When I called to inform them that I had gone to the previously listed address online and might arrive a few minutes late, I was told upon arrival that I had missed the appointment and they would not see my daughter. At a later date, I called a day in advance to cancel an appointment my daughter no longer needed, and I was informed that it would still be marked as a no‑show and billed accordingly. He was so excited to go to his appointment and meet his new provider. Due to an unexpected accident on the road and GPS rerouting us, we ended up being 15 minutes late, something completely out of our control. Despite explaining the situation, they refused to see him. What makes this even worse is that they didn't just reschedule or give us another chance, they completely declined him from being seen at their clinic at all, just because of one situation that wasn't even our fault. This was supposed to be his very first appointment, and instead of showing any understanding or compassion, especially towards a child, they chose to punish him for something beyond our control. It's incredibly unfair and disappointing that a healthcare provider would lack empathy and be so quick to turn away a 5 year old over circumstances like this. It honestly makes me wonder if our race or ethnicity had anything to do with how harshly we were treated, as we are Arab/Middle Eastern. It just doesn't make sense. I truly hope no other family has to experience this kind of treatment.

After my appointment with Jessica--who has always been fantastic--I opened the door of the exam room and the owner was standing there blocking my way, she said flatly and rudely "thanks for leaving us a 3 star review" I was taken back because it was not only rude and unprofessional but I didn't expect to be ambushed while at the dr's. Jessica rushed from the room, and the owner closed the door behind her as she walked in blocking me from leaving the room and began criticizing me for leaving it. Throughout the conversation (wasn't much of a conversation as she wouldn't allow me to speak and she blocked me from leaving the room)I felt I was not given an opportunity to explain my perspective, as she repeatedly spoke over me whenever I tried to respond. She explained how much she and her staff do for their patients, including caring for cancer patients, and said that I didn't know everything they do throughout the day. I appreciate and respect the work healthcare providers do, and I have no doubt they help many people. However, none of that changes my personal experience as a patient. My original review acknowledged that I received good care while also pointing out a recurring issue with wait times. In my five visits, I was seen approximately 15-30 minutes after my scheduled appointment every time. I understand that delays happen and that doctors sometimes need to spend extra time with patients. My point was simply that patients' time is valuable as well, and consistent delays are worth mentioning in an honest review. When I told the owner that, because of our interaction, I would not be returning to the practice, her response was simply, "Good." Jessica continues to be an excellent provider. She is knowledgeable, personable, and has always treated me with kindness and professionalism. Unfortunately, my interaction with the owner overshadowed those positive experiences. I believe patients should be able to leave respectful, honest feedback--both positive and constructive--without feeling confronted or made to feel guilty for sharing their experience. For reference, here is my original review: "I've received great care from the staff when I've been seen. Dr. Shallman was my surgeon when I had a biopsy in 2006. He had to remove a lymph node from my…read moreneck and so he did the incision right on the natural crease in my neck. You can't even tell there's a scar unless I point it out. He was very good about bearing bad news. I had cancer. But he didn't say the word "cancer." He said "I think you have lymphoma" and that it was easy to treat and that my chances of recovery would be very good. He then told me that the usual course of treatment was chemotherapy and radiation therapy. It wasn't until that point that I knew it was cancer. So I think he went about telling me in the best way possible. One of the nurses was telling me that he had done a carpel tunnel surgery on someone who had a tattoo on their arm and he lined it up perfectly and you could barely see the scar running down the middle of the tattoo.

Dr. Shallman saved my life in 1988 when he first came to the Tri-Cities. I will never ever forget…read morehim! He is my hero. I'd suffered from a burst appendix and perforated bowel. I had been turned away from a local hospital twice (first after 13 hours of vomiting and 2nd after another 13 hours of dry vomiting) - all one week prior to my first encounter with Dr. Shallman. I was turned away from that hospital because I had medical coupons at the time. When my sister took me to a Pasco hospital as a last resort to see if someone could help me there - that is when I first met Dr. Shallman. Dr. Shallman would not leave me until he knew I was okay. My stomach by then was distended and I looked 8 months pregnant (only I was not pregnant). I was full of peritonitis and at first it was not clear what my condition was with all the poison in me masking everything. I was told the pus burst out of my abdomen and hit the ceiling when I underwent surgery. I was that full of poison that was killing me. Dr. Shallman was such a comfort to me - seeing him pacing outside my emergency room bed. He knew I'd been turned away from the other place and he was committed to helping me. Everyone told me I should have died and would have died had it not been for Dr. Shallman's skill and commitment to his patient - me! Talk about a protector! I will never forget the cowboy boots Dr. Shallman wore. At the time I was tickled to discover that doctors wore cowboy boots. He really was such a strong person in the midst of my weakness and with his care and treatment I was released from the hospital 11 1/2 days later. Renewed with hope of an actual future life. All the nurses were so thrilled with the great result he gave me. Dr. Shallman is my hero and I can never thank him enough for saving my life. Seriously. He saved my life! His intelligence, his skill, his commitment to help me - where would I be without those gifts he brought to me? I have nothing but compliments for him and still frequently tell others of my faith in him and how he saved my life when it was hanging by a thread. I still tear up when I think of the gift of life he gave me with his skill and commitment to me. I am forever grateful to him. If there is such a thing as a dream surgeon - he is that to me. I couldn't have asked for more. I hope he gets to read this review. Still - all these years later with a healthy life now, I so admire him and am still so grateful for him being there when I needed help most.
