When I initially put my Painting Project out on Yelp, Mathew was 1 of the 1st to respond and though I originally had another company in mind, through continued diligent communication by Mathew, AFM ultimately earned my business. Mathew was SUPER communicative up until my job was confirmed and booked and then he kinda' disappeared on me a bit until the morning of my appointment, which though it had me slightly nervous along the way and pushed me to have a Plan B ready just in case, it ultimately just let me know that he is a man of his word, but not going to keep beating you over the head with communications in between time. As my pictures show, 1 part of my project was a mosaic-type piece in my Entryway Hallway and though Mat told me that he'd never done this type of design, he also said that he was confident that his team could get it done and do it well! I have to say that Francisco and his cohort who actually did the work did an OUTSTANDING job...I was and am quite pleased!! The small bedroom that I had done in addition was a layup from a 7-Footer in comparison and they did an outstanding job on that as well! =) After the crew left that night, I noticed a faint orange dusting on my carpet, which obviously wasn't there before, because my original walls weren't orange prior to the project. I reached out to let Mat know and he explained what he thought the issue might be and said that he'd come out by the following Wednesday (In 5 days) to take care of it, via a carpet shampooing or alternate method. Mat actually called the next day and said that he would be able to come and rectify the problem in an hour, if I was home and available (Which I was). He arrived in a timely manner and rubbed what appeared to be some kind of paint-thinning lacquer in the problem areas of the carpet and said that letting it sit about 2 hours and then vacuuming the treated areas should take care of the problem and it did to eyes less discerning than mine - SUCCESS!! Mathews original quote was the 2nd highest of the 5 quotes that I received, but when it was all said and done, it was well worth it. I never signed/accepted my original quote however and in gaining my business, Mathew told me that he'd probably be able to come down on the price a bit, but that was NOT the case in the end. No harm, no foul, as I have some culpability in that hiccup as well, for not confirming the final price before work started. With that being said; Though I absolutely recommend this company, I'd implore you to be clear on a price upfront!!

I wish I would have listened to the other review however I wanted to believe that it was just a one off because the review was from several years ago. Everything the previous reviewer said is true. This company was recommended to me by the water remediation company, Flood Masters, after I had a shower drain leak. I should have know when the Owner, Cyrus, showed up at my house in a damn suit to give me a quote. He quoted me 2x as much as my insurance company offered me. We later settled on a price and work began. Work was started on the January 18th, I was told work would be completed on January 22nd. Here it is, January 31st and the work was just now completed. There were several issues throughout the process. First day was fine, they came in and did demolition. The next work day, they installed my new 3-piece shower but leaving off the shower head and handle. The next work day, Cyrus himself came to paint and install me new light fixture. First red flag came when he claims he couldn't install my light centered to my mirror due to how the "builders" placed the hole...okay, I let that ride. Then I take a peek at the paint on the walls and it was a completely different color than I had indicated I had chosen. After sending him screenshots of our previous text messages about the paint, Cyrus agrees to purchase the correct paint and come back to paint it again. The next day he sends out "one of his guys" that was supposed to repaint my bathroom, re-install my toilet, and paint my dining room wall/ceiling from the drywall repair due to the leak. This person was at my house over 7 hours re-installing my toilet and repainting my bathroom the exact same wrong color again. When the man left I text Cyrus and asked him when was the work going to be comple and notified him that the wrong color was painted again. He acted as if he was totally surprised that the work wasn't complete. He agreed to come the next day to do it himself and get everything completed. The next day, he arrives bright and early and starts painting my dining room. After that was complete he moved to the bathroom. He repainted, re-installed my shower head and handle, and vacuumed up the mess/dust left behind. Also, due to the paint issue, he even repainted my baseboards white. I was thankful for that. However, to sight, the shower was ready for use but when I went to clean it, I could literally push in the shower wall and it would separate from the handle because it was not sealed/caulked. If I hadn't noticed this, I would have the same water damage all over again. I figured this out late that night so the next morning I notified Cyrus. He tells me that it's like that because of the type of shower installed compared to my old one...blah blah blah. By this time, I had already consulted a family Plumber to see what should be done. Cyrus made a suggestion and tried to make me feel like the only fix was not good for my pipes behind the shower wall but the family Plumber said otherwise. Cyrus said that he was out of town and actually wanted me to ask my family Plumber to do the job and charge him ...what? Uhmm No! So, the next day, Cyrus had the nerve to request final payment for a job not complete because I still couldn't use my shower. I quickly told him that we would not be paying anything more until my shower is functional. So then Cyrus said he will send out a Plumber to make sure our shower is safe and functioning without leaks. It turns out the real Plumbers had to re-open the wall to properly fix and seal the shower. After the work was fully complete, I paid my remaining balance but have yet to receive the "Workmanship Warranty" that I was told that I would receive. Honestly, it seems as if Cyrus just finds day laborers or cheap laborer, who are not licensed, to perform the work. I will never use this company again. I do not like how the owner does business.

After calling some contractors who do work for me, I received several recommendations for Lion Home Maintenance, and they highly recommended them as a painter. I called them and spoke with Devon Wright, the owner and job manager of the company. He is pleasant, likeable, and extremely professional in every aspect. After I explained what I was facing with our building (it houses and gymnasium and office/classrooms), he told me that while they were extremely busy, he would stop by and give me an estimate. When he arrived, I discovered he was knowledgeable about painting, its application and the necessity to get the appropriate product. Because I worked for several paint manufacturing companies when I was younger, I understood the need for both the application and the product to be correct. Devon was very upfront regarding the elevated price of paint, and I was very comfortable with his manner, knowledge and integrity. He called me a few days later with estimate--which was exceptionally competitive--and we set up a time for the job to be done. He arrived within the time promised, prepared the site for painting, and began to paint. Every single one of his men were as equally professional, kind, and polite as Devon--they were a joy to be around during the whole process. I cannot possibly rate Lion Home Maintenance highly enough! The professionalism of Devon, his crew, and the knowledge he brought, allows me to rate Lion Home Maintenance with the highest rating possible. I will use them again in the future for both the church and my personal needs. Devon and his men are simply great guys!
