I had lost a nose ring and was too lazy to go buy a new one for a few weeks. I'm sorta new to town but I drive by kaleidoscope every day on my way to work, so I figured I'd pop in one day on my way home. I walked in and was immediately distracted by all the fun novelty stuff, as well as how clean and organized the store was. I wandered over to the piercing counter and was promptly helped. I always get the same jewelry so I can't speak to how great the selection is, but they had exactly what I wanted and for cheaper than usual. Since my piercing had been out for a while, the girl at the counter recommended that I have the piercer insert it for me, so I roamed around and tried to talk myself out of buying yet another purse with skulls on it while I wait. A few minutes later, I was called back to the piercing room which was clean and everything the piercer did was hygienic. I was in, out and on my way in just a few minutes. Was everyone so friendly that they wanted to stick around and chat? No, but they were as helpful as I needed them to be and would absolutely recommend this shop to anyone looking for a piercing or a unique gift. read more

I got my ears pierced here back in April and my ears have been irritated ever since. I have to get one ear re-pierced at a better location due to their lack of competence at the front (the people who sell the jewelry). Surgical steel is what they sell, and unfortunately, that type of material contains nickel. TRACE AMOUNTS. That's what they argued. My ear is full of scar tissue. So.... Money wasted. Thanks guys! I have gotten several piercings here in the 9 years I've lived in Springfield. They've always been super sweet and friendly, and very clean. Sterilization and aftercare instructions have been given to me every time, even though I have close to 20 piercings. Last year I brought my daughter to get her ears pierced for her 8th birthday. They talked to her to make sure SHE wanted it done, they let her know what the entire process would be both beforehand as well as step by step while piercing. They talked her through it, and made my shy introvert child feel very safe and at ease with the whole process. Who cares if maybe pricing is a little more? You get what you pay for. read more

Took my wife here the staff at the piercing area wasn't very customer friendly after the hour wait they said they couldn't do the piercing she picked out after the piercer said that the ones she wanted would work, and then they used the wrong piercing so now my wife is stuck with piercing she doesn't like and that she can't change for 4-6 months. I recently came in and got my ear lobes pierced. This was my first set of piercings since coming out as a transgender woman. They are seriously the best and most loving people. They instantly referred to me as my name that I go by, and did not even blink about the change in my life. They are also extremely helpful with guest in picking out piercing options. I will be coming back more and more, not just because they are excellent at piercing, but because they are some great people. My previous experiences were great as well, this one added onto the already great vibes that Iv had. I love this store and all the staff are the best. Back in the late 90s/early 00s Kaleidoscope employed a piercer named Ryan, one of the hottest men ever to grace the Earth. I paid to have holes put in my navel, nipple and right ear cartilage just to have his beautiful, patchouli accented fingers touch me. Good old days. Since Ryan left and Kaleidoscope moved from the half-standing shack to the new place they have lost some of their edge. The old place had nag champa practically bleeding from the ceiling, walking up the rickety staircase to the piercing area and smoke shop meant taking your life in your hands, and the stereo system in the shack rocked, literally and figuratively. I'm sure they are still the best place in town for incense, 420 supplies, body jewelry, sex toys and racy pop-up cards featuring naked 500lb women eating birthday cake, but I'm afraid their true glory days are behind them. read more

You can simply visit the Kaleidoscope Facebook page and see that they offer super high quality jewelry and have an ENORMOUS selection. Their staff are knowledgeable and will bend over backwards or even do the hokey pokey to make customers happy. In addition to their huge jewelry selection, they also have a very large variety of products in their smoke shop and one of the more classy adult stores in town. Oh, and the clothes! I can't think of many places in town where I can fins a new dress, get pierced, purchase a pipe and purchase items for a bachelorette party all in the same place. And! I chose this location because of its photos. LOL... I was visiting family from California and wanted to get my ear pierced again. I came with my mom and husband LOL... which is a funny trio to bring into a place like this. I have to say, you CANNOT find a store from this type of industry in California that would make you feel so welcomed and at ease. We felt right at home as soon as we walked in the doors. Their merchandising looked amazing, all their staff were super nice and helpful and for such a small, easy piercing Shane was amazing and made me feel like I mattered. I don't think people understand just how important this is, I went into a piercing shop for a closed-up ear piercing, ONE ear! LOL... I probably got the cheapest thing you could get there and yet, he made me feel like I was important and worthy of his time. In 2020, this is a huge deal... coming from Orange County, CA this is a HUGE DEAL. I went in to potentially make an appointment for tomorrow... I showed the receptionist a picture of my cat's paw that I want tattooed on and asked if they had an artist with a flare for animals. She went. 10 feet away to the only artist thAt was there, showed him the picture and he pretty much said "no". Not "I'll try to sketch it out" or "maybe a different artist could do it". Just no. I first spoke with Ben and thought I'd be on my way, but after some explaining and dissecting the issue he had me go to the back to check it out. OK so I bought a very expensive water bong two days ago. I smoked out of it a couple times and I noticed water leaking from it. I never dropped it or hit it on anything at all and the clean separation of the glass is evidence of that. I called and spoke with Rick in the smoke shop. Needless to say he was a very rude man and absolutely refused any kind of return. I had to call back because he would not let me speak with the owner. Long story short. The owner was like 10 times worse as for his manners and being rude. He was so defensive after telling him what happened. It is so obvious that this is a common practice of theirs. They did offer a discount if I brought it back in on a new purchase but why would I buy again from them. Bad business and the owner is so arrogant and rude. read more

Kaleidoscope is a unique find native to Springfield since the 1970's. They have gifts, clothing, shoes, jewelry, and more adventurous finds in their adult boutique, Eros, next door. The staff is very professional- in a head shop sometimes I think that people forget that there are constant and ever changing rules these folks have to keep up with so they stick to them. The piercers are some of the best trained in the nation and the tattooers are great to boot. You have to see Ryan if you're getting a tattoo. The staff is nice and won't make you feel like you should turn around and run if it's your first tattoo, unlike a lot of shops in town. I've had 6 piercings done here, 4 by Ben, 2 by Eddie. Both guys are super nice and it's very clean. You can definitely go get piercings cheaper elsewhere but it's worth the extra $$ to ensure a good experience in a clean establishnent. They are very knowledgeable and willing to take time and answer questions. They are also willing to change out jewelry for no charge. Definitely a good place to go for piercings. read more
