Zero stars should be an option. Horrible customer service. Unable to resolve any issues what so ever, but they will tell you that the problem is fixed when it is not. Literally can not re-enroll because of a computer glitch on their end that NO ONE can fix. I gave them over a month to resolve the issue and they have not come even close. We have used K12 for 9 years now and have experienced the public Virginia Virtual Academy and the Private iCademy. We have thoroughly enjoyed both VAVA and the iCademy. Teachers are always there to help and support. Administrators and office personnel are helpful and respectful. Both VAVA and iCademy truly care for their students and provide extra support and fun activities to make learning fun. The curriculum is advanced and really helps students prepare for their future. The K12 clubs are great for additional fun enrichment activities. We have enjoyed many different clubs from art to coding to drama clubs. We also enjoy outings where we get to meet teachers and other students and fun trips. I am very thankful for K12 and feel confident as a parent that I have been able to truly provide my children with the best education to give them a bright future. Thank you K12! read more

I have never had such a horrible experience with an educational institution before. No one seems to know what they are doing. I tried to enroll my daughter into the Florida online K12 program and always got a complete run around. Before I applied I called to see if she would be eligible being that she is living with my mom temporarily and I am not located at the same address as them. They told me that it would not be a problem and I would just have to fill out some extra residency forms. I went ahead and applied and submitted everything that was requested. I was then assigned to an admissions coach who would personally oversee my application. She was wonderful (her name was Christina). She had scheduled a call with me on the deadline date. I never heard from her. I called, and was told that she no longer works here. First deadline was missed. It all went downhill from there. I was assigned a second person. Never heard back from her either. And did I mention, no one has a telephone extension so you can never call anyone. You're at the mercy of whoever answers the phone. And trust me, they only know what they can pull up on the computer. They can't give you any more information than what they see on the screen in front of them. I would walk around all day with my phone in my pocket to make sure I never missed a call. But they just set up appointments and you never hear back from them. The residency issue continued for a whole month. I was constantly asked to send "proof" of residency and was told that the problem was that I was her guardian and my name was not on any of the residency documents. The same issue I discussed with them from the very beginning! And every time I called I had to explain the same thing over and over even though all required paperwork was submitted. After having 3 admissions coaches and five people who answered when I called I was done! I closed my eyes, opened my wallet and paid for an online private school. And guess what?... K12 is HORRIBLE. They cannot handle or have resources for children with special needs . They grade on progress not testing . Then when you need help there is absolutely nobody there to help you . UNTIL it's too warn you or put you on the chopping block . The board of education really needs to review this schools whole educational system . They have accused my son multiple times of plagiarism, i will not say he wasn't guilty the first or maybe the second but i got an email today ( i had to go in and change that 3 times this year because i wasn't getting any emails) saying he copied another students work 100%. The problem i have with this is he doesn't have access to any of the other students work and they don't allow students to give out any personal info about themselves including emails so he had no way to copy another. I contacted the teacher and was told that the program they use picks up all similarities and that they advise the students not use more that 4 or 5 words from their informational articles. So you have hundreds of kids doing the same questions from the same articles but they expect nothing to match up. This is just the latest bull from the school. It sometimes takes teachers days to respond to emails, and that's if their system will send you emails, they will let your student get really far behind or their grades drop and never contact you. The web site itself is a nightmare to navigate for a novice. I'd never recommend it unless you plan on watching over your kids shoulder ALL day. read more

