Simone Deshield is an amesome doctor. I finally saw her and she was awesome. She took care of my every need. My regular Dr. went on maternity leave And decided not to return. I was nervous and disappointed. I'm happy she's spending time with her child. She was just a great Dr. Dr. Simone is African American she looks like she's 17 years old. She was very thorough! She answered every question I asked. Even though I was super late. She didn't rush me! She was very respectful. I'm having my daughter and mother switch over to her. If she has openings. read more

I have had Kaiser since the 1970's. Overall , I love the care that I consistently receive. The advice nurse service is excellent. All of the care that I need is in one location, from doctors, specialists, surgeons, pharmacies, physical therapy, eyeglasses and more. I especially appreciate the careful oversight of of all providers. I recommend them highly. read more

Brought my dad here today due to bloody nose. Got lucky with an appointment with his primary who then told us to go to the ER. We arrived on the campus at 1049am and it is now almost 9pm. Waiting for a room for admission. I seriously don't understand. And, no food or water anywhere. I left the room in ER to fill my water bottle and was hassled by the security guard. Said if I leave the room one more time, I won't be allowed back in. I have my vaccinations and am tending to my 90 year old father. Where is the compassion? Just doing their job I know. My dad's primary is lovely. I expected him to do more than refer him to the ER. Dad is so cranky. BTW, hasn't eaten since 8am this morning. They won't even give him water. He nearly fainted while we were waiting in the first exam room. Most of the staff is nice but nurse Christopher could have tried to connect a bit more. I don't find the Covid cleanliness to be that good. No one cleaning the ER waiting room, no wipes, they don't offer you a new mask, not a lot of hand sanitizer stations. Have to use a bottom on the table. Yeah, is this because it's Oakland? I would hope that all of the hospitals are consistent in their safety protocols. As much as I like that Kaiser is an intact system, this wait time thing reaffirms why I haven't been with Kaiser since school. read more

Kaiser has outdated information, rude employees and an incompetent staff. We weren't even able to find a person who knew where to send us to get a Covid booster. That's ridiculous and then the employees acted as if it were our fault that they don't know their own facilities. Terrible! And the black girl who works up front at your 380 McArthur location in Oakland is the rudest person I've dealt with at a hospital ever in my life! read more

For years, with all of my air travel, my ear developed a problem. Like my ear would not "pop" from the cabin pressure, even after the plane landed. It's called "airplane ear." They canceled and rescheduled my appt without my consent and when I arrived to new appt, they weren't able to take me, after a long drive in traffic from fremont and paying the meter for nothing. But thanks to Nene, I still left with a smile. She went above and beyond trying to make phone calls and she even left her seat to ask people on the other floor if they can take me. Though they couldn't, it was the fact that she really tried to get me in. I appreciate her. Thank you. I would give the place a 1 star but because of her I had to give it a couple more. read more

I am here with 4 other patients that were all told to be here 20min before our appointments to fill out paperwork. The office door is locked and there is clearly some sort of festivities going on in the office. They ignore our knocks until 20min have gone by and it is now time for our appointments and they just opened the door to inform us they wont let us in until 1:30...we were supposed to be filling out paperwork 30min AGO! They're inconsiderate and don't care about our time. 2 patient's meters are going to expire and possibly result in tickets, I am missing a day of work for this service....this is why I haven't been to see a doctor in years. KAISER YOU DON'T HELP PEOPLE THRIVE. This specific office was room G40 on the ground floor. Very very disappointed. read more

The mental health services for adolescents is impossible to get into and I had to make the choice to pay $700/ month to pay privately for care. I'm lucky to be able to afford that, but it makes me so angry to have to do that because I supposedly have a really good Kaiser plan. I work for Kaiser, but would NEVER recommend the insurance for anyone who might need to get mental health services. You'll be out thousands of dollars a year (I'm looking at almost 10K) if you can afford to go outside. If you can't go outside you'll be in an impossible position. It's truly appalling. read more

I was a Kaiser baby, so when later on when I moved back home, they asked about pre-existing conditions, I answered truthfully. I had one and needed help. They rejected me. Thanks to Obama, I got the coverage I needed elsewhere. Now they are begging me to reconsider AND threatening me: "Time may be running out... choose bettet coverage brfore it"s too late." First time visiting this location and I am so happy I have found such a great Kaiser so much closer to my home! I have been with Kaiser for 2 years and have visited Napa, Walnut Creek and San Ramon campuses switching doctors constantly because I couldn't find one that I liked. Well that all changed today when I visited the Oakland location. I found a new doctor that I absolutely love! She really took the time to listen to me and my concerns and didn't treat me like a number as the others have at other locations in the past. There is plenty of metered street parking but also a cheap parking garage, roughly $1 per every 30 minutes. It's a clean campus, very easy to find everything and there is a pharmacy on location which makes it very easy to pick up any meds you might need. I had to wait in a very long line to pick up my prescription but it did move fast and the cashiers do not take kindly to people who try to cut in line or act like they are disabled when they are not. There was a woman trying to cut the line and pretend she was disabled and the cashier called her out in front of the entire room and told her to get to the back of the line or go to another pharmacy. The woman ended up embarrassed and left and I was secretly saying to myself "You go girl!!!" to the cashier and I could tell everyone else in line appreciated it too. It really goes to show these employees really do care about the patients and think of us as more than just a herd of cattle they are getting through one by one. read more

I am shocked that this once very efficient administration could now be so terrible. The IT Department- probably one of the highest paid and highly skilled technology departments in the Bay Area could now be an inefficient mess. They screwed up my membership and made my life a living hell for 7 months. I realized today it is now their corporate culture for no one to ever take responsibility for anything. Today I ordered a prescription and waited for a loooooong time. I finally got up to ask - and found it is out of stock and won't be in til Friday. I did not really like my experience here and will avoid coming back, if possible. I had a minor issue I wanted consultation on, and I needed a refill. I was called 20 minutes after my appt time. When I got into the exam room, the medical asst started talking about a pap. I did not request one nor was I prepared to have one. She didn't like the push back and said "[they would] get dinged" if I didn't do it; she said "not to bother" changing because the doctor wouldn't look at me if I wasn't going to do the pap. I don't know about you, but I have never had a medical professional say anything like that to me before. People already feel vulnerable and nervous at a medical appointment, so to guilt them, or make them feel pressured feels harmful and unethical. I told the doctor and her response was, "she really doesn't want you to get cervical cancer!" I see what she was doing there, but that felt invalidating. She left the room, then came back with the same medical assistant for "emotional support." Emotional support for whom? I've had other providers come into appointments before, but I was always asked first. Really didn't like that whole experience. read more

i had to come to the oakland location since the walnut creek location didn't have the shots i needed for travel. my appointment was at 1:40 on a Friday afternoon. i arrived early at 1:15 to check in and have been waiting for over a half an hour to get my shots. apparently the nurses go on a lunch break until 1:30, but either way they should be back in time for a 1:40 appointment. very frustrating read more

Kaiser doesn't deliver medical care; they deliver a protocol that has little to do with a patient's actual needs. While my doctor is friendly, she is mainly at a computer when I am in the room with her. She never recommends tests when I complain about a persistent problem; she merely states, "Oh that is too bad." While I appreciate the one-stop shop convenience of Kaiser, I don't feel that I am receiving real medical care. read more
