What a nightmare! We hired Gonzalez Painting to paint the exterior of our home. The attention to detail was horrible. They have returned twice to correct the mistakes and there are still many issues that need to be resolved. There is no plan to return according to Jose. The supervisor, Francisco, came to take a look and actually said and I quote "It doesn't look bad from the street!" The caulking was atrocious. They did not remove the old warn out caulking, they simply caulked over it. Jose actually told me that none of his competitors removed old caulking. I beg to differ, as my neighbors are having their home painted also, and guess what? They removed the old caulking! In addition the crew they sent to our house has difficulty painting a straight line. There were also drips of paint around the house. No tarps were used to prevent drips. Requested an estimate and they came in a timely fashion. After that they fell apart. Crew #1 showed up and never started. Crew#2 showed up and left, never started. Office texted me and apologized and was sending another crew with the proper equipment on the third try, I fired them before it went any further.. Super disappointed and frustrated! I agreed for a certain service (paint trim front of home) which is written clearly on the contract. The guy showed up and told me that porch is excluded which has never been communicated to me. Then I called the company and they asked for $890 extra for the porch. The advertised prices are all hoax, and they don't reflect the reality. They are playing games with words to charge extra money on the change orders in the last moment. I'm so disappointed with this business. Do not do business with this company. They created a quote for me for a price with one coat. When I questioned if one coat would do the job, the estimator (who came to the house and created the quote on site) and customer service representative assured me one coat of their selected brand of paint (which they charged me double for vs my requested paint) would work. I took off work to meet with the painting crew. When the painting crew got to the job, they refused to do the work, stating one coat would not work, and left. The office then refused to honor their quote and said the price would double for 2 coats. We needed the rear of our house and ceil of our screen porch painted. They taped off the inside of the porch as we just had that stained and didn't wish to do it again. They did not get any over spray which we were expecting. Gonzalez Painting came as a referal, which we are glad we used. We had used other painters before with mixed result. Gonzalez Painting For the past few years I have been dealing with necessities for the home. Everything from flood damage which required a one year renovation for a kitchen and a bathroom and people installing ceiling fans, shutters and other necessary repairs. I was not happy. It was like something out of going over to the Dark Side of renovations.  For one year I had to deal with insurance companies, Project Managers, tile people, counter people, cabinet people, painters, restoration experts and others. I was not happy. Over the course of this going on I was seeking opinions from others regarding Handymen, Carpenters, Painters and Decorators. I thought I was reliving the life of Tom Hanks in the movie The Money Pit.  In one instance a handyman who was installing ceiling fans told me he was also a plumber so I had him install new faucets in the bathroom. When I returned from the store he was gone, the faucets were put in backwards and he left a disaster in the bathroom. Remember that saying; "Someday you will look back on this and laugh." It's 5 years later and I still am not laughing. Let's face it, in today's world of Shysters, Crooks, Grifters and Cons people are getting ripped off. Senior Citizens have become a "Target Rich Environment" for every scam out there. For every honest person, man or woman, trying to make a living in the contracting business there are three others looking to reel in the biggest fish they can find. They scour the countryside like Vultures looking for roadkill.  When I was getting ready to paint the house that required some extensive replacement of the siding I can't tell you how many people came here to give me a quote. My first question; Are you Insured and Bonded. Three out of five said NO. If someone falls off your roof and gets killed you could be held responsible. Second Question; Will you have someone on the job who will be able to communicate with me? Third Question: Will I get a warranty after the job is done? Fourth Question: Will I need to pay up front or pay after the job is completed TO MY SATISFACTION? Fifth Question: Give me a walk through of the process? Sixth and probably the most important; How much is this going to cost me and I don't like surprises. It took me one year to find someone who could answer ALL those questions. In addition I would get people coming here giving me a price to replace the siding that was almost as much to paint and side the entire house. One guy gave me a price and said; "Oh, by the way, we can replace the siding but that $5000 bid doesn't include repainting." Gonzalez Painting came in, gave me a bid, and not only did they paint the entire house they replaced the siding. I am not a Micromanager. I expect people to do the job they are being paid for. My friend had a sign in his shop many years ago; "I charge $20.00 an hour to work on your car, I charge $50.00 an hour if you want to watch." At the end of each day do a walk around. They did more than expected. EVERY exposed nailhead was replaced and covered with bonding. Each seam was injected with bonding. All siding that needed to be replaced was primed and painted. All the trim