OMG... I hope K12 Administration is reading these reviews here and other websites, or at least putting as much time in them as they do stressing their students and LCs. I have many issues with our school in AL but this review is directed to the entire organization because so far I have not read one good review! Sad.. It seems to me the entire association is a catastrophe waiting to happen. I enrolled my daughter last fall and every since it has been nothing but stress, stress and more stress. From the enrollment to courses is just a huge rush. For any newbies "Don't get a little behind." If the tons of assignments, quizzes, tests and class connects isn't enough you have to almost be harassed by emails, calls, extra connects and if not in 100% compliance, threatened with withdrawal. I am really discouraged at the amount of work that is given. My daughter is in the 7th grade and is doing more advanced work than I did in Graduate school. The grading criteria is extremely hard for a 7th grader. Everything is turned in to turnit.com even assignments, slide shows, etc. I mean come on these are kids give them a break! 7th grade courses should definitely be at a 7th grade level not 12th grade or College. I hate to see her so drained at such an early age. This will be my daughter's last quarter attending. Hopefully, our transition out will be much smoother than some of the reviews I have read. read more

ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE! I wish I read these reviews before wasting my time. I'm a very patient person, I don't complain a lot, but my recent experience with K12 has me more frustrated than I have ever been with any school I have attended, and I haven't even gone there yet! I'm 17 and about to be a senior in high school. I decided to switch to K12 because my mother has cancer and I felt like I needed to be home more often (before I attended a school an hour away). I started the enrollment process early July, but had to wait to finish enrollment because I didn't have my transcript. End of August, I finally get a copy of my transcript after complications with my other school and send it in. DENY. DENY. DENY. Without any explanation they repeatedly deny my transcript and I/my mom wasted hours on hold calling back after one suggestion on how to fix this wouldn't work. Then after probably the 9th call they tell my mom that they don't accept multiple documents because whoever reviews the documents only looks at the one in front of their face (their actual words), even though there's an option to submit multiple documents and was told by a rep to do so. Finally I send it in and it gets approved. I think everything is good and I can finally breathe... WRONG! They call later to tell my mom that I'm WAITLISTED. So many calls going back and forth with so many different people in less than 24 hours and no one mentioned that the class was full and I was going to be waitlisted. I ran around trying to sort the transcript out with my old school and sat on hold trying to fix an issue that was really from their end FOR NO REASON. I went on the online chat (pretending to be my mom since they can't speak to me since I'm a minor) asking what I should do since the school in my district started in less than a week, and I was without a school. They advised me to attend the school in my district, but I told them I wasn't enrolled in that school because one of their enrollment requirements is to submit a withdrawal from my "main" school. I didn't get a response and after waiting 12ish minutes, the representative DISCONNECTED the chat and then BLOCKED me from entering the chat room again. The chat button which opens the chat browser was greyed out. I refreshed the page, I went on incognito mode, I exed out the browser, I even restarted my compute because I was in such disbelief that a rep would do that. Sure enough the chat button was still grey and unclickable. After that, I woke up the next day, (RE)enrolled myself in my home district's school and withdrew my application because there was no way I was going to that school anymore, waitlist or not. Also if you're a minor trying to do the enrollment process on your own, good luck. One of the most frustrating things is that they won't even speak to you if you're under 18 even if your question is just general and contains nothing personal/confidential. My mom was on the phone with them and then I asked them a question about the upcoming deadline and they told me they cannot answer my question and that it has to come directly from her! The HR Staff at K12 wrongfully fires people who they hire on Contract. The main Supervisor, Carolina, has no skills in the area of supervising and relied on new leads i.e. Justin and Kayla. Kayla cannot speak well at all. She is a 37 year old female with no future and was given a promotion to lead. However, she lacks the skills to train anyone. If you want to be stressed out and afraid of being fired at any time this is the job for you. I have experienced first hand contract employees being fired every Friday. There is a wanton disregard for the individual who works at K12. The document production specialists are treated poorly. Perhaps if the supervisors are let go and the leads are fired this could be a great place to work. The staff makes the company. Buyer Beware! They outsource and you are nothing more than a number. Their security is lacking and one day a disgruntled employee will come back. read more

