We reserved a spot for three full hook ups on Wednesday and were given site numbers. As we would like to be close together. On Friday (2 days later), they had moved us and we were all separated. So after some work, they were able to get us a little closer together. The grounds are well kept, staff is very friendly and you see them often. I was impressed with how quiet times were followed. The place rolled up by 10. By 10:30 most fires were out. Very quiet over night. No cars in and out. The sites are a little close. But roomy enough to have a group around the fire. All sites are pull through and pretty level. Which was very nice for set up. Some are concrete slab. They have a well built and well maintained dog park. A small fences area where dogs can run free and play together. This is a NICE added feature for those with animals that love to be social. Watch out for the SQUIRRELS!! They are everywhere. So don't leave any good out over night and put garbage in a bin with a lid. Which the park has a lid for every garbage can. Which was nice to see. Campers are very friendly and talkative. They are very respectful not to be really loud and partying. Even though is saw lots of drinking at people's sites. They managed their own. Which was very nice to see. No loud parties or things like that. The campground is small and not a lot to do. They do have a pool. No place to fish. But there are lots of local places to venture out to.

Run down campground for $2,900 a year and vary small lots…read more The manager Mike all he does is drive around and harasses people Soon as you give him your money he will start harassing you and try to kick out and not give you your money back This is a picture of him trying to kick us out While my family is at the pool trying to have fun he call the cops and they did not kick us out because we didn't do anything wrong. Also look at his hand he will yell in your face if you have any kind of drink in the pool yet he will brake all the rules himself I have videos of him telling me he is going to pull my camper out himself and leave it outside the campground had to make a report for it and cops told him to not touch my stuff or he will be arrested do yourself a favor and go somewhere else lots of other good campgrounds around that are nice

Note: this is a seasonal campground not a nightly or weekly campground…read more We were evicted from our seasonal (4/15-10/15) on Mallard Bend RV resort by the Property Manager. We've not only lost power for long periods of time that resulted in a $300 generator fuel expense on our part, but can not get a true electric bill or meter reading report upon request. We have requested a meter reading report after being "told" our latest bill equaled the previous month bill (yet we were off property for 3 weeks with our motor home ). I refused to pay the bill until I had documentation. We learned meter readings are not done the first day of the month, but whenever he got around to do it. My husband was informed if I call the owners we would be evicted. We received a notification an hour after the threat was made even though NO phone call was made (I guess I was hopeful that the manager would be forthright with dates, meter readings and bills). I was willing to pay what we owe upon documentation. The day after I got the written eviction notice, I called the phone number and got an automated service that gave 4 options. 1) make reservations 2)speak to property manager 3) directory by name. I tried 3 different names being told each was invalid. I did leave a voicemail, option 4, but no return call was made to us. As I researched our rights, we have none on a campground. The campground can evict on any reason they choose. So we are leaving because I wanted documentation of electric usage! Friends, this is NOT how you run a business or campground. A grounds/maintenance person is not an administrator. What owner doesn't Audit the books and employees? I don't think a hands off approach by owners is good business. PERIOD.

Cosy Corners is a small, family owned campground, quite literally in the couples backyard! Barbara and Dave, the owners were fantastic and absolutely went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience with them. For example, I needed ice from the store and was given a ride in their golf cart. At one point it rained pretty heavily and as soon as it stopped, they came out to offer us all towels. the couple have a vast knowledge of the area and spent a good while talking with us about the things we could do 'off the beaten path'. Did I mention that this campground is at the entrance to Matthiessen State Park and only a mile south of Starved Rock!! Perfect placement. Also, you don't have to worry about the alcohol bans in the state parks if you stay here. The campsite was dog friendly provided the pups stay on leash. The only thing I could say that may put you off would be that there is no shower facility! This didn't bother us, we are experienced campers and had no issue showering under a hose. there are a couple of hoses around so you can access running water. Oh, anther thing! The cleanest camping porta johns I have ever used. They smelled clean and were also lit at night! OK, I could go on all day. I had a fantastic experience and every one of the 10 people in my group on the Saturday night swore they would return. The service provided by Barbara and Dave is second to none! I can't wait to go back!

Of course, there's tons of other things to see around it. The popular activities include boating, fishing, and picnicking. Bigger park with a lot of history. It's an area that was purchased by the state in 1969 and turned into a park. The park was originally 1,250 acres, and added a prairie restoration project in 1980 among expansions since. Kind of what the land was like before settlers took it. There's a path that goes through it where visitors can check out animals, grass, and wildflowers. A few man made lakes are highlights. Loon Lake is the biggest one, popular for fishing or getting photos. A refreshment stand is located by it. The spring is the biggest attraction of the park though. Amazingly the water in it never freezes. There's amazing plantlife around it including watercress. Also fun when it's colder. There's a toboggan hill that's fairly steep. Among the kinds of trails are equestrian. There's also plenty for basic hiking. Has lots to look at here for hours and you can even stay overnight by camping. It's got an area that's available for youth groups. This area is only reachable through backpacking so it's far away from loud noises or vehicles.