was painted. All windows were painted including the garage door. I provided water and cokes for the crew and they couldn't have appreciated it more. They were professional, they were courteous even to the point of removing their shoes before they entered the house for any reason. There was only one minor addition but they gave me the cost before I committed to adding it to the contract. They provided a three year warranty and the house looks like the day they built it on the outside. I am former military. I lost my wife to Cancer back in 2018 and I don't suffer fools lightly. There are just far too many people being exploited by predator companies and people out there. NEVER PAY ANYONE UP FRONT for a service until the job is complete. If they ask for money up front they shouldn't be in business in the first place. I had someone do some work here a few years ago. He told me he needed help loading materials onto his truck that would be used on the house and asked me if I could go to Lowes and help him load the material. I drove over to Lowes, helped to load up his truck and when he billed me there was an added charge of $85.00. I asked him what the $85.00 was for and he said: "Well, that is what Lowes charges for the delivery." This is the kind of screwball nonsense that goes on with some of these contractors. Another time I had a guy install granite counters in the kitchen. He brought in one side of the kitchen and I asked; "Hey, can you tell me where the other counter is?" His response; "Well, the insurance company was only paying for one counter." I said: "Excuse me, but are you very observant? That counter doesn't match the other counter." Terrible, would not recommend. Was referred to these painters by my Realtor. Not only has she taken them off her list, but she has recommended her entire agency do the same. Absolutely terrible communication. Needed to have my girlfriend present or on the phone to translate as the workers did not speak English well enough to understand me. Did not show up for the first appointment despite me closing my business down for the day so I could be there. No call of any kind. A three day job ended up taking 15 days. Had to reschedule pictures and open house at a substantial cost due to their delays. Never once received a call or text about when they were coming or not. I know they could reach me because I received texts from them about billing and estimate issues. They stopped returning my calls and my Realtor's calls entirely. Forgot to complete items on the estimate, like staining the entire front deck. They had to come back to complete these items, adding to the completion time. When they prepped the outside of my house they left my screens on the roof for nearly a week and a few blew away. When they moved lights on my deck, they just tore them out, breaking electrical cables. When they showed up unannounced to complete the job and I was not available to do an inspection, they refused to leave. When I called management I was told they would not leave until I did the inspection and I would have to pay late fees if I didn't do the inspection that day. As you might imagine, I really lost it at this point as they had already cost me and my Realtor nearly $2000 in lost income and photographer rescheduling. I got them to reschedule to the next day after I told them they can take me to court over the late fees if they want, but I won't be paying them. I was a first time customer with Gonzalez Painting. My job was a complete exterior & interior paint job. My total frustration is hard to express. They sent an employee on the first day to start the job and spoke no English. He had the contracts and was clueless as to what needed to be filled out on them and could not communicate it to me. Finally got a crew lead who spoke som English but communicated is a huge problem. The overall paint job was o.k. but their attention to detail is awful. Exterior repairs were fixed with a 1/2 case of caulk or so they thought. I found the unacceptable repairs and they got to do them over. Clean up was also unacceptable. Painters kept push for payment time & time again. All they want is to get paid. The job was not finished so no payment was made. I WISH that I had researched this company more before agreeing to let them paint the outside of my house. They are a bait and switch company...the sales rep up'd the quote so that it would seem as though I was getting a deal when they gave me a "discount". The sales rep/owner never came back to check the work done by a 2 person crew who don't speak English which made it difficult to communicate when errors or overlooks were being made. I had to have them come back on 2 separate occasions to fix broken covers, paint missed trimming, clean off paint that was spilled over and outside of the paint lines. If you decide to use them I would caution you to take pictures of your home before they start and that you check off all items as they work. The painting does not look like professionals completed the job. Also check the paint before they get too far into the job to be sure that you agree with the choice because they seem to have an affinity for satin paint instead of flat which looks better on the newer homes. Although they did fix these issues, the sales rep NEVER returned to my home to see what the issues were nor did anyone call me to ask if I was satisfied nor to thank me for my business. I had gotten 3 other estimates and although Gonzalez was not the lowest, I got the most detailed and comprehensive evaluation from them. The crew arrived on schedule every day and worked late until they achieved their goal for the day. They finished the project on schedule and did an excellent job. Part of the paint job was to replace some rotten