Please read this article at Jacksonville.com "Investigation under way on K12 virtual school used in Northeast Florida districts" I enrolled my child midway through the school year. Enrollment was a nightmare. The phone numbers the site gives you keeps you pressing another # for help and you get nowhere. Their corporate office in Herndon VA had to complete our enrollment because their 800 number couldn't do it. I was told by the teacher that my child's *PLAN* had been modified to complete a certain percentage of the coursework to complete school on time. It wasn't. The teacher never contacted me even after a month of attending. I reached out to her first. The additional teacher never contacted me. The elective teacher didn't even have my child on her roster until I contacted her. My child finished the entire 2nd grade curriculum in 5 months because I thought we were behind because of the issue of not having the schedule initially modified. I contacted ALL the appropriate employees to find out why this happened and NO ONE will put anything in writing because they will be held liable for making mistakes. I will NEVER recommend this school to anyone. Quite frankly, I believe K12 is a SCAM to get our tax payer dollars for corporate advancement. read more

K12 offered me so many opportunities when I was in high school that I wouldn't have had at my local public school. I attended Agora Cyber Charter School for the majority of my high school career, and it offered me a lot of flexibility and personalized learning opportunities. I am currently attending Penn State Altoona and I feel I was well prepared for the transition into college due to the fact that I learned to become an independent learner. I developed good research skills and discipline to manage my own education. Could not have been happier. :) read more

I have educated my sons at home since birth. They were enrolled in K12 for many years and we had a wonderful experience! We started in kindergarten and my oldest is now in high school. He was enrolled from K-8th. We really like the curriculum and the flexibility it provided us. For example, if my son grasped a concept quickly, we did not spend a great deal of time in it and we could move on to the next area. I also appreciated that they were able to become independent thinkers and work independently on their work without me standing over their shoulders. We started off in on the public school side, although we were able to complete all work at home, and eventually we moved to independent study courses when our family relocated to a state that did not offer the publIc school online option. Whenever my sons have taken standardized tests they always scored very high which somewhat validated our use of K12. I believe that parents need to be actively involved and work with their children. I appreciated the simplicity of the online courses, the ability to easily check their progress, and we supplemented if I wanted to dig deeper in a subject. I would recommend K12's online program for families that also travel a great deal. Overall, we had a great experience! There is always room for improvement, thus my 4 star rating instead of 5. The entire enrollment process, and the initial stages of becoming acquainted with the on-line school system is a TOTAL nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After FINALLY getting all of my paper work approved - including Immunization records - for kids that will never interact with any other students, I then had to pretty much teach myself the ropes of accessing and completing the online attendance, lessons, etc. The entire process is absolutely HORRIBLE. However, once I FINALLY figured things out, it was a smooth year. However, this year i am attempting to enroll my youngest daughter, and the same crap is hindering me from getting her enrolled. They have denied EVERYTHING submitted at least once, and I am just tired, tired, tired of this crap!!!! Proof of Residency [they denied my lease, my gas bill - because there was a past due balance showing on the bill of $21 - which was paid, my kindergartener's Health Examination form [my children are exempt from vaccinations], Immunization Waiver, etc. You would think that they would do everything in their power to ensure that children are enrolled in a timely fashion, but they don't. All communication is via email - approvals, denials, etc. They lack the adequate staffing to address your needs and concerns, and they could care less! If you put your child in this school make sure you never need to take them out. That's when the problems start. We started the switch back to public school in Sept. of 2015. We requested a withdrawal. We waited about a week for someone to contact us. They asked us why were withdrawing our son. We told them, and they said ok it will be a few days while we contact your Sons teachers for grades. Needless to say by end of Oct. we still had not received ANYTHING from K12. We had called, emailed, and even sent out our own emails to individual teachers on their kmail system. Eventually by Nov communication from k12 stopped. By this time we had sent all his books & supplies back per request from K12 (in Oct.) So now our Son was no longer receiving learning materials from k12, and we had nothing from them to put him in public school. They still had not withdrawn him, so the school here couldn't put him