We decided to bring everyone to this place that I found on Yelp. We sat down and they took our drink order. Normally my husband and I prefer natural drinks over soda. (Orange juice, tea, lemonade). I heard someone order lemonade so when it was my turn I ordered the same and then my husband who was next to me ordered one as well. When the drinks arrive we both get soda: a Sprite. Then they explained to me that in UK there is no such thing as lemonade (fresh water, lemon juice, sugar) but Sprite, the soda has completely replaced the natural drink. I explained to the lady the confusion. Told her we were visiting UK and this was our first experience ever in a UK restaurant. Explained what lemonade was in the US and asked if she could exchange both our drinks to coke. If We were going to have a fountain drink we prefer coke and did not like sprite. She came back again with our Sprites explaining how they had already come out of the fountain sprayer and they could not sell them to anyone else. We had to consume them. I asked my family if we could just leave and go somewhere else where customer service was existant and they were fine so I got up, paid our drink tab and we all left to a really good restaurant. I will write a good review about it. The manager/owner of this place is so xxxxxx that he lost 11 patrons just because he wouldn't exchange 2 sprites for 2 cokes. They were not even can or bottle. The guy was pouring them out from that fountain hose looking thing. I bet the cost is pennies. Not smart at all I understand the confusion and how I should have research how words differ here. However, customer satisfaction is global. Im not giving any restaurant a penny more of my money if they cant even change a sprite for a coke. Especially because there was a good reason why. It wasnt that we changed our mind. I explained we were foreigners and for us lemonade is lemons, water, sugar. This guy didnt care about his buisness (lost 11 patrons and possible later referrals plus a bad yelp review) Did not care about his city, New Castle (our fist experience in NC) Did not care about how tourists view his country as a whole. If he is the manager, he should get fired. If he owns the place they should close it down for bad service!!!

But we just put our faith in them, letting them make up a plate of chef's choice (they did take note of our preferences to cater to our particular tastes, which was nice). The sushi arrived beautifully presented and incredibly professional-looking. The flavour combinations were bright and bold, and they were more unique than any other sushi I've had locally. My husband loves what he calls "American sushi" - creative, big rolls instead of just simple, traditional flavors. And this place really nails what we love about sushi in the US without it being over the top. It still feels light, and easy to put a whole piece in your mouth, but there's a lot going on inside the rice. Can't wait to try it again! For those who haven't been, this place is upstairs in The Stack - a complex of shipping containers filled with food and drink venues on the old Odeon site. There's a little seating inside their particular container, but lots more seating outside. There are heat lamps, and they'll bring you your food wherever you're sat.

As my friend said below the maki rolls seemed old, the nori and fish were both off. Interestingly, I ordered a salmon hand roll that was super fresh and very good. So, the sushi seems to be a bit of a hit and miss. I would try the sushi again, but if it was the same I probably wouldnt be returning. As for the rest of the meal I came away thinking I had just ordered too much on the rich side. I had a shredded duck with udon noodle dish. It was very good, but the strong, rich flavor of the duck covered the whole dish and you needed something else to balance it out. Overall though a very good dish that I am already craving again. My mistake was also ordering northern pork dumplings which were also slightly greasy and rich, though very good. Overall the ambiance of this place is very nice, like a traditional noodle house, though very busy and slightly loud at times. The service was adequate though not terribly friendly. I will definitely try Nudo again, but will be more selective about my choices.

HEY! DURHAM! NICE!…read more SO happy to see little Durham finally get decent sushi option. This place is new and a welcome addition to the Durham dining scene. It offers grab-and-go sushi and general Asian options which are all pre-made. They have everything including sashimi, rolls, dumplings, hot noodle soups and desserts. I am bit of a sushi snob and I have to say that this sushi is really decent quality and priced very well for what you get. The salmon was particularly good. They also offer a nice selection of hot green teas in different variations (Japanese silver needle - winner!). Because everything is pre-made in boxes, which you just look through and grab yourself, it makes Nudo a quick take-away option, but they also have seating inside where you can eat your food boxes right there. Bonus for a nice-looking interior and helpful staff, though more seating would be nice as it was very busy during the high of lunch. Overall, couldnt be happier to see this place pop up in Durham.
