From our very first conversation with Jim in late summer 2024, we knew this was the perfect place for us. He was warm, prompt, and genuinely invested in helping us create something meaningful. He even invited us to visit at the end of wedding season so we could explore the property, take photos, and choose our perfect ceremony spot. Their packages are flexible, the setting is stunning, and Jim and Margaret were incredibly accommodating -- from letting my kiddo walk me down the aisle to helping with me ensure my wedding music. They were great. We're laid-back people who wanted something simple yet meaningful, and Jim completely "got us." We chose to exchange letters privately before the ceremony, leaving him to craft the words -- and he absolutely nailed it. His ceremony was heartfelt, emotional, full of laughter and love, and so us. Every guest commented on how touching and personal it was. A small but unforgettable detail -- I've always loved birch trees, and I fell in love with the big birch on their property during our visit. Park your car and follow a short trail that leads you to a deck. Climb up the stairs to the top deck and on the top deck you should be able to spot Mackinac Bridge on one side and see Lake Superior on the other side. The deck itself unfortunately isn't too big though, so if there are other people there, you kinda have to wait for your turn, which was what we experienced today when we were there. Also too bad the sky was overcast and cloudy when we were there, so we regrettably couldn't really see Mackinac Bridge very well. But it was still a nice little rest area after one hour of driving.

The rooms are very standard but clean and comfy, and the private beach is awesome- complete with a fire pit and a view of the bridge. The "continental breakfast" is pretty much non-existent, so don't count on that. The owners are lovely, although they only live there seasonally so it can be tricky to make a reservation early! Don't expect to be able to reserve a room before April at the earliest, and usually more like May.