wood and they did such a good job it was almost impossible to see the repair. They used the best paint for the job and it shows. I don't know where to begin! We had the inside of our house painted and it is horrible. Not only the painting but the clean up was miserable. Paint on my white carpet, scratches and paint on my hardwood. Paint everywhere! No nail holes, nail pops or caulking done. Half of the trim was painted. I made an appointment with Gonzalez Painting for an estimate on 6/20/18. My appointment time was from 12-1. At 1:15PM I called Gonzalez Painting to see when their estimator would arrive. Not to my surprise, the estimator ran into car trouble and was unable to make the meeting. This would have been understandable if they called to let me know, but they made me wait around. Anyway, they said they can come around 3pm which was inconvenient for me. I gave them the lockbox code to proceed with the estimate without my presence. This was on Thursday. Fast forward to Monday (today), I hadn't received my quote yet and I need to schedule painters immediately. I called up Gonzalez Painting and asked about my quote. They put me on hold for over 20 mins. They kept transferring me to different people. Finally after calling them 5 times, I finally got to talk to Leslie. I told Leslie about my frustrations and she informed me she would have estimate sent over in 15 mins. ONE HOUR later, I finally get this estimate....and it's not like they advertised. They advertised 1k for exterior or small house, they quoted me 2300. My house is only 1300 sq ft so I'm already furious I wasted all this time. They also advertise they will beat/match any written quote. So I gave them what other painters quoted me, (about 3k less) and of course...they couldn't match that either. In total, I wasted 4 weeks from the day I called Gonzalez painting to schedule an estimate. Their staff are unorganized and the customer service was awful . I would stay clear. Got this company from a flyer and they were rated by BBB as A+, well it was a nightmare. They subcontracted to a joke if a carpenter/painter. I actually stopped work twice and was asked by Gonzalez to let him finish. Here is what went wrong- Never finished anything, would spot work. Would start at 11:00 to 12 noon and work till 8:00 pm. Destroyed more items than repaired. Continually lied, since I could not walk and inspect work. Took a side job at the same time. Purchased 6 gallons if paint, contract called for 13 gallons. Had enough after 9 days and forced a change. They sent another crew to correct and finish, they were good and finished in a couple of days. Here is the problem, items were not replaced per the original contract, I asked for wood replacement and no bondo. House was so beat up hardy plank was broken and not all replaced. The first guy cut cable, cut off gas, blew out window screens and broke personal belongings by stacking ladders on top. Gonzalez would not pay for to make things right. They offered a 3% credit card fee discount. Never got a sense of urgency, until I submitted a formal complaint to the Better Business Bureau. read more

Gonzalez did an excellent job with the exterior painting of my home. Their prices were reasonable and they were very professional.

I hired this company to paint my house in July of 2020. Less than 2 weeks after job was completed The paint started to peel. It took 3 months for someone to come out and look at the problem areas. In addition they did not pressure was the entire house during the initial painting. They did very little caulking. The paint has continued to peel. I have called several times over the past 7 months for them to address the peeling issues. I have spoken to Leslie, Ashley ,Jimmy,Nate and countless others. Some of these people no longer work for the company. Each time I call I am told a manager will return my call and to send pictures. The one time I spoke with Evelyn, the general manager,in October of 2020 after the painter Luis Portillo came if to touch a few areas, and the paint continued to peel. She said she needed mire pictures. The painter behaved as though he were upset that I had complained. They guaranteed the paint job for 3 years. It didn't last for 6 months. I would not reccomend this company to my worst enemy. I called as recently as one month ago and was told by an employee that refused to give her name that Evelyn would call me back. I have been forced to file a complaint with the BBB.Rgey also cracked one of my windows. Wish I would have read the reviews before using. DO NOT USE THEM. They tell you what you want to hear knowing they blatantly will not do what they agreed. They send employees who do not speak good English nor understand direction. First day was prep, well they quickly came in to paint and prepped nothing. Yes, they put paper on the floor, plastic then they did not work the 2nd day, came back the third day pulled up all covers from the flooring and furnishing and begin painting, rushing to get out. UNPROFESSIONAL these painters came in playing the music like they at the club, talking on the phone all day, running in and out of the house like it is there's and ALL OVER THE PLACE. THEY LEFT THEIR TRASH IN THE FRONT and BACK YARD under the porch, no kids and barely go sit on the porch but they did, and they left their trash and dumped their food in the yard. Left paint on the deck including their footprints of paint and the paint drippings did not clean up any of it including paint being in my grass. No respect for your property at all nor your personal belongings, I have incurred damages to my cabinet in the kitchen a piece is missing that was not prior to. Paint all over the floor, furnishings, and pillows and dining room chair where they were not even