AFM started out with a "6" rating and if I was allowed to add a decimal point probably would have been rated higher, but as such, a "4" it is. When I initially put my Painting Project out on Yelp, Mathew was 1 of the 1st to respond and though I originally had another company in mind, through continued diligent communication by Mathew, AFM ultimately earned my business. Mathew was SUPER communicative up until my job was confirmed and booked and then he kinda' disappeared on me a bit until the morning of my appointment, which though it had me slightly nervous along the way and pushed me to have a Plan B ready just in case, it ultimately just let me know that he is a man of his word, but not going to keep beating you over the head with communications in between time. As my pictures show, 1 part of my project was a mosaic-type piece in my Entryway Hallway and though Mat told me that he'd never done this type of design, he also said that he was confident that his team could get it done and do it well! I have to say that Francisco and his cohort who actually did the work did an OUTSTANDING job...I was and am quite pleased!! The small bedroom that I had done in addition was a layup from a 7-Footer in comparison and they did an outstanding job on that as well! =) After the crew left that night, I noticed a faint orange dusting on my carpet, which obviously wasn't there before, because my original walls weren't orange prior to the project. I reached out to let Mat know and he explained what he thought the issue might be and said that he'd come out by the following Wednesday (In 5 days) to take care of it, via a carpet shampooing or alternate method. Mat actually called the next day and said that he would be able to come and rectify the problem in an hour, if I was home and available (Which I was). He arrived in a timely manner and rubbed what appeared to be some kind of paint-thinning lacquer in the problem areas of the carpet and said that letting it sit about 2 hours and then vacuuming the treated areas should take care of the problem and it did to eyes less discerning than mine - SUCCESS!! Mathews original quote was the 2nd highest of the 5 quotes that I received, but when it was all said and done, it was well worth it. I never signed/accepted my original quote however and in gaining my business, Mathew told me that he'd probably be able to come down on the price a bit, but that was NOT the case in the end. No harm, no foul, as I have some culpability in that hiccup as well, for not confirming the final price before work started. With that being said; Though I absolutely recommend this company, I'd implore you to be clear on a price upfront!! read more

After speaking with other contractors whom either quoted me a price that was way to high or never showed, I hired Matthew to fix a bedroom wall that had buckled and cracked due to a previous leak. Mathew and his team were GREAT to work with. I got a quote from about 2 years ago and although my time frame had changed, Mathew still kept in touch which I appreciated. When the time came to paint, it was short notice and Matt and team were ready. Quote was not honored. Workers were nice but did not put up plastic and they got sawdust everywhere. They also shorted my AC when they removed the AC panel bc they didn't turn the power off to it first. They brought drywall to the project before measuring it and it was the wrong size so there are gaps that had to be filled with caulk. They also had lopsided holes cut out for the switch panels. Owner tried to make good on some of the issues so I give them 3 stars for trying. read more

Our 1200sqft condo needed a move-in makeover very badly. Knowing that AFM does a lot of prep work, instead of just simply painting, is what made me choose them. Maybe that reflects in the price and of course your budget. They make it very easy and quick. The whole team was very fast working! My place was suppose to be easy due to the size. However, my walls needed 3 coats of paint instead of the normal two coats. I want to say this is due to the paint not drying between coats. ...I've only usually painted 4 walls at a time, so, what do I know?... This led to Mathew needing to come back the next day to do touch ups. This made me very happy knowing that he cares and the job is done right. I enjoy the fact that I get to keep the paint too because accidents happen and moving in can scuff. Mathew and his team delivered big time. They painted more than 4,000 sq ft of my home--a total of six colors (but it doesn't look tacky lol)--in just a few days. The team was professional, and the work was good. One special call out is that Mathew called out a leak in our roof simply from looking at the ceiling that prior owners supposedly had fixed since the inspection. When I shared the previous owners' claim with him, he pushed back on me, suggesting that it was more recent. I brought a few roofers out, and Mathew was right. Afm Painting did an excellent job with my popcorn ceiling removal project. They completed the job in record time (3 days for a 1600sq ft house). This is a pretty dusty job but they prepped everything really well, protected all surfaces, and cleaned up at the end so well I could hardly see any dust anywhere. Not only that, but the owner was in constsnt communication, making sure I knew when the crew was coming and leaving, checking to see if everything was to my satisfaction, and having the crew come back for a minor repair after the job was done and paid for. They were very good and the most reasonable out of everyone who we hired. The only reason for the four stars vs 5 is that there was an issue with the paint which they resolved within 24 hours. The paint didn't cover on two coats for the ceiling as initially anticipated, and the third coat costed us extra (the cost of the paint). They also had to add another coat on other parts of the house which was a slight inconvenience but glad they took care of it. It was a big job that they completed within 3 days & wanted to make sure we were satisfied which we were. Overall I'm happy with the job they did and would hire them again in the future. read more

Wanted so badly to leave 5 stars. Initially Mat came out, gave a great plan on what he and his crew would do (was very detailed and covered more than my expectations). Started with a lot of rain delays, but finally they got started. When they showed up and worked, quality was excellent. My project was more than painting, needed a lot of siding and trim replacement work. Price was fair for the extra work and it was paid as it was completed. However, it was a lot of prep work which took more time than I think they expected. As the work progressed, I had to call or text frequently for arrival dates. Promised days would come an go and there was always an excuse why they didn't show or I was not notified. I would take personal time to ensure I was home when they were expected. Had to call them out several times when they thought they were done to point out areas that still needed work to complete to the promised result. Clean up is not one of their best qualities. As I mention, had a lot of siding work done, however even when I reminded them about picking up nails, found handfuls which I had to pickup after each visit and paint splashes left on my driveway, AC unit, roof and side walks which are still there. Matt promised he would come out personally, but its now two weeks later and he has not come out or called. I do recommend his company, however make a detailed list upfront and have that loaded up into his quote before accepting. Then hold him and his crew to it. read more
