I saw that the concrete cap was leaking fluids which is obviously not what should be happening. The very next morning I called the first septic service company on my list which was Alpha Septic. I spoke with Nathan and he said he could be at my home within a few hours. He showed up as he said he would, and within 24 hours of my call, It was back to normal with a new pump, a replaced cracked pvc pipe, and a complete pump out of my septic tank. This is a family run professional company. Nathan and Justin are prompt, professional, and reasonably priced. There is no reason for me to use anyone else for septic issues. We have used him for 10 years here at the lake…read more He first checks to see if the Septic needs to be pumped if not just gives a receipt that shows was checked and not needed for Franklin County. If it needs to be pumped he will make sure that there is nothing left in the tank and everything is back as it should be. It takes awhile to get an appointment but well worth the wait....

I did this, and received a call within 30 minutes (from Danville). The scheduler said no one could come out that night, but the plumber would be out between 9 and 11 the next morning. As I had already shut off the water inlets and outlets, bled the pressure, and the pipe was no longer spraying water, this seemed reasonable. At 8:40 the next morning, I received a call from Danville again, telling me that their plumber was off on Sundays, so the soonest they could get out was Monday after 5 PM. I was expecting and prepared to pay after hours / Holiday weekend rates for emergency service when I needed it. I didn't get that. Do not advertise "24/7" service if you aren't able to offer anything even close to that. I did call the Blacksburg office (the number listed in this page) to confirm that they had no availability for today. Not impressed. I'll wait for my regular guy if I'm waiting.
