Stunningly beautiful, sweet hosts, great story. It was so peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast was all local & homemade. Bed was super comfortable. Convenient for the bike trails with great inside scoop on the area. We will be back! Beyond the COVID era issues, I'd probably have given 3.5/4 stars. For the price, I wasn't that impressed ($310 for one night); however, nothing was outright bad. The property itself is gorgeous. We really enjoyed the trails and love that our Baby Dog could join us. This review is for the Queen/Presidential Suite and Garden Suite building. The biggest issue is that one of the staff wasn't wearing a mask and (more than once) got closer than 6 ft from us to talk into our faces. Given she works in a facility with random guests coming and going, she could easily become a superspreader especially given that guests aren't required to wear masks in public buildings. At least four other guests came into the lodge without masks and talked over the self-service breakfast bar. If we hadn't been the first people at breakfast, no way we'd have eaten from that Grim Reaper buffet. Yikes! Even a beautiful location with tasty food can't totally make up for the increase in risk for getting COVID/myocarditis from non-compliance with common sense infection prevention measures! The room was fine, and the bathroom was good. There was no bar soap to wash our hands, and there was only one coffee pod and no creamer or sugar. There was no sound privacy either. Through the wall, we could hear perfectly the people next to us. I know their dog's food schedule and their family dynamics now. Lulz. I think this sound issue would be a moot point in one of the cabins. We ordered a fruit platter, veggie platter, and a bottle of wine. All were fresh and tasty. read more

I came across this place after searching for dog friendly resorts. They allow all dogs regardless of breed or weight. We spent the weekend here as a family. The cottage was cute and cozy. Enough space for us. This place is also like a B&B they serve breakfast in the morning in the lodge. It was delicious. Homemade recipes. We fed their three llamas on-site. We walked the trails on the property and ventured into town. They also have disc golf courses. The owners are happy to make suggestions for restaurants or places to visit. At night we had a fire and made s'mores. Then laid out under the stars. It is so quiet out there. A perfect getaway from the cities. We can't wait to go back. Everyone was so friendly. read more

Dead Bat, cold showers and dangerous walkways I attended my Daughter's wedding and reception at Justin Trails Resort. When we arrived on the morning of the wedding we found our daughter trying to prepare without hot water in the cabin they rented, as part of their event package. The resort owners were aware that this was a continuing problem in this cabin, and yet rented it to the bride and groom. Next we saw the photographer (not associated/employed by Justin Trails Resort) and a guest doing their best to remove magazine and newspapers placed on the bare ground by the resort owners, in the wedding ceremony location, so that they wouldn't be in the wedding pictures. When the Day of Event coordinator (not associated/employed by Justin Trails Resort) was preparing the barn/reception area she discovered a dead bat on the floor. Next, when she turned on the large ceiling fans she discovered where the bats (and possibly birds?) roost. The reception area was showered with animal droppings. When we returned to our Daughter's cabin after the reception the dirt and weed walkway to the door was now mud. This caused the Mother of the Bride to slip and fall, barely missing the door frame with her head. This is a SAFETY HAZARD! This venue looks great on the surface but the owners need to pay more attention detail. They were not helpful or considerate towards the Bride and Groom, or the photographer and event coordinator. If you are looking for a stress free location for an event, look elsewhere. read more

