Lesson, if you want full use of your space, arrive to camp early and not the day before as the majority are already there.. not enough for us to get upset, it was cozy in our cove and actually felt exposed when we stayed through Sunday and most of our neighbors left earlier.. Added a few photos from this year. We used the laundry this year, either bring LOTS of quarters or you can download an app and pay. It was nice using the app to see when your laundry was finished so you didn't have to stay and wait as there's always someone waiting to use a machine. The app tells you when they are open too. We will be back again next year!

That breaks a cardinal rule, there, I was told, demanding someone else's spot. I refused to give her my spot. Then, management insisted I give up my spot, because there was some other rule I had broken, that I wasn't aware of. I was forced off. I was considered fine until that lady demanded my spot so she could be near her friends. I'm a hated minority, have experienced prejudices deep within AirVenture, so it hurt even more. Again: My Camping in that spot was considered fine until that core person wanted my spot so she could be beside her friends. My spot wasn't obscure, off in the distance; it was in the open, central, beside the Fly-In theater.

We stopped here for just one…read morenight on our way up to Door County. we weren't looking for anything spectacular just a place to sleep for the night. It was a little chilly and spitting rain, but we took a quick walk to take a look at the park. The area upfront seemed to have mostly long-term people in them and had full hook ups. It looked like quite a few people were here for the season as there were potted plants and such. We were able to get a pull through site, number 40 that had full hook ups. They do have trees so most of the sites were shaded in this particular area of the park. The backfield appears to be mostly back in spots and was just about empty. These sites look like they are sewer and water only so I'm assuming they are some sort of overflow for all the airshows and events that happened in Oshkosh. The front building is actually a bar. I'm not sure if they serve food, maybe, but you go there to check in. The bar looks like fun, but as it was raining, we did not visit that evening. I will say that the public buildings, while we did not use them as we are completely self-contained, honestly looked a little scary. There's literally insulation viewable from the outside, a bucket sitting outside the door, just didn't look like anything we would want to use. They did have some kids stuff, including a bounce pad and there seemed to be a few children enjoying the park. Everything worked fine at our site, we did pay $75 a night, which is quite pricey for what this park is. The manager was very nice, we did not have any issues at all as far as people being Kind.

The event is a week long, but you can come for a day or a weekend (I came for a weekend). Airshows are on display every day and even twice a day. There is a night airshow on Saturday with a phenomenal fireworks display and everything from military airplanes to homebuilts. NASA had a great exhibit this year as well and had an engaging area that my wife and I really enjoyed visiting. The logistics were good and there were even showers for campers. The only thing was the food was still pretty crappy so if you're not bringing your own food - there are only one or two decent options (the smoked chicken wings were pretty good!), but otherwise be prepared to survive on overpriced and not so great meals. Even if you're not a pilot, AirVenture is a blast to come and see.

Years ago, it was so good it was nearly spiritual, a place that worshipped flight--lifting people and our souls high into the air, between the earth and heaven, with every kind of home built design you could imagine, and many you couldn't. It celebrated imagination, design creativity, hence the name "Experimental Aircraft Association." But in recent years, celebrating individuality and creative design gave way to insults against persons and dead relatives, false allegations against people who are different, oustings, pretending that hated persons aren't even there, extreme ghosting where the hated aren't even acknowledged as there. All these things happened to me. I have flown all my life, have the highest certificates, never scratched a plane, but I'm made out to be a "sinner," a decadent, incompetent, whose marriage couldn't have been real. This place has become cruel. I begged management to stand up for equality, for respect of others even if different, and they did nothing, let the hate endure. I'm disgusted and terribly hurt. I know my husband would be, too, if still alive.