in school seein as he was still enrolled in k12. By the end of Nov. K12 locked us out of their online system. Along with disabling his student number, so after that we had no way to contact anyone! It is now April 2016 & they still have NEVER sent ANY forms what so ever to our local school, nor have they withdrawn our son from their school. They HAVE though taken it upon themselves to send us truancy forms on our Son. Stating that we have failed to "send him to school". & that they will have to report us. . .seriously?Your review helps others learn about great local businesses. Zero stars: Anyone experienced the Kafkaesque nightmare of this enrollment process? Unquestionably the worst and most traumatic bureaucratic fiasco of our entire lives. Misinformation, arbitrary deadlines, ignored requests for information, and on and on.. . Ultimately resulting in an unjust, unfair decision to wait list my child after numerous requests for urgent help with application paperwork and a looming deadline. No one seems to be in charge here, and good like trying to reach anyone but a misinformed worker who just processes materials and denies all responsibility and accountability. I am just beginning to recover and pull together resources to file a formal complaint against K12. They are wholly unprofessional and totally uncaring. Definitely do not waste your time on this company. K12 was the absolute worst decision I have ever made. I was a student at K12 International Academy for my senior year after struggling with medical problems that gave me a late start. K12 refused to offer me anything above a 8th grade level, they put me in classes that I have taken already, and gave me absolutely no say in anything. I accepted this because K12 was my only option for completing my senior year on time. I have since endured months of ignorant teachers that refuse to interact with their students. I have been through countless tutors in an attempt to salvage my grades since the classes offer virtually no instruction and the teachers refuse to help--though I have no doubt they would not be able to tell you the first thing about the subject they "teach" in the first place. The tutors I have hired have all been graduate level students in the field of the class. The most amusing may be physics which has sent me through many tutors because graduate level physics students could not decipher the explanations or exam questions that K12 courses offer. I have been taught the subject thoroughly, but because of the incorrect usage of technical terms, blatant misuse of information, and complete incompetence behind all written material included in the courses. Graduate level students and higher in that specific field cannot decipher the questions the exams ask. The exams have nothing to do with the actual subject--they are simply a test of memorizing and deciphering however K12 decides that physics actually works. My US History teacher, Jeremiah Hassler, has been the biggest struggle as a teacher, rather than the class and curriculum itself. Mr. Hassler has a system of creating requirements for assignments that he does not communicate to his students in any way, shape, or form. When confronted about horrible grades due to instructions that were never actually given, he quickly revises his course material to show the actual instructions so unless you're prepared with screenshots of every page of his class, there's absolutely no way to actually combat this. He has repeatedly created reasons to dock points from assignments that he does not bother to mention or explain in any way until personally confronted. The way he responds to his students is extremely condescending--he acts as if his students can barely speak English and they're just stupid. Also, Mr. Hassler gives assignments within the lessons. Additionally, he has a document in the DocSharing tab of the course titled "Assignment Announcements." On the original assignments located within the units, there are instructions on how to complete the assignments. The Assignment Announcements document contains, I've been told, the actual instructions for the assignments--that often contradict what is actually written on the assignment itself. As I am nearing the end of my time with K12, I am sincerely wishing that I had given up a year of my time and waited start my senior year rather than wasting my time and energy with K12. read more

I am the mother of an 8-year-old girl and a 7-year-old boy. Both my children have only attended CAVA since they started school. CAVA WAS good when I started with my daughter. Both of my children have only been in CAVA for their school life. Unfortunately, the administrators that make decisions are turning CAVA into another bureaucratic school that only cares about standardized testing and every year they add new requirements that make very little sense. They burden the students with non-educational test taking practices that takes up too much of their time and eats into precious hours that should be spent on learning and other fun activities. I have been with CAVA for 4 years now and I've decided that this will be my last year. When they made my young son (first grader) sit down to