We met Jeff for our FREE consult. He greeted us with his own dog. Who put ours to shame. Lol. Jeff then explained his program to us. We were taken back by the fact that he used e-collars, as we weren't aware beforehand. HOWEVER, he was very straightforward with us and explained how it worked and how it is used as a training tool and not as punishment, and showed us it wouldn't hurt our dog. He was very professional and friendly. I laughed when he said that if we followed his program properly we could have a dog just like his. Now about 6 months into the program.. our pup is doing off leash work and we can actually believe that one day she can be just as well trained. Long story short: Jeff and Staff are all wonderful and knowledgeable. They are attentive and friendly and make you feel welcome every class. Regardless of the few negative reviews, Jeff is kind, professional, knowledgeable, and straight forward. He is always welcoming and makes a point of saying hi to you and your dog every class. Our dog absolutely loves him and gets so excited when he walks by to say hi. Jeff has such positive energy and you can see he truly loves the dogs. All I can say is absolutely worth the money. I would not train my dogs any other way from now on. Finally, if you have any reservations, just go for the free consult first. Give him a chance to explain his program to you. You won't be sorry. Really poor impression of this canine training business from simply speaking to to the owner over…read morethe phone, obviously she doesn't need to make a good first impression to the inquiring public or be helpful about her programs because she doesn't need the business - according to her "her program is so awesome", funny, when I've asked for trainer recommendations from other dog owners this one never came up once.... Anyways, my issue is NOT with the fact that she is very strict with her age limits for the class (I am hardly offended by this by the way!) but in the way which I was poorly helped over the phone. This has been the most unhelpful conversation with a trainer I have had so far, and I have chatted with quite a few different schools now inquiring about different methods with different trainers. Either trainers are willing to chat more in depth with me or refer me to another trainer or class who could help me out for what me and my pup need. Basically, I was simply told that it was too late for my puppy and that she wouldn't fit in with the other pups in the classes. I want to enroll my puppy in a program with a down to earth trainer who can relate to the every day dog owner, not with someone who will simply brush me off with no assistance or advice whatsoever because I couldn't participate in their puppy class. I know personality fit with teachers and trainers are really important to a lot of people. First impressions are everything and it pays to treat even potential clients well even if what you have to offer is not suited to them.

Dogsmart was recommended by a friend who raved about their instructors. Tracey, Masumi & Alice all were calm, patient and helpful as we did Beginner Life Skills, Tricks & Games, Shy or Fearful Dog, Dog Out & About and Dog Care Basics. Annette - the friendly lady at the front desk also kept on top of providing multiple notifications for upcoming classes and was always there to help. Training isn't easy and the style might not be for everyone. You will be grilled about how you are working with your dog in all aspects. Words you say, actions you take, actions you didn't take. You will learn a different order of doing things, be asked about what you're doing at that moment but have to listen and visually focus on your dog all at the same time..! My advice: Be patient and practice the activities to the best of your ability! Ask follow-up questions in-class or privately via email and come prepared to talk about what your dog is doing week to week. Retail therapy: there's a shop with a selection of training toys, treats and supplies. It's an awesome spot for anyone looking for new treats to engage your dog at reasonable prices. I have taken him to daycare, boarding, daycare and train, Group Classes and Private classes and don't have a single complaint about any of my experiences. Good Dog Staff are very patient and kind and don't hesitate to go the extra mile when you have questions or concerns. I love that there are a variety of trainers with different approaches but they are all still very patient and positive. It's easy to get frustrated sometimes when training a high strung puppy with a short attention span but I never saw them lose their patience with either of us and they never minded staying a little bit late to address any concerns or questions I had :) I have done the Puppy and Adolescent classes so far and plan on taking them all eventually. I feel that the price is very reasonable considering the quality of training you receive. (High Quality IMO!) If I could do a private lesson every week, I would and it would be worth it! Ace and I have gained so much from the GD trainers and I can't thank them enough. During Daycare and train i received daily 'report cards' on Ace's progress and I always enjoy seeing the daily pictures that are posted on Facebook of all the dogs playing and enjoying each others company. I know that all of the staff is knowledgeable on pack interaction and that Ace is monitored to ensure he is playing appropriately (He sometimes mounts other dogs). They don't ignore problem behavior and they inform me of any concerns upon pick up each day. Last time he went for boarding they noticed he had a puncture on his face (I believe from one of my other dogs) and they went ahead and cleaned it and applied ointment which I SO appreciated. They also sent me an email to make sure I was aware (I had been but it had opened up during play and had been bleeding again) which I know not everyone would do!

DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGS TO THIS FACILITY IF YOU VALUE THEIR SAFETY!!!…read more Yesterday, my dog was viciously attacked by a much larger dog at this facility. My poor girl has puncture wounds on her face, ear, and front leg. She was bleeding and limping in agony when I saw her at the vet. The video footage clearly showed that my dog was walking normally and the attacking dog just ran over and attacked her from the back FOR NO REASON. However, Adventure Den has declined my request for obtaining the video footage. I will not stand for this kind of behavior. I have reported this incident to the city and will be pressing charges if necessary. It's absolutely unconscionable how dogs with such violent tendencies are allowed to pass the so-called temperament assessment in the first place. According to the staff member there, the attacking dog is not a perfect dog and has ALREADY SHOWN REACTIVITY in the past but never physically hurt another dog (yet). It appears that they are waiting for something like this to happen before banning the dog, which is absurd and unacceptable. Precautionary steps should have been taken long ago, and I'm deeply disappointed by their unprofessionalism. The staff-to-dog ratio in the video was also concerning: one staff member was overseeing 10-20 dogs when the incident happened. This is absolutely outrageous; a facility like this should NEVER be understaffed in any given moment. If you know you'll have fewer people working, you take in fewer dogs - it's that simple. This incident very much could've been avoided if the staff member was given a smaller group of dogs in which they could monitor the behaviors closely. If the facility continues with this ratio and un-thorough assessment, I fear that another dog will be seriously injured soon. On the bright side, after the incident happened, the staff member informed me immediately over the phone and took my dog to the vet very quickly. The other dog is now banned permanently, and the owner has offered to cover our medical bills. Thank you for making this experience less bad. But it doesn't change the fact that my dog is injured both physically and mentally, and it doesn't make up for the trauma she has experienced. I urge you not to take your dogs to this facility unless you are okay with putting them in danger. Wishing all the pups to stay safe and healthy.

How you can BLATANTLY LIE about the experience more than two years later is beyond infuriating. He even comes home with a report card that gives us some insight into how he spent his day (what he learned and who his favourite buddies are). We really like that this is a smaller daycare and our dog doesn't come home all smelly like he does when we have taken him to larger ones. The staff is super friendly, as well. They randomly post videos and photos of the dogs on their Facebook page. We like this because we can see how much fun our dog has there. We have also used Biscuits boarding services. It was really nice to leave our dog with a pack and person that he already knew.

He gets to go for a long group walk with his fellow pack mates (whom we know he loves) and every time we come home he's a happy and sandy dog (which shows me he's playing tons and rolling around a lot). I can't recommend Iain or Lauren highly enough, they are professionals who truly love dogs and will look after your little one as if it were their own.
