resource.

The museum has a good variety of exhibitions for visitors to enjoy as well as a permanent collection of art pieces. The Museum also exhibits the art of local students each year, which is always a treat. It's free to the public (donations are happily accepted) and visitors are greeted by the friendly staff as soon as they enter. I've been visiting this museum since I was a child and still very much enjoy it. Definitely give it a try the next time you're in the area!

This is cool ice cream shop where they use the milk straight from the cows on the farm. You know…read moreit's the real deal when ice cream is melting in minutes in your hand. They have a lot of unique flavors. Not a huge fan of the amount of food coloring used and some flavors do taste a little artificial or a bit too sweet for my adult taste buds. But the staff were nice in explaining what was in each flavor, double checking for allergies, and providing us samples. Their smallest size was $3.50 when I went this month which is decent. I like that they are flexible with the amount of flavors you can mix as long as it fits in the cup. Located in the midst of a farm you can cross the road to pet some cows making it a fun excursion with kids. Of course that also means that if you were to eat the ice cream outside, you will be greeted with the smell of manure and there really isn't any space inside to eat.
