This review applies to calling here to make an appointment. This review does not apply to the staff that treat patients or the physical facility. Navigating the automated phone system menus always takes a lot of time. The system is worse than most other automated phone systems I have experienced: banks, hotels, airlines, etc. It is almost as if Kaiser Permanente designed the phone system to discourage its patients from being able to make appointments. Actually, why wouldn't Kaiser design a system to discourage patients from seeing a doctor? Kaiser still gets paid insurance premiums while patients are discouraged from making an appointment that Kaiser would have to pay for. I realize doctors' time is not cheap, but discouraging people from seeking medical attention is unethical. If Kaiser wanted to discourage people from making appointments, it could raise copays or insurance premiums instead of making their phone systems so bad. But then again, Kaiser compares its rates to its competitors. I wonder if competitors, who charge the same insurance premiums and copays, have as bad phone systems? read more

I didnt want to come to Kaiser Emergency because of the wait time, my daughter has pain in her lower back, the nurse at the front said, the wait not long about 45 mins, they will do an XRay to see if anything is broken...So we waited and he was exactly right, we didn't wait long to be checked in the back. We waited in the exam room, the Nurse was very nice, asked my daughter questions and gave my daughter answers to things that she wanted to know. My daughter got the X-ray done. The X-ray tech was very nice too. Now thats reason for 3 stars.... but I prefer to give no stars for the service I received from the doctor. He started off nice in the beginning before my daughter got the XRay. After my daughter got the XRay and the doctor came in the exam room to go over the XRay with us. I asked him questions about her broken/fractured tail bone. He wasn't explaining the problem right for me to understand, really he did... I told him now you are explaining the problem good, Thank you. But when he was talking to me, he was looking at me like I'm crazy, he definitely seem to be in a bad mood when he came back into the exam room. Need to keep your personal business to yourself not show it in your action and behavior. I am a customer, my daughter was the patient, you never ever treat someone with bad service. If I ever have to come to Kaiser Emergency again I would definitely NOT have you as my Dr, this is the #1 reason why I want to change my health insurance from Kaiser because of Doctors like you, not being patient and just come to work for a pay check.... Dr. Dennis Espitia, you need to work on your people skills, you definitely need patience, and you don't seem to have that. Looking at me like I'm irritating you when I ask you questions about my daughter's condition. read more

This review is for the Lactation Center directly! I love Baldwin Park Kaiser but not the lactation center. My experience was horrible! I called them for help with latching my baby and they were like " we can help you with that, let's make you an appointment. " So today was my appointment at 2:30pm I was literally there for probably less than 10 minuets. They were not helpful whatsoever. My baby didn't latch so and she was like okay just keep trying at home. Lady I did not just drive all the way to Baldwin Park from Fontana so you can tell me keep trying at home you could have told me that over the phone! I have a toddler so i had to have someone watch her while I went to my appointment that is why I had to make my appointment at Baldwin Park because my parent live really close to BP Kaiser. But oh boy what a waste of gas and my time! The point of the appointment was to get my baby to latch and they didn't help! Never never going back! read more

Very disappointed in the emergancy room I came here with high fever and dizziness was see. Right away but put me in a room for hours while the nurse are just laughing it up like if they dont have patients to see I sat there for hours while no one came 2 check my vitals and just tell me I'm fine but as I'm sitting here at home writing this review my fever at 104.7 that doesnt seem fine to me .I'm disappointed because you get into this carrier to help people and instead I feel like they just took my money when I got discharged I paid 240 dollars for nothing I wouldn't mind paying it if my nurses actually paid attention to me instead of talking read more

It's a shame how pathetic this hospital has become. When it opened and for about 10 years it was very good,but gradually it has become overcrowded,understaffed and dirty. Went to the emergency and had to wait 4 hours to be seen,then once inside service was chaotic and very unorganized. You think you were at USC County Hospital. Worst emergency unit ever. If you can go to Ontario Kaiser emergency,way better !!! read more

This place is HORRIBLE. ER nurses are the worst, totally disrespectful to my 80 year old grandmother who came in with a back fracture and her nurse could care less tossing and turning her like she was 18 with no fracture. She shrieked in pain telling him he was hurting her back and to stop moving her, he continued and not only did he continue he flat out ignored my grandmothers request to stop all because he wanted to get her diaper change (pee only) done with. Waited 14 hours for a room after the doctors (who are AMAZING by the way) admitted her. Since the nurses couldn't give a promising time we asked politely if they could keep it down because their loud laughter and gossip was keeping my grandmother from sleeping. They persisted to laugh in our face almost what felt like in spite of our request to just gossip and laugh in a quieter manner since that seemed to be all they were doing. All in all, nursing staff in ER was a nightmare, hoping to never have to return here and will avoid at all cost. Rather drive an hour away to Irvine Sand Canyon Kaiser where staff is super supportive, nice and respectful! read more