take some ridiculous math placement change assessment that was extremely long it became apparent to me that the administrators have lost track of what they are trying to accomplish and seem only concerned about testing. This was the first time in 4 years that we had to do this placement change assessment for math. I believe that this is because CAVA administrators have no clue about real education. Kids end up hating school with these types of requirements and restrictive practices. I suggest that the people that administer these checks and balances sit in the classroom for a month with diverse learning coaches to understand what can actually be accomplished with students that are of different ages, personalities, gender, ethnicity, etc. Cava offers many outings; however, the workload is so great that they can never take a day off to go to these outings. When I started CAVA 4 years ago, CAVA used the "K-12" curricula in their courses and it was a great and flexible curricula. The next year they started adding mandatory "standardized testing" elements to the school. This is called "study Island" and one would think that this name should evoke an idea of fun activity for students. But it not the case. Children do not have to test until 3rd grade so why do they need to start practicing in kindergarten? Each year they add new practice tests for the children to do such as I-ready, Scantron, smarter balance assessment, etc. My son's books are 3 times the size of the original books that I used in first grade for my first child. Administrators seem to believe that adding more information or "information cramming" makes better students. The first year we joined CAVA/K12 inc my children were required to turn in one sample for each subject every quarter. Four years later they are now required to submit mandatory teacher samples every quarter. My third grader has to submit a 20 page Word document that is extremely long and tedious and the time allotted for this type of work is three hours. This assignment takes her at least 6 hours. In addition, many "Writing skills" 35-minute time allotments are insufficient for some writing assignments. My advice to CAVA/k-12 is that "less is more" and kids need to love to learn and not just cram information in their brains, as they will not become lifetime learners this way. More and more material is just a recipe for student burnout. Unfortunately CAVA may lose more long-time families if this trend continues. I would not recommend CAVA as it stands currently and the direction that this is headed. If parents wish to give their child a healthy homeschooling experience, they might want to consider other options. CAVA is now simply another public school with the same restrictions and requirements with the only difference being that the kids are at home when they study. Other than that, they are being subjected to standardized testing and programs that lowers their interest and intellect. Asking my kids over and over questions that they have clearly mastered only to satisfy some administrative need is beyond ridiculous. If you want your child to learn how to take standardized tests and cram information in their brains then any school will do, including CAVA. I am not even sure if I can opt out of these ridiculous tests. Why should they be mandatory? I am exercising my right as a parent to do what I must to remove my children from this type of an educational system that focuses on testing rather than learning. That said, I would warn any parent to consider that CAVA is not homeschooling. It is posing as a homeschooling program while shoving material down that is pointless and does not add any value to my kids' education. read more

Then her third year the contact we did have from the teachers was how bad she was doing, or them accusing her of cheating. Occasionally they would ask if she needed help. When she asked for help they just confused her even more, or didn't have an answer to her question. My daughter went from a straight A student to a failing student by the time she was done at k12. When we first registered they said they would hold her back a year because she was behind. I don't get that. That should have been the red flag warning right their. Instead I gave them a chance. She also got behind at the start of the year because their system acted up. I kept calling the 800 number to get this handled but they couldn't help or do anything. This was their tech support. Which was a joke. They couldn't find anything wrong with their system. I was calling everyday for a month. We talked to her English teacher about an assignment we didn't understand. So instead of her explaining she deleted all of her work she had done. She had to start her assignments all over from the beginning. They basically called my daughter stupid when she was accused of cheating. They said their was no way a kid her age could get the punctuation that correct. I guess they don't think kids her age are smart. She was given to much work during the day that doesn't even count towards her grade. Only her test scores are counted towards her grade. Instead of them taking time out of their schedule to teach the material that