If I could give zero stars, I would. I deeply regret hiring this firm. In my experience, I was repeatedly passed from one employee to another, received very little meaningful advocacy, and ultimately felt that I had paid for little more than someone to act as a middleman between me and the opposing party during settlement negotiations. I hired an attorney to represent and advocate for me--not simply to relay messages and settlement offers back and forth. And before there is any suggestion that I was never a client, that this review is fake, or that I have this firm confused with someone else: I have my signed retainer agreement, payment records, emails, and communications documenting my relationship with this firm. I would welcome any attempt to claim otherwise. I have filed/reported a grievance concerning attorney Shawn Jaffer with the State Bar of Texas regarding what I believe was unprofessional conduct during my representation. The Bar can independently review the documentation and determine whether any professional rules were violated. If you have had a similar experience with this attorney or firm, document your own experience and consider using the State Bar of Texas grievance process. Don't rely solely on reviews--let the appropriate regulatory authority evaluate the conduct. I wish I had researched this firm more carefully before hiring them. I was VERY disappointed in this law firms abismal performance. I have never been in this position before, so I had no idea what was needed of me/ what I needed to do going in. They offerred no help at all. I am on the east coast and they had the initial court date scheduled for after business hours, and luckily the creditor missed it as well. Unfortunately for me I was not so lucky the second time around. I didn't event know about the second court case until my representative at the firm told me an agreement had been decided. On top of that a year later when I tried to get me a copy of my agreement they said it had been too long. I have NEVER heard of data being deleted after only one year. Be careful with this firm. They were relentless in chasing me for my case -- calling, emailing, following up constantly -- making me believe they were the right choice. They even told me I had "the most organized file" they'd seen and made it sound like they could handle everything. Based on that, I passed on other firms and went with them. Once I was signed, the energy completely dropped. Suddenly I was the one chasing them for updates. I was told the attorney on my case "was no longer with the firm" and that someone else would pick it up. Cassidy, their paralegal, told me letters had already been sent on my behalf, so I thought progress was happening. It wasn't. After more than a month of waiting, I got a generic email from Shawn Jaffer himself saying the firm was "not interested" in my case. No explanation, no ownership, no acknowledgment that I'd just lost over 30 days of my limited legal window because I relied on their word. They manipulated Me into signing a bogus and fraudulent contract that I never agreed to. I agreed to giving them only 35 percent of the settlement Money and I would get the other share of the settlement Money. I agreed to this on a recorded phone conversation yet they presented a contract that includes legal fees and paralegal fees and other fees that I never agreed to so I fired them. JAFFER Law placed a lien on Me for 22 thousand dollars because they think I'm going to settle My case for 25 thousand dollars and they believe that they are entitled to 22 thousand dollars of My Money. This Law firm would not give Me the recorded phone conversation that verified the original agreement they are scammers who have done this to several people. I refuse to allow JAFFER Law to capitalize on My trauma I will be sueing Heather Hersh and Shawn Jaffers in small claims court for misleading and scamming Me into signing a contract that I never agreed to.... I'll be going to BBB and the State Bar aswell be careful not to deal with these people they need to be disbarred..... I wish I would've read the reviews before hiring them. My case settled 2 months ago and I have not gotten my money yet and they will not come to the phone.

I fired this firm after they reviewed my complaint and they confirmed that the three credit bureaus were at fault for illegally reporting incorrect information on my report. I spent tireless hours resending information and documents over and over. If the lost a paralegal, they lost all MY DOCUMENTS! and the nightmare of sending everything again. New people would start and I would have to explain my whole story again. The new person would agree that I would be well compensated for my credit score plummeting from 800 to, at one point in the six hundreds. I was furious. Long story short, after tireless hours, days, months and over a year of sending documents over and over, my paralegal calls and said her boss, Shawn Jaffer now said my case was only worth 2,500. I was furious! who does all this work for half of 2,500 (the law firm gets half) and that's not even a slap on the hand of these big credit bureaus. I suddenly realized they were powerless. I had been taken for a ride. THEN the topping on the cake was in the mediation meeting with EXPERIAN, I was made a fool of when they showed me ONE SINGLE DOCUMENT that I had never seen over the year working with them proved THEIR CASE showing the information they receive from the lender. They argued if you deceived these Docs from a lender you must record it on the credit report. They argued this is not an error on our part, it's an error on the lenders part. I was mortified and embarrassed that my counsel had never seen this information where it was clearly not the Credit Reporting Company's fault and my layer didn't way a thing. Just let them sit there and scold me! I kept asking why are you asking me all these questions to try to prove me I wants being honest, when all I need was to see this doc they had that my counsel DIDNT. And my counsel didn't not step in to even defend me! Just sat there!!!! I asked for a break and called my lawyer and told them we must drop the case. Shawn Jaffer law firm said they were going to take the Credit Bureau 5k settlement offer!!!! I got NOTHING and am going after the actual guilty offenders. By myself. Still have the bad credit and got not one dime. I would give them a zero instead of a one if possible. Wow. I wish I had of read all of the terrible reviews about this firm. I reached out to them looking for an attorney to handle an identity theft case because I haven't been able to get anywhere with the bureaus. I sent them in all of my information, identity theft affidavit - signed and notarized, police report, copies of my social security number, all of my credit reports - only for them to email me last night around midnight saying they couldn't handle my case because it was an ex who stole my identity and the other lawyer could say I allowed him to. Like what?!?!!! Anyone can steal your credit information, mother, brother, sister - anybody; it doesn't mean a lawyer should turn your case down because of it. I also sent them in 2 other inaccurate accounts which had nothing to do with identity theft but inaccurate reporting - crickets on that. I will report this firm to the state, whether it goes anywhere who knows. But what I do know is they knew it was an ex who stole my identity when I first contacted them and they continued to request more and more information from me. And for me to never speak to an attorney before they decided they couldn't handle my case, is disappointing. read more

