I had a 10 month old Springer Spaniel puppy named Maya who was terrorizing me. She was jumping all…read moreover everything, stealing shoes, chewing, and overwhelming other dogs and new people. I couldn't take her anywhere. I had already spent an outrageous amount of money on another trainer with no success. I was seriously considering rehoming her. But my vet recommended Corinna and when I met her I could see immediately see, she was different. When my dog came at her with over zealous excitement Corinna handled her quietly and firmly, with very little exertion on her part. Maya spent 3 weeks at her Board & Train. Corinna sent me regular videos of Maya's progress and I couldn't believe I was seeing my dog. She even took Maya inside Home Depot and set her by herself, not tethered to anything and walked away with people walking all around and she just calmly stayed where she was told to. Wow. When I picked her up Corinna went over all her new commands and how to get the results I have been looking for. Since she has been home things are so different. We still have some chewing issues but they are improving every day. From time to time I have called Corinna up and we will discuss what is going on and she will give me advise on how to continue to work on any problems I might be having. Maya has become such a great dog. I would highly recommend Corinna to anyone having problems with their dog. She knows her stuff.

We could never leave our house for more than 15 minutes without him soiling in his crate and destroying our home. And he was horrified by just about anything. Strong winds. Garbage can lids. Golf carts. Bikes. Birds. But his greatest fear was children and their high-pitched voices. Unfortunately, predicting when kids would pop out during our walks was impossible. Our dog is very affectionate and sweet when calm, but when triggered, he would forget about his surroundings and aggressively scratch his way home (he's a big dog too), resulting in unintentional injuries for my husband and me. That said, we wanted him to experience the outdoors! Luckily, we connected with Corinna -- and we are SOOO lucky to have a dog psychiatrist, trainer, and magician in HOUSTON!! She was professional from day 0. She visited our home with a comprehensive list of questions and took copious notes. Walked us through her training methods and the different programs. We chose the 6-week intensive training, as we knew our dog had some psychological trauma that needed to be addressed. It was worth every penny. Corinna doesn't just take your money and peace out -- she truly cares. She continues to occasionally check in on us, and we trust her so much that she's our preferred dogsitter whenever we travel. A few months ago, I had a traumatized, skittish, and semi-aggressive dog. Today, I have a loving, peaceful, friendly, and calm buddy who enjoys watching me cook in the kitchen. AND HE BEGS TO GO ON WALKS!!!!!!!! As an added bonus, I've uploaded pics of my dog BEFORE and AFTER Corinna's 6-week program.

We initially thought we'd foster her for adoption due to her dog aggression issues. After working with Travis, we decided togive Rosie a forever home ourselves. We brought Travis in to privately train her so she didn't have to deal with the stress of a group setting and because we wanted a tailored training program. With Lone Star Dog Training, we received an excellent job. Travis educated us about how training is important and what results he felt we could see. Over the course of 4 months, Rosie went from being aggressive toward our other dogs to feeling safe and comfortable with them. She's even adopted our 12 year old border terrier as her sister. Rosie has progressed from a frightened stray who did not wag her tail or understand how to take affection, to bounding and leaping with joy when she sees her people. She now seeks out our affections and looks forward to spending time with us. If not for Lone Star Dog Training, we would not have decided to keep her. It showed us what a wonderful, fun and loving dog Rosie is. Thank you, Travis , for your dedication and patience with us.

She is now 50% potty trained and hit or miss with responding to commands. Upon receiving the puppy back after 6 weeks of training I wasn't really impressed. Attention for the puppy is gained for short bursts of time while using an Electronic Collar to correct any improper acts. (The electronic collar has several settings that use a vibration feature as well as traditional shock. Personally, we keep the vibration feature on as opposed to the more aggressive option.) When the demonstration for the training was given to us the puppy was sitting on its little bed... then peed on it.... And continued to sit. This act explains why our puppy with white markings has yellow tint to her. Overall, there are some areas where the dog did learn some things but nothing is really well or consistent. She can sit, stay and lay with proper tone and proximity. But her high energy and stubbornness is more than likely the reason why she's not "well trained" after 6 weeks. The trainers are friendly. The price is high. The outcome was less than satisfactory. They offer a 100% training guarantee (NOT MONEY BACK GUARANTEE). But with 6 weeks of constant training and this little retention it's not worth bringing the dog back month after month for the next several years just to have a dog that will stay consistently.

Bob gave me the tools to overcome this bump in the road and for that I was very grateful. It just was not happening before I hired him. We were and are in training with someone else to pass the AKC CGC test to become a Therapy Dog and he just wasn't getting it. I felt that this $350 was money well spent. When it came time to test, I got nervous so I called Bob again to help me with the portion of the test that was to have my dog have no reaction to another dog. There are certain tasks your dog has to pass and this is one of them. It is more than just walking by another dog. He was to take the test the next day but I was nervous to take the test in case he was to fail this portion. He suggested we meet in front of Petsmart. I was hesitant to stand in front of a store asking customers for help, but hey he is the trainer. I don't know if Bob is unfamiliar with the CGC test as he kept asking me what was expected. Maybe, he just wanted to visit. I kept wondering, "Why is he asking me? He is the professional, not me." After 3 customer's dogs pass by he said, "This lesson was a bust. I'm not going to charge you. You can use me for something else."He encouraged me to take the test anyway. Little did I know that the encouragement would cost $350. My dog did pass the test today, but it is not because of yesterday. My dog and I work every single day together. I absolutely use the tools I was taught by Bob for heeling. My dog is also still in obedience school with another trainer and doesn't need anything Bob has to offer. So, I asked for a refund and he said no. What he did for my dog that day was just look for dogs from customers, pace around the sidewalk and we pretty much just visited. Bob is quite an entertaining guy. This is a picture of Bob's response when I asked for a refund. My response was "Merry Christmas. Keep the money. God Bless." I guess he needs it more than I. Bob knows that standing in front of Petsmart talking and hitting up a few customers is not what got my dog to pass the test. It was hard work for the last 6 months and we have more to go. We are on our way to help those who need a great big dog hug.