they put together. They expect the parent to teach 100% of the work. When most of the work the parent doesn't understand because the teacher makes it complicated to teach. They can't even answer questions to their own material. One of her teachers wouldn't even grade the papers my daughter turned in several times. She just kept saying she didn't get them. When she finally did get them she would only grade one paper at a time. She purposely missed the last week of school so her students couldn't turn in any of their work. All the work my daughter did and turned in they gave her two incompletes for math and english. Though at the beginning of the semester she had B's in those classes. By the end of the year she had two incompletes and the rest of her grades were d's. Her science teacher put a project on her syllabus to complete at the end of the year. She didn't give any descriptions or instructions on what to do. So when my daughter asked her teacher she said the instructions were in her syllabus. That wasn't true. It's stupid that you have to talk to the teachers every month. When they don't care whether you pass or fail. They don't even have time to grade the assignments. Then you have to talk to the homeroom teacher almost every week when she doesn't even do anything. She always has to talk to someone else then get back to us. She never has an answer for anything. I don't even understand why these people get paid. Every time I told the teachers why she was behind. All they said was she needed to get caught up do at least two to three assignments a day to get caught up along with all of your other daily work as well. It was just to much for my daughter to handle. She did her best to get caught up. They wanted to put her in a remedial math course for the next year. So I decided to put her back in public school. I have been trying to withdraw her from k12 but they have been giving me the run around fr two weeks. I finally got thru today and they gave me a website to get her transcripts. I had to pay to get her transcripts. All the money we paid for her to go to school their. I shouldn't have to pay for her transcripts. I am just hoping she is not going to be put further behind when she goes back to public school. I am just so frustrated with k12. I won't recommend them to anyone. It is the worst school ever. The work load is ridiculous as well. If I could I would give this school no stars. This school was such a waste of time and money. I am going to do everything I can so that this doesn't happen to someone else. read more

K12 itself has always been as helpful as possible to us, however, they are not OVER any of their schools, and as far as I can tell, their schools have NO accountability. I've had a few very frustrating incidents and literally had nowhere to turn. We completed two years with a particular school and decided to not return next year. However, we were RE-ENROLLED WITHOUT OUR CONSENT and now in the middle of trying to withdraw. For those of you indicating you've had problems with enrolling, trust me, withdrawing is at least that hard, if not more so. I wouldn't necessarily discourage anyone from enrolling, but I would just say, proceed with caution. read more

K12 has been the best decision for my daughter we have had many problems at regular schools due to weather it was bullying or teachers not caring pretty much any other problems like that and at K12 we haven't experience problems like that this will be going on 4th year this upcoming year and it's been a blessing for our family the teachers at K12 state actually would go out of their way to make sure they are there for their students and do what they can to make their learning experience the best they can they understand that each child is an individual's and is different and that they all learn differently at different pace and are unique and make sure that its ok be themselves. Also my daughter was not challenged enough at regular school she was bored and honestly got punished for it and it was hard when came to medical and all and with K12 do you have you have a certain progress that has to be completed by a certain time that way by testing timing and end of the school year everything's complete it but at the same time you could also work ahead which my daughter does and they are able to complete things early. Theres meet and greets so the kids to have chances to meet other kids and interact with them and be social... it's been a very much of a blessing for our family and I think it's the best decision that I gave my child and she absolutely loves it between the class connect with the teachers and other students and kids students the chance to have responsibilities as well as work independently and I always believed that also a parent knows their child last in better than others will and knows what limits your child have and how for them to succeed....Thank you K12 ... awesome program, and we look forward to many more years with yall!! read more