We originally planned and made arrangements with the host to stay 5 nights because of our son's wedding was taking place at the resort. Before arriving we changed it to 2 nights since we decided to a camp with our 5th wheel closer to Ft. McCoy where our son is stationed. The venue is absolutely BEAUTIFUL, breath taking really. The host and family however left a bad taste. Our stay was not what we had hoped, and we will not return to this location. First, Donna, the host was not very welcoming or friendly when we arrived. Anytime we went into the giftshop, no one was around if we wanted to purchase anything. There were signs inside about prices for everything... Be prepared, they charge for everything, even independent (unguided) hikes on their trails. After the wedding Dawn, and I mean right after... like during the reception, the host's adult daughter approached our son, an NCO in the US Army, and asked if he were some kind of general or something due to all the ribbons and medals on his dress uniform. My son told her these medals and ribbons are earned in service, many were combat related. Her response was along the lines that she wanted to make sure she was giving him proper respect IF he were a general or something. We have family both enlisted and commissioned that made great sacrifices to serve our country. I don't know about you, but if you have served ... you deserve respect. If you've been deployed and risked your life... you deserve respect and gratitude. The host was not very accommodating to the day of even coordinator who was managing the ceremony location and the reception in the barn. Immediately after the wedding ceremony, WHILE PICTURES WERE BEING TAKEN, Donna started removing chairs. I was horrified that she even started removing chairs and décor while pictures were being taken. She didn't even give the coordinator a chance to get the guest settled in the barn and return to take care of this....THEN CHARGED my son and is bride over $250 for having to remove the chairs. This was only one of the additional charges. As the reception was ending, Donna asked my son if they wanted to park their Harley's (his and his bride each have one) in the barn to protect them from the storm cell that was approaching. I thought... "hmmm, this is very kind and thoughtful". She moved rubber mats inside the door to park each bike on. Meanwhile, no mention of fee or charges.... yup, there was a charge the next day for parking the bikes in the barn. They have cabins and rustic camping available. Most of the grounds are well taken care of but more attention around the cabins is needed. The entry walkway for the cabin my son and his bride stayed in had a very unsafe pathway. What looked like carpeting was put down over uneven ground and the vegetation was growing over the path. Unfortunately, my new daughter-in-law's mother fell, nearly hitting her head on the doorstep immediately after the wedding as we retreated to allow guest to vacate to allow for after wedding photos to be taken. There was a back patio on this particular cabin that we couldn't use due to the wasp and nest there. So here's the low-down, if you're staying for one night, the farm is beautiful. They have a large gravel parking area and pretty much allow you to park in any direction you desire. If you decide to enjoy the farm... they charge for everything. If you're looking for a venue to host an event like our son and his bride did. Get EVERYTHING in writing first, they were charged HUNDREDS of dollars in additional fees on top of the contracted agreed upon charges. read more

Our family was looking for a last minute place to stay for a long weekend vacation in WI during Covid. We found the Camping Cabin at Justin Trails and booked our stay. The cabin was simple but had everything we needed for two adults and three high school/college age kids. Donna made sure everything we needed was taken care of. The restrooms were outside in renovated barn--very close and very clean. Donna provides a wonderful breakfast each day made with produce from her garden and other local sources. It was a great way to start the day and chat with Donna and other guests about what do do for the day. There are miles of beautiful walking trails through the very hilly driftless region property -- over 200 acres I think. The trails and much of the grounds are well maintained for easy walking and running and disc golf for those who like that kind of thing. The lower level of the barn is air conditioned and setup with tables, couches, TV, Foosball for people who need a place to eat or hang out if the weather is bad. We also had a fire pit and free fire wood. Overall it was a great find. Thanks Donna for providing this nice family retreat. read more

Fan-freaking-tastic. This is a gorgeous, sprawling property owned by Don and Donna Justin. It's a B&B complete with adorable private cabins. It's a campground. There's an epic disc golf course. There's an OG yet beautifully re-done barn on the property. Justin Trails boasts some of the nicest staff ever. It's a little too perfect, really. They also have llamas named Dusty & Rusty on the property. One of them has the most comical underbite. Some good friends of mine held their wedding at Justin Trails this last weekend, and it was fantastic. The picturesque backdrop of the rolling hills, the gorgeous venue space that is the recently refurbished barn, the staff... everything was almost out of a fairytale. Folks can stay in the cabins, though there isn't enough lodging to accommodate everyone. Solution? For those folks who don't feel like heading back to Sparta's nearby Super 8 or Days Inn, you can camp on the property for a relatively nominal fee. It's pretty great if you're an outdoorsy type. Lots of our friends' guests camped the night of the wedding, while many others were shuttled back their respective, nearby Sparta hotels. We hotel-ed the first night, and camped the next two. It was great. Dan, the GM/grounds manager, is fantastic. If you're looking to get away/plan a barn wedding/camp/B&B in west/northwest Wisco, this is definitely a great place to do just that. read more