My doctor is great but the lab???? They lie about the wait. They'd tell you it's a 30 minute wait. We have been here for more than 2 hours!!!! They could've warned us at least that there's a strike going on!!! Kaiser does not pay us for waiting and losing time at work! We pay them a chunk from our paychecks plus the deductible! For a big hospital they only have one or two technicians!!! They could have been considerate enough to tell us the truth on how much time we should wait. But more than 2, 3 hours??? read more

This review is long over due. This is specifically for one family MD Dr Paul. He cared for both my mom & dad for many years. My parents "Jacksons" lived in Glendora. My dad passed 3 years ago and I had to relocate my mom closer to me in San Diego. My mom still misses Dr.Paul. He was kind, gentle, listened, excellent medical care. I wish more drs. couldhave the caring and compassion that this physician had. I would Highly recommend him to anyone looking for a quality dr. with values. read more

Plan to be in pediatric urgent care forever if you didn't make an appointment. It's crazy ridiculous how long the wait is for urgent care when there is hardly any patients at all. My son is so crazy sick literally coughing every 30 seconds to a minute. No status update no care or concern. When u finally do get called in, youre waiting on a Dr for almost as long. And the doctors rush throw the time with your child. Can't believe how horrible the service is here. Nurse irritated because we are irritated. read more

None of the doctors give pre-operative instructions to the patients. When this was brought up to the lady in the GI department, she basically called me a liar and said that they do instruct the patients. One gentleman came in and she coded him for not fully understanding when to drink the colyte drink. read more

had an appt at cardiologist today for a stress test came 1 hour early end up walking out... i approached the desk bec im waiting 20 mins pass my appt and they told me to wait additional 20mins. why overbook when staff cannot handle it... specially during covid time and the waiting room is crowded.. for sure that additional 20 mins is not 20 mins it maybe longer than that grrrr..... read more

I delivered my daughter at Kaiser BP in July of 2016 and I had a really good experience there. I have never been hospitalized before and was super scared of the whole labor and delivery process. All of the RNs (Leona, Christine, Nancylan, and my absolute favorite: Felicidad 'Feli' Tang) and Midwives (Diane and Christine McKeon) that I encountered during my stay were all great. They were all very encouraging and helpful. I always felt comfortable asking for help or asking questions. Thankfully they were all very responsive whenever I had to press the call light. BP is a baby friendly hospital (promotes skin to skin contact and breastfeeding) as well. I was able to see a lactation consultant before discharge and she ordered a rental pump for me that was delivered before I was discharged. I also have to give kudos to the kitchen staff. The food I ordered was very tasty and delivered hot and on time. The weekly Breastfeeding/Mother's Support Group on Wednesdays from 11-12:30 is also great. Because of the amazing and encouraging lactation consultants (Tami A., and Denise), I was able to successfully breastfeed and still continue to breastfeed. The group has been such an integral part of my breastfeeding success and recovery. Everyone is very supportive and you get to meet other new mommies :) Parking can be bad at certain times of the day (especially between 10:30 and 11am for some reason), but at least it's free. read more

The ER at this Kaiser is disgusting. I took my mom in and the room they put her in was extremely unsanitary. There was blood spots on the floor surrounding the bed, trash overflowing with personal products of other patients, dirty sheets on the bed (stained), and is smelled awful. There was only one restroom available for the patients in the ER to use, my mom was left waiting in pain for the other patients to use it, when it was finally her turn, you can guess it. The restroom wasn't any cleaner as well as didn't even have toilet paper. read more

HORRIBLE PARKING...doctors and staff are great. . But I've been coming here for decades and parking has always been horrible. Easy to get appointments but I avoid this kaiser as much as possible because of the dang parking situation - and forget coming on the day the street sweeper goes around! Now I go to the Diamond Bar kaiser as much as possible and only come here if my family or I need something that the Diamond Bar facility can't offer. read more