They are the most disorganized program. They are not interested in helping your kids get the best education possible, they are only interested in getting the most government money possible. I have spend hours on the phone to enroll my kids and have never gotten past submitting documents. They lie about what you need, their customer service is uneducated about how to get your child enrolled. I have no confidence in this program. The application process was a grueling and a VERY frustrating experience when it did not need to be. I could have not wasted so much time and effort if the representatives (though very nice) were more informative/certain about what their program actually is/offers. K12 is NOT a program for children who are HOMESCHOOLED and HAVENT BEEN in public schools. There seems to be some confusion as to what a "homeschooler" actually is. K12 is a (((VIRTUAL SCHOOL))) done at home for children who have/are/continue to be PRESENTLY enrolled in public schools. K12 caters to students who have to continue their education at home due to personal reasons (ex: bullying). K12 DOES NOT cater to children who have been expelled (not pertaining to my child but I was given this information and thought I would share to those this might pertain to you). A HOMESCHOOLER is a student who does not attend public schools nor is affiliated with the public school system. If you are trying to enroll your homeschooler, who has been homeschooled for some time now (possibly always), K12 IS NOT FOR YOU, DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. K12 follows the same state regulations that public schools follow which include immunizations (even though the student is at home), state exams (not required for homeschoolers), progress reports (not required for homeschoolers) and public school transcripts (obviously does NOT apply to homeschoolers)...! I am certain that this program is wonderful for the students they cater too, which IS NOT HOMESCHOOLERS, but yet, PUBLIC-SCHOOLERS. I hope this saves some time and effort for homeschoolers who are curious about this program. The Virtual Academy in South Carolina I think is THE worst of them all. They claimed my daughter didnt submit ANY work for 3 months and insinuated that it was my fault, but they really took their time opening up her completed work and adding her grades in. The principal, office staff and one witch teacher weren't even honest and didn't even care that I caught them up in lies. So I practically ran out of civilness with a particular teacher and let her have it. Oh boy, she was super dramatic and contacted the principal and he contacted the schools lawyer, which didn't frighten me not even an ounce, lol, but it was super funny that they responded very quickly with dropping my daughter and contacting an attorney but took their time to respond to ALL my daughters emails requesting help and understanding, took their time with opening her submitted work and adding her grades in and/or anything pertaining to my daughter education. That school is a joke and the staff is nasty and rude and as soon as you give them the same courtesy and respect they have given you, then that becomes the problem!! Runaway!!! Do not waste your time with k-12!!! They have HORRIBLE customer service, because nobody communicates or takes notes. The application process is VERY tedious and repetitive. I spoke to more than 12 people at k-12, and none of them were on the same same page. We were made to re-fax my grades and proof of guardianship 3 times. And every person we talked to said that they either didn't receive my proof of guardianship and/or grades from last year. I was also lied to by a worker and told that an official stamped school document would be an acceptable substitute for my birth certificate (proof of guardianship), which I had miss-placed at the time. But when I spoke to Jane wells (a manager) she told us that only a birth certificate or well fair paper work was okay to use. Jane also said that on that following Monday I would be enrolled and it would be my first day, and that I wouldn't have to makeup for any assignments and that I would only have to take the 4 common core classes. Then when Monday came along none of my classes appeared, so I talked to my advisory teacher who claimed that I must not be 'fully enrolled yet.' The next day I tried again and the wrong classes were up with assignments from weeks ago saying that they were over due. I'm now behind because of them and I have to scramble to get in another school. read more

I have to empathize. My experience with K12 has been different. Although no one can answer a question or answer an e-mail, the design of the system and processes is the base of my complaint. Material written for the coach is under the student's lesson plan, but no one tells you that. The coach's books have missing information. We constantly run into glitches where something will not load correctly or it doesn't make sense. The system apparently assumes that both parents get along. They don't have a method for a separated parent to check on the student's grades and progress unless they set them up as a coach. This means giving two people control over entering attendance...not a good idea. I could go on and on. But I am in total agreement about this being a nightmare!! read more