painting. Paint drippings down the wall, under the steps was painted two separate colors, and anything down low they will not paint. The doors they paint the front, yet not the sides so when you open the door you see a different color. I wrote many complaints to the company during the process even asked for a foreman to come who could convey what their workers did not understand. They lied and said the Foreman was there and the employees stated they were not the foreman. They would not send a different group to finish, so got to the deal with the angry painters who made it worse. They did not caulk as they promised, missed many areas including the ceilings, and what they did was not professional and very sloppy. Three thousand dollars for a job I would have done ten times better. PLEASE BEWARE AS THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL, THE WORK DELIVERED IS NOT A PROFESSIONAL a kid would do better as they left paint everywhere i.e., light fixtures, furnisher, drippings down the wall and we won't talk about the areas they still missed, while they spoke very loudly in SPANISH because they were upset they had to come back, and still did not correct the issues as more issues became noticeable, like two colors on one wall that should have been the same color, but when you on the phone the majority of the time using one hand, I can see where it would be hard to focus. I refused to say the work was satisfactory as it was not. The pictures are from when they came back the second time. You would think they would have a backup crew to come clean the mess up. No, they want you to continue to deal with the painters who did not care about the detail and doing it right. Yet, the workers are hustling you on the side to lowball the company for the other quotes you received. Best believe if you couldn't do the job with the business definitely will not be using use for the other jobs. You best believe my complaints are not done I will expose this company and unethical practices in how they do not deliver the job promised. Hired Gonzalez painting in 2018 to paint my house. Pricing was good and the speed of work was good. I was even pleased with the quality of the work. The older guy who sprayed the house had skill. He was fast and good. Great attitude. The bad? On site care. The prep crew trashed my property and left it a mess everyday. Gatorade bottles on the ground, tools thrown everywhere, painters tape in the bushes and trees. They had no sense of "clean as you go" or cleaning up at the end of the day. I told them about it and then they started putting all of their crap into one corner of my yard at the end of the day. But what I didn't like? They put their dirty rusty tools and other painting items on my glass yard table! Who does that? My yard furniture isn't your storage table. Wow. The other issue: AFTER THE JOB CUSTOMER SERVICE - Terrible So it's 2 years after the job. I took a motion light off of my house and of course it wasn't removed during the paint job so under the light had the old color. No worries. I'll touch it up myself. I call Gonzalez Painting to get the color code for the paint we used. They don't have me in the system as a customer! They can't find ANY of the paperwork. Claimed they changed some systems and are still arranging records etc. Blah blah blah. So I have to go on a research to find my receipt, estimate and date of payment. I found all of this and provided it to them via email. Sent over PDF copies of it all. Then they claimed to find some records of the job. Sure. But they cannot locate the paint code as the crew didn't save it or enter it on the paperwork. I'm pissed. I scroll photos in my phone and LUCKILY I had a photo of one of the paint cans and could see the paint code on the top. Whew. I saved myself......no thanks to them. Went to Sherman Williams and got a gallon of the paint I needed and took care of my touch up issue. Next issue was that I wanted a couple of the "hardi planks" that they replaced to the side of my house "re-nailed" and they have come loose. A couple of these boards weren't nailed properly and are hanging down on one side. I don't want to nail them myself as I don't want to damage them or mess up the paint. Plus Gonzalez had a warranty so I'm going to USE the warranty. Well good luck with that. I've called them at least 10 times trying to get "warranty service" to re-nail these boards. It's literally a 5 min job for a tech that knows what he's doing and they keep blowing me off. First I'm told "we will check which crews we have in your area and call you back to set up and day to have them come by." I never got that call. I call over and over to speak with managers: Gina and Juanita. They apologize for the lack of follow through and promise they will get this situation taken care of. Then.....they don't. I've sent photos of the loose boards that they asked for. No call back. I call and leave messages.....no call back. This issue started back in February/March 2020 and it's not June 26 2020. I still haven't gotten a call or repair service. What make me feel even more like an idiot? I referred a friend to them. I did tell them about the yard clean up stuff and told him to stay on them about it.....but the paint work was good. He hired them. I was supposed to get $100 referral check from Gonzalez Painting......do you think I ever saw that money? Nope. It's pitiful that this company has decided to just ignore me "after the job" and that's a shame. I paid over $5000 for a paint job. It was good. The on site care and daily clean up was poor. The customer service, follow through and warranty service is non existent. The referral bonus check? Yeah right. *My photos are taken from after they are gone for the day. Beware. read more
