She kept the pace steady, without boring us, and was good at keeping everyone engaged. For the workshop, we made two full-sized candles (10 oz jars) and six votives (2 oz jars). All the necessary tools and equipment were provided, including aprons, gloves, and even paper and pencils for notes. There was an impressive variety of scents to choose from, as well as colored jars for the votives, which made it feel very customizable and creative. The workshop costs $90 per person, but if you book from Monday to Thursday, you get 25% off and a free DIY kit to take home. I chose the soap-making kit, which was a lovely bonus. I mean, who doesn't love when things exceed their expectations? This hands-on experience was a blast, and I got to create some amazing bath bombs from scratch with the fabulous team at Yummi Candles. Every detail was spot on: snacks? Check! Drinks? Double check! And let's talk about the genius Yelp swag--a combo snack tray and cup with a boba straw! I mean, who doesn't want to carry snacks and drinks in one hand while crafting? It's a game changer. They even thought of us bag ladies (you know who you are) by providing purse storage for those of us who showed up with oversized bags that could basically double as luggage. Seriously, I needed that extra table space for all the bath bomb magic we were creating! Now, I have to admit, we were so busy mixing and molding that we didn't snap any pictures. But no stress--Yelp had a photographer on hand to capture our fun moments. The timing was perfect, too: 3-4 PM on a Sunday in the beautiful Distillery District. It was just an hour long, leaving us plenty of time to explore the Distillery District, grab a bite and head home to mentally prepare for the workweek ahead. We started with a quick demo and safety training for using the tuffing gun. Long hair are to be tied up to prevent accidents and off we go. For beginners I would choose something with less than 5 colours and less circular edges. I made a Kuromi and my friend did the cat from Kiki's delivery service. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The studio was full and busy but was not crowded. After you finish, the staff will help you to prepare the carpet then you would need to trim the yarn to finish the job. I would recommend this for a fun workshop but do allow 3+ hours to complete your carpet!

Came across Yummi Candles while leaving Restorative Hardware Cafe. It is a pop up shop on your…read moreright just a few steps north of RH. Yummi Candles are known to burn for hours. They are usually sold in bulk for events like weddings. They are also made in Canada. This pop up store is unique because they have a station to customize your own votive scented candles. The votive range from $6-8 which includes the scented candle of your choice. Like I mentioned earlier they usually sell their candles in bulk. In this case, you can't just buy one votive but you have to buy 6. You can choose 6 different scents. The staff here are really helpful and must have a good memory for scent. It takes about an hour for your custom votives to be ready. If you have time you can watch the process. I had bought a set of custom votives in the scent of tobacco and vanilla. I think whoever made my candles did not put enough of the oil in that I didn't smell anything! I had given one to my friend who also had a fragrant-less candle votive. We had it lit for hours! I took it back to the store and they offered to remake it for me but I didn't want to waste time to come all the way back if it was still the same. They were pretty good at getting the permission to give me a refund on my already lit candles. I would have given them a 5 star if I didn't have to return my custom votives. Their already made candles have no problems! The pop up shop is open until the end of the year. It would make a great gift for candle lovers. I've been into this shop several times, but am leaving a full review today…read more The first time I came into the shop, the shopkeeper greeting me very warmly and showed me the selection of wares as I was making my way through the store. First, the shop is so adorable. Decorated and dripping in serotonin, complete with a smooth playing running in the back, it was so healing for my inner child. It's laid out like the interior of a home so there's the living room you can sit and vibe in (while looking at a selection of bongs, tarot and oracle decks, and other cute things), there's a dining space with kitchen ware, an office library space complete with bookshelves and journals, and a bedroom space with sexy fun toys laid on the bed (from women owned businesses). As such the items are fairly and appropriately priced for what their value and purpose is. It's so hard to leave this store because Lindsay is always so so sweet and friendly, very knowledgable on each product and company they come from, and the neighbouring people who come in can proudly vouch for her as well! If you're looking for super cute products and want to support a local Canadian business, please check out this store. There's events that run frequently too so if you're not there to shop, you can come and join in on activities!