HORRIBLE!! Do yourself a favor and stay away from K12. It is very disorganized and the learning is all out of order. My experience with the "teachers" has been really bad, they do not help at all and the parents are held accountable for not being able to keep up with the chaos and confusion from K12. We decided this year to do K12 for various reasons and one of them is due to our move from Ohio to AZ in September. We thought AZVA (Arizona Virtual Academy) would help us with a smooth transition since we couldn't start school in Ohio but were very late starting school in AZ. To say the least, this might be the most misguided path we've made regarding our daughter's 6th grade education. We were encouraged by the enrollment staff to start our enrollment in Ohio so that the only thing left to wrap up would be proof on residency. Our initial attempt at proof of residency was denied (our mortgage paperwork on our new house) so we had to drop everything and get our new driver's licenses (not an easy feat in AZ, especially with three kids in tow). Anyway, we were enrolled the very next business day. Yes, enrolled and now expected to log school hours, five hours a day. How? We really didn't know what was expected of her. Seeing that we had 6-9 business days till school books would arrive, we jumped in with the goal of getting those videos about online school finished. One video would have done the trick. We had to take five videos. I can't remember anything from the videos but the basics and the fact that if I ever have another question, I should resort to another video. Let me get to the basic fact as to why I WOULD NEVER RECCOMMEND THIS SCHOOL TO ANYONE WHO WOULD HAVE A LATE ENROLLMENT -- 10 DAYS LATER (80 HOURS OF EXPECTED LOGGED SCHOOL HOURS) AND OUR MATERIALS HAVE NOT ARRIVED AND OUR TEACHERS ARE JUST BEGINNING TO BE ASSIGNED!!!! QUESTION: WHAT SCHOOL WOULD FIND IT ACCEPTABLE FOR A CHILD TO BE WITHOUT TEACHERS OR SCHOOL BOOKS AND STILL EXPECT SCHOOLWORK TO BE COMPLETED? ANSWER: K12 IN AZVA Yes, our September move to AZ caused our late enrollment, but AZVA now has caused my daughter to be 8 weeks behind the class and there is no promise of materials arriving AND NO ONE IS LISTENING!!!!! NEVER I MEAN NEVER USE THIS SCHOOL! No teachers there for you and they are horrible. My computer once lagged to where I couldn't take my attendance and it's just soo stressful. I hated public school but I'm going back for my own sake. I learned nothing from this school. I hope they take this school down I mean I think this should be illegal to put up such poor education. The stuff was stuff I was learning from last year. Like what? Waste of my time I could be getting better education from a homeless person probably. I'd like to tell you and everyone else that K12 TXVA is keeping my daughter from an education. After submitting a request to withdraw my daughter from K12 TXVA, it took several days for them to contact me back with any information on how to do so. I was TOLD that I could enroll her back into public school and if they public school needed any documentation, to call a certain number. Well, they called the number, its all automated and sends you to a different number. Not one time has the school or myself been able to speak with a real person since we told them we wanted to withdraw her. The public school needs her attendance records and transcripts before she can enroll, but K12 TXVA has not called back, e-mailed, mailed or anything since telling them we wanted to withdraw her, but they sure did suspend our OLC login accounts which has all the "K-Mails" and information. My daughter has been out of school over a week now since the public school doesn't know what to do without her attendance record or transcript. I'd never put a child in K12 again. read more

This is a tale of a 8th grade boy. Ok lets first say that "work at your own pace" is a bunch of crap. As soon as you fall back by ONE DAY, you are 9 times out of ten never going to get out of the pit of doing work. The teachers bombard you with test after test, giving you pretty much no time to really study. Sometimes, they mention things that are not on there calendars (don't get me started on those pieces of crap) during the class connects that they have daily (except for fridays, they usually pile more work on you on that day). This means that if you have plans to go anywhere during these times, you are going to be behind. The tests they assign are usually on different websites, making it a scavenger hunt just to find it. The teachers are okay, i guess, but whenever you have a question, they give the most vaguest answer. Having three brothers, two of which are only 4 and 5, as well as one that takes college and high school, the time of which I could do my work is slim, unless you want to stay up until like 10pm doing work. I have pretty gone insane from juggling time, family, and school work. Whenever i go to bed, which for me is like 9-10pm for week days, I can't go to sleep until 1am due to being nervous of how I could possibly do all of work that would be assigned the next day. Basically this school gave me slight insomnia and insanity. Remember, I am only 14... In conclusion this school is crap, don't go here unless you want to go insane.
