The first part of the experience is a ride in an old-fashioned wooden train car with open sides to allow the scents of green meadows and cow manure to awaken the senses. Nice. But, then, we got off and walked aboard the double decker, convertible cable car and that's when the real adventure began! Steel cables and a pulley system glide the cable car up to a 7,000 (or thereabouts) elevation. At times during the ride, it felt like the car swooped over a hump causing everyone in the car to gasp and scream, not unlike being on a stand-up roller coaster. Meanwhile, the views were simply breathtaking. At the top, we were lucky enough to be the first group up so we had sweeping views of the mountains unfettered by crowds. This level has the a restaurant and gift shop, but if you go, do make the time to take the side trail or walk up to the top viewing platform for even more amazing views overlooking the lake region. You'll be rewarded for the effort!

Track, time, rail line etc. I found the station very clean and very friendly with a police presence that was willing to help if you had questions. The tourist information booth was in plain sight and provided lots of pamphlets, maps and recommendations for just about anything you need. I was amazed at how many trains were going to so many places around Europe. Again my first experience in a train station so I was a little bit in aww. lol With a nice selection of food court and retail shops you could use to kill some time if you were early for your connection. And a short walk to many traditional Swiss restaurants right on the Reuss river where it meets Lake Luzern. But be warned. Trains arrive and depart on time! So don't get distracted with the shops. Lol All in all a very quick but nice experience. I would definitely be ok with traveling by train again.

It's one of the most beautiful scenic boat rides we did. Europass eurial had discounts to this route. We did first class with more spacious decks than second. Overall, it doesn't matter. Must recommend this to spend 1 hour of ride when you are in luzern. The small neighborhoods in each stop are so beautiful to watch.

The schedules are posted at each pier. There is also a screen that has all the schedule for all piers. The gentleman in the information booth was very kind and helpful. He knew the schedule and which pier each ferry is departing from. While waiting for your boat, take the time to soak in the views, watch the birds, ducks and swans floating around. The ferries are on time. I took a roundtrip ferry to/ from Burgenstock. The views along the way were amazing.

The reviews on yelp are so off- just check trip advisor which I think happens to be more reliable in this case- and you will see this is the #2 hotel in Luzern! It is classy and fancy in an old-school way, and I enjoyed every minute of our stay here! From the moment we pulled up to the hotel, the valet was warm and inviting- helping us with our luggage, asking our names, and making himself at our disposal for whatever we needed. As we walked into the hotel up to the front desk, before I even uttered a hello, I was already being greeted by name!! The check in procedure by Vanessa was wonderful. We were upgraded without asking to a larger room on the first floor with our own private terrace. She walked us through the lobby and showed us the different areas there and then took us up to our room. The room was absolutely perfect! From the welcome note on the table with fruit, to the welcome on the TV, everything was perfect! The room was exceptionally clean and tidy and the views, well just look at the pictures and see for yourselves. As to the location, I thought it was perfect. You're only about a 5-10 min walk from the Old Town, yet far enough from the hordes of tourists that roam the streets with their selfie sticks. The tree lined promenade behind the hotel was our favorite to walk down. You had the perfect view of the lake, the Alps, and the city. This was definitely one of the best hotels we have stayed in in terms of service. Yes it is pricey, but you get what you pay for: an unmatched level of service and sophistication you won't find elsewhere.

My room is comfortable, modernly upgraded with a terrace looking out to the lake, perfect for the Swiss National Day firework event. We came here on a weekend for lunch. It was clear that they were pretty busy, but we like waiting, we cool with that. But aaaaare we?! Apparently not, or...not that long. We waited a reallllly looooong time. Our waiter was nice, but come on, he was serving 2 rooms, which is like, 15 tables? or something cray like that? So I don't think it was really his fault. I ordered the soup, and my husband ordered the spätzle, but I guess the waiter assumed we were sharing so he brought the soup first. So we waited a while and realised we better eat it before it get's cold. We didn't have an opportunity to ask him, because he was so busy. Then the spätzle came, which wasn't made properly because the potatoes were still crunchy. So it sort of became one of those lunches where you just feel sort of on edge because you don't really know what's going on and you feel bad for the waiter but you also want to know if your food is coming or if it was forgotten but then you don't want to ask because you don't want your waiter to have a nervous breakdown. That kind of lunch. And then you have to pay for it too. And it was a lot. The soup was good though!
