Nice campground. Busy but quiet. Owners were really nice. The rental camper was clean and seemed to be well cared for. Close to EAA AirVenture but far enough to be away from the craziness. Would absolutely stay here again. read more

The kcal us campground I'd a serene place, when things are calm that is. The owners are down to earth, and it is a real nice location here. With that being said, this is a busy place with lots of families and kids, so it stays a little noisy.. The bathrooms are as clean as can be for a busy place. Showers are good too, except having to pay in quarters to take one. That is a new experience for me, and trust me I do understand.. It's my second time here and I will be back for sure! What a great spot if you are tenting it.. You have the lake as your window view, awesome!! If you are into fishing, this is a great place for it. They have a cleaning station for the fish, and a boat dock that charges $5 for it. And if you like to stargaze, it's also a place for you.. This is a dog friendly place, and must be leashed at all times. For those of you that don't know the rules about picking up after your dog by now, get a clue!!! I don't like stepping in crap. I pick up after mine.. It's is a nice place, don't get dogs banned from here cause out of laziness and selfishness.. Sorry to vent! read more

Kalbus Country Harbor - Camping on the lakeside - Campgrounds Near Me - Oshkosh, Wisconsin

I called Kalbus a week in advance to stay one night in Oshkosh (Dog Trial at the outstanding Oshkosh Kennel Club). I should have had a red flag when I told the person on the phone that I only wanted to stay Friday night when he kept responding that I'd want to stay Saturday as well. I confirmed for Friday night only. Friday came and we found that we were leaving home later than expected. I called to inform the campground of our late arrival. During this call I was told that they had a few flies around that don't bite. It was reported to me that they bother some people but not most. They had already taken payment for the night from my account. We arrived shortly before sunset. We could not find the block of sites where I'd been instructed to park our trailer. In the hopes that I map had been left for us, I walked up to the office door. No map was left or posted. I rang the bell. He did come to the door, even though he didn't have to as it was long after hours. We had a "but I already told you where to park, why don't you know" conversation. We had a "you are only staying one night when you reserved two" conversation (I had NEVER requested two nights). And then there were the Mayflies. To say they were swarms of Mayflies is an underestimate. Their presence was biblical in nature. Don't dare open your mouth, they will fly in. A briefly opened door would bring hundreds of them into our camper. It was only the fact that we had a vacuum cleaner that we were able to capture them inside our trailer so that we were able to sleep largely without them flying in our face. We will need to deeply clean our camper inside and out, to rid the camper of the plethora of Mayfly corpses that remain. One night in this Hades was enough. I cannot imagine paying for the privilege of two nights during what turns out to be a one to two week annual Mayfly event. They are there and then they are gone. The next morning I braved the Mayflies to walk our two dogs. My usually well behaved dogs saw something in the woods that they could not resist. Unfortunately they pulled away from me and I fell, landing on the pavement and injured myself. Initially my dogs refused to respond to my recall. We were able to get them back. But then my formally well groomed dog was now covered in black dust and a small amount of grime. I chose to walk to the office to request assistance in caring for my bleeding hand and for a hose to wash off my dog. The individual I had worked with the night before when asked for assistance just stood and stared at me with an angry look on his face. It was clear to me that my request for assistance was declined, even for first aid for my hand. He was clear that he did not approve that I had brought my dog to his office. The mayflies are only around a week or two each year. Apparently the man I interacted with is the owner. So, if you choose to camp there, he is there along with his attitude year round. On the plus side for this campground, it seems to have been designed for those who love to fish. The camp sites all have an incredible view of the lake. I believe that boats are available for rental. From inside my trailer I had the privilege of seeing several American White Penguins. A Baltimore Oriole landed on our picnic table and spent several minutes there. The setting (when Mayfly-free) could be magical. Unfortunately, our experience with this campground was not. If you choose to camp there, be prepared to be very independent. Be prepared to be told something only once. Be prepared to experience attitude. If owner had been more helpful it is likely that we would have camped there again, to explore more of the lake and to go to more trials at the Oshkosh Kennel Club. Next time we camp in Oshkosh, we'll be camping elsewhere. read more

Was here for three months this summer. Jerry is a great guy, looked out for me, and took care of things. Place was very clean and well run. Was always quiet except for holiday weekends with the fireworks for a couple of hours after dark. I had an enjoyable time here. read more

The description of the camp sites was very deceiving. It says all sites have Lake view--very NOT true. We had a view of a stagnant pond with mosquitoes that threatened to cart us away. Also, full hookup here means no sewer hookup. Plus the RV dump station was inaccessible for large RVs. Campground is more suited for tents and pop ups. They also don't keep quiet hours. We had folks next to us partying until 2 a.m. We will not be back and I'd advise to roll on by and find a better spot. read more

We read online that this was a great place. It might be and I will never know because the fat, obnoxious and rude person at the front desk, made me decide not to stay. The place was very confusing and there weren't signs telling you where to go and the office is PAST the campground. And to check in you have to park your rig blocking the road. To get back to the campground after checking in you have to drive 1-1/2 miles around the road. When I asked how to turn around, this jerk rolls his eyes and says ' Didn't you see the campground?' I said 'no I was looking for the office'. He says, 'This is the office' and I said 'yes I know that is why I am here. I also told him we have never been there before so didn't know which campground we were supposed to park in or what our site was yet'. This jerk rolls his eyes again and shrugs. He wasn't exactly 'Mr. Charming" for sure. How the heck does someone with no personal people skills get a job like this? Does he own the place? If so, he will lose a lot of paying customers with his lack of compassion and empathy for a weary traveler that only wants to find their spot and rest! If you decide to go here, you may want to ask directions before you arrive and block the main road like I suspect any new person unfamiliar with this campground in Wisconsin will do because the office doesn't have a driveway to turn around in. With any luck maybe someone else will be on duty and you won't have to deal with Mr. Charming. read more

On the website it said its a $5 reservation fee. I had to cancel they charged me $50. When i booked i asked if the electric site had water. He said well that's what elecric comes with he was rude about it. I'm new to camping so i didn't know that. I will never stay there. read more

I called two days in advance to reserve a campsite for two nights he charges my card 50 dollars. I go in the office and meet a very large unfriendly man. He tells me I owe another 70 dollars. 120 for 2 nights! This is the most expensive campgrounds I have stayed at. Well this guy is 5 dollar crazy. He said we could launch our boat and dock by our campsite. But he charges me 5 dollars a day to launch it. I only launched it one time into a stagnant canal that leads out into the lake Then he also charged me a 5 dollar reservation fee. I have never heard of a reservation fee? Then he got angry with me for asking why the reservation fee. This guy had a strange behavior. I did not like him. The campsites are very close together and on that stagnant canal. Shade trees are sparse. It was nasty. We left early only stayed one of the two nights. Find another campgrounds..do not pick this one. read more