This place is awesome! My wife and I took our lab there for a 2 day break from the real world. The resort is very laidback and relaxing. Donna is very accommodating. The views are spectacular. The breakfasts were fulfilling. If you love being outdoors, this is the place for you. Two 18 hole disc golf courses spread through the 200+ acres of rolling forest was an awesome sight to walk through. We like to hike and the views from the top of the hills are rewarding. My wife and I booked five nights in the Little House on the Prairie for our honeymoon. We left after only one, as we were very disappointed with the cabin, especially when you consider the price. The tub cannot be filled enough before running out of hot water. We were kept up at night by the sound of mice and the uncomfortable bed. The gas fire place, although pretty, is nowhere near adequate to heat the tiny cabin. Finally, our room was not ready at our agreed upon arrival time. read more

I needed a vacation that wouldn't break the bank...and Justin Trails fit the bill perfectly. Its about a 4 hour drive from Chicago and is located in the "driftless" portion of the Wisconsin rolling hills, basically meaning the land wasn't flattened by glaciers. Justin Trails is a B&B located on what used to be a working farm. The setup is darling, and you can either get a room in the main house, reserve one of the cabins for more privacy or even camp at different locations on their 200 acre chunk of land. We chose the cabin and it had a great Whirlpool hot tub elevated in a loft setting. Justin Trails has two 18 hole professional disc golf courses. The smaller is about a 1 mile walk up and down those rolling hills, while "big boy" is about 3.1 miles and is so so difficult. We spent a lot of time searching for badly thrown discs. Every morning Don and Donna, the hosts, serve a homemade breakfast that consists of eggs, bacon, a fruit assortment and yogurt and Donna's homemade granola. It was a perfect start for a big day of hiking and chasing your discs through brush. Best part for us was Justin Trails is dog friendly, so we got to bring our little Karma to enjoy the nature and get out of the city for some much needed RR. I recommend for local getaways, a romantic weekend or just some time out of the city. read more

Wow. This place really hit the sweet spot for us. Great property, great setting, cool B&B's, cool vibe, the staff was nice and very accommodating. The breakfast was awesome. The owners were nice to talk to and hearing about the history of the farm was neat. We hiked the property with our dog and there was so much to see. A great experience. We were in town to hit the bike trails and this place turned out to be the highlight for us. The disc golf course looked VERY challenging. And fun! read more

We were delighted to have been able to stay here. We have stayed in many B&Bs across the country but this was by far the most comfortable and warm. The service was courteous and kind, and the cabin we stayed in really did feel like the Little House on the Prairie, which it is appropriately called. We enjoyed the long conversation over breakfast and the delicious meal that was prepared. The granola was the tastiest ever! We got to spend time looking around the barn and hanging out with their two white Siberian huskies. Well worth the money! read more

My fiancee, future mother in law and myself stopped by to check out the area as a potential venue for our wedding. We were stopped by the owners at the end of the drive way and she asked what our business was, we told her we didnt have an appointment but just wanted to drive through quick. The lady said she was leaving to buy apples. We tried to tell her something and she flung her hands up and walked off, got in her car and drove away. Rudest person i have ever met. My husband and I eloped here New Year's Day this year and it was absolutely perfect. We got married in and stayed in the Paul Bunyan cabin. It was great! Huge tub, comfy beds, and such a romantic space. The grounds are gorgeous too, the perfect spot for wedding pictures. Don and Donna, the owners, were our witnesses and they are the kindest people. Donna coordinated our wedding, took care of the flowers, and makes the BEST breakfasts!!! A very relaxing spot owned by great people! We will be back every year for sure! read more