Unless you want a worse mess than you already have - contact a different group of Attorneys! Their practices are highly unethical and yes, I've filed with the State Bar of Texas and other overseers. I have only begun to fight to expose them for the criminals they are. They did help me get rid of a creditor that was harassing me over a debt I did not owe. However, they received a $9,000 settlement, not I but I did receive a 1099-MISC for other Income for $9,000. Despite numerous attempts, they refuse to correct their error. The IRS does not have procedures they are able to give out in a matter of this nature, so now I have to hire a CPA who can aid me in filling my taxes. However, they did confirm this is the Attorney's Income not mine and I should not have received the 1099. I was told NOT to contact the creditor for a correction anymore. I had to file an IRS Form 3949-A reporting them for Tax Evasion, Unreported Income among others. I would rather be harassed by the creditor than to have to deal with an even bigger mess which is what I have now. read more

I contacted Jaffers to help me with a law suit filed against me by a credit card company. They charged me $2500 and I ended up doing most of the work. I had to constantly contact them about court dates and just to get information on what was going on with my suit. Endless calls and emails to them and no response and few answers. Ended up settling for more than the credit card company had originally offered. I would avoid this company at all costs. Highly disappointed! Waste of money! read more

DO NOT HIRE THIS LAWYER. They will do the absolute bare minimum for you, even if they have a successful turnout for your case. I hired them when I was sued by a debt collector, they explained literally nothing to me, they just told me what the turnout that we were hoping for would be and asked to me to sign a rule 11 agreement so they can pursue our desired outcome for the case. Then I never heard from them again. Ignoring all of my emails inquiring on the status of the case. I had to contact an acquaintance of mine that is a paralegal for advice, and she checked the county's database for my case. She was able to tell me the details of my case, that it had a successful turnout and that I had missed the first two payments to the debt collection agency per the outcome of the settlement making OUR ENTIRE CASE NULL AND VOID. The matter of what I witnessed is below being able to call this place a joke. if you do not understand law, procedures, or courts in general run. Terrible I would not use this company if you were in need of a lawyer. I was provided with a paralegal that was originally assigned and then went absent for a month. I was then contacted by a new paralegal who then provided me an email with settlement details. I agreed to an option they had provided and received an email in reply that those terms were not actually for my case. I was then given an $1800.00 more settlement in which I responded with a question and the option I would like for my settlement. To which I was then suggested a different settlement agreement then the one I had agreed to. Once the paralegal was able to reread the option that I had selected I was provided paperwork via email, including court documents that Jaffer provided that I needed to sign. I had to send the paperwork back as there were CLARICAL issues within the documents. I thought it was over at that point but as I continued to check my account with the company I had settled with, nothing had been updated. In fear that my paperwork was never sent and approaching my first payment date I contacted the company I owed, and they stated they were unable to speak with me without my Attorney authorization. I immediately called Jaffer and requested for them to provide the company approval. Now I wait a full week understanding that things take time..... But to no surprise the company I owed had not been provided the information. I am now 3 days from my first payment date and lost because no one from the Jaffer firm is available to speak to me and I would prefer to speak with someone who is above the paralegal who has continuously messed up on my case. I hired this law firm to represent me in a case in which I I was being sued by a creditor . This case dragged on for one year and I was given no updates in regards to the case . I was informed that I lost the case by email no phone call . I called to ask why the case was lost . I was given a very disrespected condescending account of the what happened . I ask wanted to ask about certain motions that were filed and I was hung up on . Phil Pool said, " we are no longer representing this case and you have a nice day ." He hung up the phone .