I have never had a bad visit at this hospital before, in fact, i was born at a kaiser and when my pediatrician moved to this location my mom switched my care to this one instead. But when I turned 18 in June I had to switch doctors, obviously, because I wasn't a child anymore. I hardly go to the hospital anyway so I hadn't picked a doctor yet when I had to go to the hospital a few days ago and let me tell you, I had a horrible experience. I had been sick for the past month with the flu and my throat felt so swollen, as if I was swallowing rocks everytime I tried to swallow. I had ear pain, jaw pain and excruciating headaches and I was so congested I couldn't breathe. I had to miss work (without sick pay) because it was so bad and I finally relented and went to the doctor hoping for antibiotics that would at least appease my symptoms. That didn't happen. I paid the $20 copay and then waited for 2 hours, at first I sat in the waiting room but then I had to sit outside because I was coughing so hard I was afraid I would throw up. When they called me in, the nurse that saw me was sick and she wasn't even listening to me and gave me an attitude but I gave her the benefit of the doubt because I hate my job when I'm sick too. Then I waited to see the doctor. When he came in he was an older man and his name was Dr. Erscher (sp?) he looked at my throat and in my ears and then stabbed my throat to test for strep. No one apparently listened to me that my throat was only hurting when I swallowed and it wasn't like a sore throat. I told him all of my symptoms and he told me that it happens when you do a nasal drip. I've never even done a nasal drip. He didn't listen to my breathing or feel my lymphnodes. Then he told me that he wasn't going to prescribe me antibiotics because I didn't want to take unnecessary antibiotics and that I was negative for strep. The part that pissed me off was that he then told me to BUY THROAT LOZENGES. I PAID $20 AND WAITED 2 HOURS TO GET TOLD TO BUY $2 COUGH DROPS. why. This was the worst experience ever and now I'm still sick and have to go to work so that I can pay my bills. The one star is for all the good experiences I've had. This guy shouldn't be practicing medicine if he can't even do a routine check up procedure. read more

This review is for the KP Lab. I've been a member of Kaiser as long as I can remember. In all these years, I'm making my first comment about the KP Baldwin Park lab because of its extraordinary service. My husband's nurse was supposed to order Triglycerides and complete lipid panel. Because of that, my husband was fasting for 12 hours. When we got to the lab, we were told that the nurse never ordered that. We were both hungry, frustrated and my kid was crying. Thats when Lisa Giarraputo (director of the lab) stepped in. She assured me that she will take care of everything. She explained to the lab technician that the triglycerides can be taken in the same tube as the other one (she really knew her stuff). She took my husband's doctor ph#, cleared the miscommunication and we got everything we asked for. That's going above and beyond. She was the director and she made herself available to us, saved us a second trip and another day of fasting. Her staff are very well trained. I'm sure its not easy to deal with grumpy hungry people who've been fasting for 12 hours, kids or people who're afraid of needles. Way to go Lisa and her team read more

My wife and I have been covered by Kaiser since 2001 and we both feel they are an excellent provider of health care. Initially we were hesitant because of the bad reputation HMO's had, and the feeling that our freedom of choice like we had under our prior plans would not be available. It's true your providers are limited to the doctors within Kaiser as opposed to say, doctors who are part of the Blue Cross network but we don't miss that at all. I'd choose Kaiser any day of the week. Everything is so convenient here. If you need to go to the lab or pharmacy or see a specialist, everything is in one location and you don't have to go driving all over the place or wait for authorization from the insurance company and deal with a whole lot of red tape like you do with other plans. I like how Kaiser is constantly striving to improve its operations and make all its processes more efficient. Sure, sometimes it is crowded and wait times are long but that's the luck of the draw and I understand you have to balance your budget and resources to match the demands which means sometimes patients will have to be inconvenienced. Overall, though, I think they do a great job and like I said, they're always trying to improve what they do. As far as the physicians and the staff, we've had excellent experiences. There's always some bad apples in the bunch no matter where you go but overall my wife and I are very satisfied with the level of care we have received. Our physicians seem to genuinely care about us. We wouldn't think of switching health care providers. Kaiser ought to be a model for how to conduct health care, and teach the sorry, sad mess that is Obamacare a thing or two or three. read more

Horrible ER experience in this location......no doctors, most of the time u just need to wait and wait and wait and wait......