We were looking for a place to relax at for a few days and were able to bring the dog along. This place was perfect, you could bring your pet into the main lodge during breakfast and meet other vacationers and their dogs. The breakfast was homemade and very delicious and Donna would make fresh coffee for you. The scenery was beautiful and our border collie could run off leash which was why we chose Justin Trails. The Queen suite we rented was clean and comfortable and anything else we needed they were able to help with. Talking to Donna about The history of the area and the resort was very interesting . There is a frisbee golf course on the property and looks very challenging but in the middle of winter we stuck to hiking Big Buck trail which was a challenge also but the view from the Rocks was worth it. We would like to return in the fall for the scenery and are recommending this resort to friends. read more

We had a wonderful time at the resort. Stayed in the Paul Bunyan cabin. Four of us Stayed there. It was well equipped and the owners Donna and her husband ,sorry can't remember his name, were very helpful but also created a layer back casual atmosphere. The trails are beautiful and the surrounding area is lovely too. 30 min from La Crosse. We went their for a day and went on a Mississippi boat tour. Eagles flying over head. So cool. We stumbled on this gem while driving cross-country with two big dogs. It's a wonderful farm just a few miles off the freeway - one of our requirements, because after a day of driving who needs to travel hours of back-roads. But not only is it convenient, it has acres and acres of space and your dogs can run to their hearts' content (if they behave). This was fantastic, as the dogs were pretty tired of hours of driving as well. We stayed in one of the smaller cabin, a great change after chain hotels, and enjoyed the whirlpool tub. The one drawback was that the cabin we were in didn't have a rangetop - just microwave, fridge and sink - but there is a gas grill there available to guests and we cooked our dinner on that. Breakfast was a delight, with homemade granola, fresh fruit, eggs, bacon, chocolate zucchini bread and muffins. Seriously, if you're traveling on I-90 and this fits your schedule, skip the usual hotels and stay here. read more

On a cross country trip, had reservations at their "PRESIDENTIAL SUITE". When we were shown this "suite" the owner attempted to show us the tv. THERE WAS AT LEAST 1/2 INCH OF DUST ON IT. There were also dirty fingerprints and lots of dirt around the room. A coffeemaker had been left dirty and dripping old coffee from a previous guest. The owner said oh I guess I forgot to clean it and never came back to do any cleaning. If you are concerned with a clean room, this place is to be avoided. Nasty attitude on the owner as well. At nearly $200 a night, would expect a clean , up to date room!! read more

Discovered this perfect place to get away from all the stressors of life. It was the coldest weekend in the Winter but we felt very welcome and comfortable because of the owners, Donna and Don. The cottage was exceptionally clean, a fire lit and there were so many little thoughtful gestures to make sure we had everything we would need. The bedding, towels, robes and every every area of the cottage was not only spotless but felt of a high quality. In 34 years of marriage we have traveled a lot and stayed at quite a few Bed and Breakfasts but we have never had a breakfast at a Bed and Breakfast OR restaurant that was as delicious as what Donna served on both days. It was homemade, unique and healthy and again it was in a lodge that was a wonderful experience with other couples who admired the atmosphere too. The best part is we were able to bring our dog and enjoy the trails. We forgot how frigid the weather was because this beautiful resort to get away is so warm and healing to people in need of a peaceful place and tender loving care. read more

This is a darling B&B. If you are looking to get away for some peace and quiet, this is the place. It is located on a large farm on a 200 acre organic property with llamas, disc golf, walking/running/hiking trails and beautiful gardens. Don and Donna are excellent hosts and are extremely informative on the area and surrounding cities. My mom and I stayed in a private cabin, "The Cottage", with a whirlpool, queen size bed, and a bunk bed (perfect for a small family of 4). A generous breakfast was served the next morning from 7-10, which included homemade granola made by Donna herself, yogurt, fresh fruit, coffee, juice, muffins, organic eggs, and premium bacon.
