Preferred Restoration was able to get us booked quickly and they gave us a great rate to clean the carpets in our whole house. The cleaner was prompt and very professional. We had received excellent work from Service Masters and Matt Baker Construction, two separate companies that work together or independently, depending on your needs. Because our experience had been so positive we decided to use them again I went to Yelp to look up the contact information for Matt Baker Construction and was very surprised to see only two reviews, both of them quite negative. Their reports were precisely the opposite of ours so we decided to proceed based on our own experience. Well, this is now just a few weeks later and I am pleased to report that everything is back in place, looking great, completed in a timely matter, within budget, and nothing but friendly and responsive communication with the owner and his staff and subs. I know that we live in a time when one or two negative statements online can literally destroy the reputation of a vendor. This is a family-owned business and they acknowledge they don't know much about Facebook or Yelp. That's okay because I don't know much about sheetrock, and I'm glad they do. State Farm would not back his work and only offered to file another claim to correct something he should've done. Communication was difficult at best. He has a bit of an attitude and hot head. The biggest complaint was shotty floor finish. There were issues from the beginning and immediately after completion. He said there was nothing wrong and it was my fault and my dogs. The finish is horrible. They were in better shape the day after the fire than when he completed. We had all the hardwoods done eight years before and they were better after the fire than what his workers left us with. He was rude to my wife over the issue. Our house cleaner said the floors were the best she'd seen before the fire and the worst after the fire work. He ignored all complaints and would not stand back of his work or honor the 5yr warranty as part of the State Farm PSP. All profit driven and uses State Farm as his primary income provider. I would not recommend for ANY work. My floors are still the crappiest finish and durability. My son's floor finish is still better than mine after 11yrs and used the same contractor we did originally. I wish we would've requested our original contractor for the floor restoration. One year left on Matt Baker's warranty and still thin to no finish in many places. Very poor finish. It has not stood up for any wear. He always had an excuse or blame on us. Not pleased.
