Why 5 stars? Because this man is fluent in dog. --- --- --- We got a new puppy a few months ago, so one of the first things we searched for was a good trainer in the area. Approximately 10 seconds after my initial search, it was very obvious that Scott was the easy decision. He's been collecting reviews for years and virtually all of them are 5-stars. It was a virtual guarantee that we would be happy if we called Scott. So we called Scott. Yes, these services are not cheap. But you get what you pay for and what you pay for here is a human being who speaks dog. Owning a puppy can be the source of unlimited stress, but you can really minimize that stress when you have someone like Scott to help you learn how to tackle all of the issues that pop up along the journey. And honestly, you plan to have a puppy in your life for many years - getting good behavior for potentially a decade+ is not money you are going to regret spending. We purchased the middle-tier package which consisted of 5 visits (4 in home and 1 at a park) + the opportunity to reach out to him whenever we have any future issues and need a bonus session or just some help. Scott came to our house for visit #1, and I will never forget how hard I laughed when he *immediately* transformed our girl from a cracked out puppy to a completely submissive and obedient dog after a simple, two-step action. And his method is never to hurt your dog - this is all done by just mimicking the behavior of an older dog who is teaching a puppy how to behave. Each visit resulted in better and better behavior. As of this writing, our puppy is 5 months old, but we have greatly accelerated her emotional intelligent, far behind her actual age. Our last visit was at a big park that had a dog park and a playground. There were a bunch of kids playing on the playground and they wanted to come say hello and pet our dog. Of course, I forgot all of *my* training and was failing to control her from jumping and being crazy. Scott patiently watched me messing up, and eventually, calmly walked over, took the leash, did his two step command, and just like the first day: POOF, it was like an exorcism. Suddenly, she was calm and submissive, allowing the toddlers to pet her without anymore lunatic behavior. The group of parents literally ooh'd and ahh'd at this marvel. I'm so glad others were able to witness his magic. And I'm so glad Scott was one of our first calls after we brought Birdie into our lives. I highly recommend you do the same. read more

I rescued my dog, Tito, in May of 2022 and a little after that he started showing poor door manners and big signs of protectiveness of me and the home. Nothing seemed to help with the behavior, but not even after the first session was finished, I was able to see tremendous improvement in Tito. I was amazed at the ease of the training techniques and how quickly they worked for our rescue dog, Milly. She liked to jump on whoever she wanted to meet and greet and we were having no luck at getting her to listen. Update 10/28/2017: We completely finished the training and I'm not sure how effective it was anymore, honestly. The initial session was the best. Afterwards I didn't see much changes in our dog. She is still having behavioral issues like tearing through clothes, wires, etc-- especially when she's acting out. 04/13/2017: I will update once we finish the entire training course! I found Scott through Google because we have a new German Shepherd puppy (4 months old) that needed some obedience training. Our family had never trained/cared for dogs this big (or this smart) before so I needed some help. We also have a senior long-haired dachshund (9 years old) that needed to brush up a bit on his training as well. After reading through his website and seeing his training philosophy, I contacted him and immediately set up a consultation. This review is overdue! We sold our home and moved into an apartment during this transition. I needed to learn how to walk our big boy (rather than him walk me) on a leash since he no longer had his dog run. Our Buddy Bear is a large 8 year old Goldendoodle. I wasn't quite sure we could make it happen, but very quickly and some practice Scott made me the leash leader and it's great! Buddy also liked to greet everyone who entered the house by jumping up and licking their face. Not something every visitor appreciated. Scott is great! My 11 year old dog had never been through any sort of training and he has responded very well to what Scott teaches. My dog now walks beside me instead of pulling on the leash. He does not bark and run up to the door when someone knocks. When we are eating he goes to his own bed and lays down and does not beg for food. Updating my original review because after our 5 sessions i feel as though not much of what we learned has been effective. After the first training, each session after that was maybe 30 minutes if not shorter. I was disappointed to have spent so much money for such a small amount of time. I understand we have to continue the training beyond the sessions but the techniques have not been working. Our dog was more afraid of the trainer being here than the actual training. I think looking back at this investment, it was a waste of money. I don't like writing bad reviews but for people like us with a huge dog and a baby on the way, it is so important to find a place that will spend more time with us and truly give us the outcome we need. read more

My dog listen instantly the first day. Within 30 minutes my dog didn't rush to the door and already knew what was expected from him. My dog will listen anytime you have a treat and clicker in hand but is not interested if you do not have any. This way of training I do not have to worry about any of that. Wow...just wow!!! We really like Scott as a person and as a dog trainer. He is kind and gentle with our pup, which is important to us. We have had one lesson and our one year old, wild and crazy lab is already a better dog! It is quite amazing. Scott took his time teaching us first, how best to communicate with our dog, then we went on to work with our dog and practice what we had just learned. Scott gave us several great tips that worked well right off the bat. Practice is very important, between lessons. So we are doing our part in the process. He followed up with an email to check on how we were doing and asked if we had any questions or issues and promptly responded back with helpful suggestions. I found Scott on yelp and after reading the reviews, my husband and I agreed to do the assessment. From the minute I met Scott, I felt a positive and calm energy that made me feel like he was what we have been looking for to help us with our Rufus. My little terrier mix is very loud and barks at anything and everything. He doesn't let people near me and sometimes even my husband can't come near me. During the assessment, Scott explained his method of training and was able to see how our Rufus reacts to visitors. He explained his rates and let us discuss it before setting a training date. We've only had one training and So far we are pleased with how our Rufus is behaving. Scott is helping us learn how to speak our pups language and also set the tone of our pack. It's one thing to hear it and read it, but Scott is showing us how to actually do it with body language and tone of voice. With any training, if you don't practice it you will lose it, so I think the more we practice with our pup the better trained he will be. Scott is very friendly and flexible with his schedule so it works great with mine and my husbands work schedule. I also love that he gives us time to practice with our pup before moving on to the next training session. It helps us to really learn new habits that way instead of being overloaded with the next lesson right away.