My wife was having severe pains related to her contractions, so we called the labor and delivery number to find out if we should come in, as we weren't 100% sure that she was in labor. The nurse that spoke to my wife kept implying that my wife was not in labor because "there is no way you can talk on the phone if you're having contractions and it doesn't sound like you're in pain." They were so rude that my wife did not want to go in even though she was in severe pain. About 5 minutes after we finished the call, my wife starts crying in pain and I made the decision to force her to go in to Kaiser. We arrived to labor and delivery, and one hour later, my daughter was born. Had we taken the advice of the nurse that spoke with us and stayed home, my daughter would have been born in our home unexpectedly. They try very hard to avoid having patients come in. It's almost as if they don't believe anything that pregnant women tell them. The midwives are extremely rude and this is our second experience at this Hospital's labor and delivery. Who ever is triaging over the phone needs to get counseled. There is no reason why they should be so rude, and especially to women who need help in such an important time of their life. Thank god we didn't get intimidated by the nurse over the phone, or our daughter's health could have been at risk. read more

This is my first time here as a Kaiser Member. The location was easy to find. Directory was everywhere to locate the Pharmacy, Lab, Pediatric Department and Family Specialist. I thought it was going to be a long wait because of the number of people waiting in the waiting room but I called in within 5 min met up the doctor and got my medicine. I don't know what happened to this place but the restrooms have been DISGUSTING the last few visits. This is a hospital!! The restrooms should not be in this condition!! Urine on the floor (wet and dry) and toilet seats, toilet seat covers on the floors etc. Brought this to the receptionists attention and gave me a look like ok, what do you want me to do about it!?!? This is for the whole hospital as a whole. My sister had a baby there last week. I'm guessing while in labor someone broke into her truck and tried to take it. They failed to do so but in the process took a bag full of her and her husbands belongings. They parked in the parking structure on the second floor. No one helped fix the issue and when trying to file a police report the security guards ( who are only there during the day) told them it was pointless to file one. They need overnight security in the parking areas. We have found out that they constantly break into cars there. This is something the hospital has to look into and invest into paying for more security. If you want some advice I wouldn't park in the parking structures or even leave my car there overnight. Might end up gone or broken into. read more

This Kaiser facility is amazing! The architecture of the building looks futuristic and it is undoubtedly huge. Every staff I met was nice and friendly. One nice thing to know, the X-ray/Imaging department opens 7 days a week, from 8am to 10pm. So if you need your image taken and do not want to wait in line on the day of your visit, you can always come back as a walk-in. Of course, other great things about all Kaiser facilities include having the testing/pharmacy departments in the same building. You can get all your exams and prescriptions done in one visit. I am so happy that I am a Kaiser member! read more

Best hospital in west coast and I have been to CCF in the mid west, I can say this hospital is comparably same level of those hospitals. I went there last night for an emergency and the experience was very good! I would recommend those who never been to this hospital try it out. read more

Here is a letter I just wrote to Kaiser. Regarding the Kaiser Baldwin Park 24 hour pharmacy.I needed to get a hold over on my trazadone, which I need to sleep at night. The pharmacist denied giving me 2 pills I needed until I could contact my doctor for the refill on Monday. The pharmacist Abner Saldino was remarkably rude, and showed lack of empathy and concern for his patients. He told me that giving out medication that was not essential was at his discretion. I told him that this medicine is essential as I take it every day. He referred me to the emergency room, and told me that he deals with people who want medicine without prescriptions all the time and it was nothing new. If he only understood what his patients have to deal with when they have to go without medicine for a night. The practice of medicine should not take place in an emergency room! I will not be seen by my doctor until May 27!Kaiser has declined so much in the past few years. I fear for my future health, and for the health of my unborn child. read more

I used to love Kaiser hospital. But now it seems like they are stingy with their medicine . I was prescribed like 3 medicines. They give me a generic version of my pro air(idk why that's the first time) then they don't give me my sudafed that the doctor prescribed. I was told to go to the store to buy it, even though its covered in my insurance. and didn't even acknowledge the fact I need the vials for the machine. What happened to them. They used to care a lot more and tend to their patients more. read more

So, I am sitting here in the ER waiting for over 2 hours now for my Son to be seen by the Doctor. My son is 7 years old & has severe stomach pain. The wait here is RIDICULOUS! & for what? Just for them to send him home yet again knowing that he's vomiting and losing weight?! This is BS!! Had a wonderful birthing experience. I would like to thank my nurses especially my nurse Clarieza. She was very attentive and helpful. I noticed that she always include my husband in the conversation. She make sure we are both engage and my husband and I really appreciate that.
