We met Megan before the pandemic when searching for an off leash trainer for our older corgi. After a 2 week boot camp with Megan, Nilla was a different dog (in all the right ways). She was still loyal, loving, and attached to her family, but she was also obedient and finally a pleasure to walk and take to busy places like parks and shopping centers. When we got our second dog it wasn't even a question.. He went for training as soon as he was past puppyhood. Beyond training, Megan has cared for our dog while traveling for many weeks. Even though she lives well over an hour away from my home, I gladly make the drive - Because she put in the time to build a relationship with my dogs. But if you're an Asian woman with a fluffy dog I recommend either bringing a body guard or finding something else to do. People are probably too scared to write a negative review because this owner is frightening. I will never come anywhere close to here again. After I parked my car at the pool, I opened my door. Before taking my seatbelt off, 2 dogs under Rhonna's care came running at me full speed off leash. Not a big deal, I just shut the car door because she seemed to be mildly freaking out about this. She frantically yelled at them to come back & they did. I opened the window & asked if they were friendly. She replied "yes, but they still shouldn't do that." I said "no worries fine by me". The dogs running over didn't phase me, they were off leash & excited. Context: this is in the rural part of Hollister with gravel back roads. There was absolutely no signage about where dogs should or should not pee & you are outside at a public location for dogs. To reiterate: gravel road in a gravel parking lot in a yard in the rural country. There were no other clients in sight. Just 1 staff member w/ 2 other black dogs for a total of 4 black dogs. After Rhonna got her dogs under control, my dog was understdably excited because 2 dogs off leash having the time of their life just came running at us. My dog & I stepped out of the car, he pees on a steel pole in the parking lot. Rhonna yelled at me at the TOP of her lungs DO NOT LET YOUR DOG PEE ON THAT!!!!! I was like woah, okay, I don't know why you have to YELL AT ME, I didn't raise my voice & was super cool & chill about your dogs doing their thing so that clearly felt super aggressive. I said "I'm so sorry - is there a hose? Can I clean it?" She ignored me & walked to an outdoor sink fuming like a child and NOT a business owner. I followed her to help but she was still visibly super grumpy which seemed super dramatic for the context & situation. I mean maybe she was just having a horrible morning, but I just drove OVER an hour for an 85$ half hour lesson so it made me extremely uncomfortable to get yelled at first thing because of a dog's natural behavior when I was super chill about your dog. I have never seen anyone yell at a dog for peeing OUTSIDE. On a POLE. In a parking lot! I have seen dogs pee in pet stores & not get yelled at like this. Like dude we are outside. What happened did not warrant her behavior. I said "no really, I'm happy to clean it." She exclaimed "no! there is a pee area over there please go pee there only!l To reiterate to anyone reading this post, there were NO SIGNS DESIGNATING WHERE TO PEE & NOT PEE. There are only signs saying "clean up after your dog." She could have walked to my car & told me the rules or told me politely at LEAST. not sure if what happened next was crazier than what already transpired... Rhonna comes over & the first thing she says was the most discriminatory & rude first question I have ever heard. "WHAT makes you think your dog will even swim?" As if her yelling at me for my dog peeing outside in a parking lot wasn't enough. I am half Asian & my dog is a Eurasier. Like, come on, there are at least 55 other nicer ways to initiate a conversation about whether this is the right fit for my pet. I said, "excuse me?" she said, "well THAT breed of dog doesn't like to swim." I said, "oh! you know this breed of dog?" She clearly had no idea what breed of dog I had (Eurasier) which I know b/c she evaded the question and deflected and then told me point blank halfway through the lesson that she didn't know what kind of dog he was. She said "well what I mean is fluffy dogs like yours don't ever swim well". I said I was there because I wanted to be follow the rules & book a 1 on 1 class (not cheap by the way, 85$ for half hour) so that he can come when his friends privately book the pool. I told her I'm happy to leave if she didn't want us there & she said no no let's do this. She ended up being nice from this point forward but this was the rudest welcome I have ever experienced & it ruined the entire experience. My dog ended up jumping off of the ramp several times & swimming like a pro. She even admitted she was wrong about him more than once. But wow! I have never experienced anything like this in a setting where I am paying top dollar for services and traveling at length. Upon booking there needs to be a breed question if this is really SUCH an issue for her. Just be aware that the owner has a scary temper & don't let your dog pee in the parking lot. I have never written a negative review like this. I only rate with 4 and 5 stars. But sharing aggressive behavior like Rhonna's is the right thing to do so we can all make the best choices for our families. It's time for behavior like this to stop.

It started very well in the beginning early last year. But, today I picked up my dog and she was shaved again! They had her in there for 3hours! Just to shave all her fur! :( I asked for a trim half an inch on the body (I don't want her shaved, keep her fluffy) shave the tummy, clean private parts, teeth cleaning and bath. I had her groomed to be ready for a photo and now she's shaven. I'm so upset! This is the second time they did this to us. And, I can't be understanding anymore. Last time was last November 2025. So she's, ready for the holiday festivities and photos. But, she was shaved! I had to have her wear sweaters all winter because she was getting cold and looked malnourished. And, they offer a free grooming for next time! Why in the world would I bring my dog to them again. No consistency! Both times it was the same person at the drop off. I have nothing good to say to this place anymore.

They said they would start with a bath and go slow with the blower and see how she does. They assured me they'd stop at any point if she got too anxious with the process. She did well and I picked her up a few hours later with her smelling great with a nice trim as well. She looked amazing. I am really happy with the staff at Cali Petz. Everyone is very kind and willing to talk about any concerns I had throughout the process. I will definitely be going back for dog grooming. They have indoor kennels and outdoor options, and the dogs get plenty of playtime with lots of space to run. Our dog especially loves playing with the hose or her water bowl, and Shannon happily indulges our pup in one of her favorite things. The best sign for us is how excited she gets when we take her. The minute we turn onto the street she knows where she's going and starts getting excited in the car. Dogs are great judges of character, so that tells us a lot. Everything is also very clean and well kept. When we pick her up she's happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. We've even added a bath before pickup and she always comes home clean and happy. They way they explained in detail what was wrong providing copies of test results and X-rays without my having to beg.
