First of all, amidst much debate with my in laws, apparently JYSK is pronounced 'YISK". It's a Danish franchise that seems to infiltrate cities & towns throughout Canada that don't have an Ikea. Why Orleans? Dunno? JYSK kinda screams IKEA-wannabe. Much of their inventory has a Northern European modern vibe: simple and splashy. Their IKEA cloned stock seems much cheaper and lesser in quality. I definitely enjoy shopping at IKEA with it's large selection, but there are times where the experience can be tad overwhelming. JYSK's varied offerings are presented in an open fashion. JYSK seemingly would be a great spot for students and starter homes. I particularly like their window treatment section (yes I watch HGTV). Probably cause I like their price points and colours. I have found the employees pleasant, though I have had my difficulties to tracking one down. The few times I have visited, it has been solely for non-furniture items. JYSK seems to tempt me with their random items that could help me with home organization. Lots of parking available, it's not a very busy big box mall.

$30 For a duvet cover and 2 pillow shams was a good deal.

So Yelp keeps prompting me to write a review of this place, so here goes. It's a HomeSense (which…read moremy American cousin says is called "HomeGoods" in the USA) so it's like the Winners/Marshalls/TJ Maxx of housewares. In other words, brand name stuff at discount prices. So needless to say, I love it. This particular location is physically connected to a Winners. They have separate entrances, but inside there is no separation. On the Winners side they have clothes, shoes and jewelery, stuff that HomeSense doesn't sell, then in transitions to items that both stores carry (Winners pretty much carries everything that HomeSense carries but just less selection). The checkout is the same for both stores. Selection is the same as other HomeSense stores. I don't find that there's anything too special about this location. It's in a strip mall so there's lots of free parking. Same strip mall as Michael's, Value Village, and the LCBO.

I find if you go on a Thursday/Friday, the place is pretty stocked in anticipation for the weekend rush, although it can get pretty busy here, so keep that in mind. Getting in to the store is pretty easy, but getting out may take a while. Just like other HomeSense/Winners locations, they have that long maze that you get trapped in to get to the cash full of last minute impulse buys like candy, chips, soaps and little knick knacks. Expect to wait a while, as there is always a line up here, regardless how many cashiers are working, there are just too many people all the time waiting to check out. I do enjoy the large baby/childrens section. I always have at least a couple baby showers to go to a year, and birthday parties to attend, that it can get pretty pricey. I always find cute, affordable gifts for friends here at half the price if compared to places like babies R us or buy buy baby. If you love HomeSense/Winners and can spend hours looking at all their neat items, this would be a gold mine for you!

Wow, I am not sure if I walked into a book store today, or an art gallery…read more I've driven buy this newly built Indigo over a dozen times, and I finally decided today was the day to check it out. One thing that I noticed when I entered the store is the smaller entrance way. It was a tad tight getting in with a stroller while people were trying to exit. Maybe there is another larger entrance that I did not notice? The store is super bright, and super clean, but kinda sterile. I usually visit Indigo to browse the latest home decor and sale items, so I was a bit thrown off that all their home decor and knick knacks are scattered across the store, but it was tastefully done and I get what they were doing there. For example: where the yoga books and fitness books were displayed, so were the yoga items and water bottles. Another example, the cookbooks were surrounded by kitchen tools and kitchen decor. It was nice to walk around this store and browse, but it was not bookstore vibes. I love grabbing books and browsing through them. I didn't find any chairs in sight besides going over to Starbucks, where I could get comfy and browse through some books. There is also an indigo kids, that looked bright, and fun, but I didn't venture too much into that department. This store is nice, but it's just OK in my books. I am a traditional kinda gal, and I really liked the old school "chapters" vibe of bookstores where they had tables and chairs all throughout the place, and it was more cozy. This is not the kinda of place to meet up with friends and work on projects at, unless you buy a coffee and do so at Starbucks.
