I am truly disappointed on the intake process of this facility. My father unfortunately was found unresponsive a couple months ago due to a massive GI bleed. Due to the trauma on his body and brain being deprived of oxygen he experienced a common disorder called icu delirium and goes away with time. When discharged my father was sent to a rehab facility and due to immobility concerns needed a long term care. We called this facility and was denied due to a medication he was taking for the delirium. Mind you my fathers mind is clear he is able to make financial decisions, and using his laptop computer and cellphone. This facility only cares about money and nothing about patient care. We chose this facility because it has a lot to offer but to be denied over one medication is insanity. They also claim they offer memory care services for patients with Alzheimer's and dementia. If you were to ever look into there medication history you will find the pages of medications for mental health and mood stabilizers. Don't go here they really don't care about helping our community. read more

My dad went to the Kahl Home after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. The staff was outstanding. Our family could not have placed my dad in a better place for his final remaining weeks. Thank you to all the employees including the front desk, the cook at the Bistro, the administrative staff, all the CNAs, RNs, and the nuns. All of you were kind and supportive during this difficult time and we were blessed to have you by our side. read more

I have my mother at the Kahl Home, and after a year I am still very pleased with the care she receives and the communication between the staff and myself. She has dementia and originally wouldn't leave her room and constantly complained that she wanted to go home. That was not an option. The staff was patient and gentle with her and though her dementia progresses, I feel that they really love her. She suffers from Aphasia and has very few words, only being able to answer yes and no questions with little to add. They continue to engage her, offering to take her to the social events (which she actually sometimes takes part in, much to my surprise). If I am unlucky enough to get Alzheimer's and my family can no longer care for me, I hope they can find me a room there. Alzheimer's sucks for everyone involved. At least my family has the peace of mind that she is where she needs to be and is cared for better than I could ever manage. They are truly a blessing. read more

This place looks great, smells great, and (for some unknown reason) has great reviews. I promise you, however, that the reality of the place is not great. I have seen little to no competence in the nursing staff (yes, I have a medical background), the office staff or therapy staff. They parked my father in a wheelchair, which he has never used, and refused him therapy because the therapy staff couldn't figure out how to take his pulse due to his arrhythmia. They actually sent him to the ER when there was absolutely nothing wrong with him. The ED doctor literally said "I have no idea why he is here." On top of that, by discharging him from therapy due to their own incompetence, they are guaranteeing that Medicare won't pay for the therapy he needs for 60 more days. I wouldn't board my dog here. read more

My grandmother entered the Kahl Home last week to live out her last few days. I was impressed with the Kahl Home's attentiveness and responsiveness not only to my grandma's needs but to my families needs as well. It made the situation we faced a tad more bearable knowing we were in good hands. I would highly recommend this facility. read more

I am extremely disappointed! My boyfriend applied for a dietary aid position and got an interview at 1:30 p.m. today and was there waiting for someone to give him his interview for over 20 minutes. Then he receives and email saying that they have filled the position while he is waiting for his interview!! They didn't even come out and explain to him that this position was already filled. Didn't even have the guts to say it to his face!! This is so unproffesional. He lives in Moline and wasted his gas for this interview and they didn't even apologize for waisting his time or gas!! This is extremely disgusting!! I guess it was a blessing in disguise because this company is obviously not a nice company to work for!!! read more

My mother is at the Kahl Home and would stay in her room if it weren't for the staff encouraging her to participate in activities. Once she is joining in she is happy to be doing so. Staff has always been pleasant and cooperative and mom appears well taken care of. Her room is a nice size which allowed her to bring in some of her own furniture. The only complaint is that they have misplaced some clothing, but if I asked they would replace it. I figure doing as much laundry as they do daily I'm not going to give them grief. I wish I could give a zero. My mom went there in July for rehab after being in the hospital. First day, I found a used, dirty glove on her bed. Second day, they did not check on her overnight, she was on a diuretic, and they left her in a wet bed all night. She had a wound on her elbow from laying in her own pee. (her call button DID NOT WORK and they made it sound as it that was just a normal thing - for $228 a day!) I called the director to complain - NO RESPONSE! She was walking with her walker without aid on Saturday, June 30. On July 4, she needed the belt to get in and out of bed. I called the director and left a message. NO RESPONSE! I called the social worker on Friday as she was worse. She was jerking. Found out, once I convinced them to have a nurse practitioner looked at her, that she had pneumonia. By the time she got to the hospital, her Co2 was 82! Normal is in the 20's! They just thought she tired from PT. They are horrible. She died in the hospital July 9. I wouldn't send my worst enemy to the Kahl. They have no training. read more
