My bestie and I were walking around the beautiful downtown city of Fort Collins and ran into this lovely little boutique with tons of different plants on display at the window. We had to go in and check it out! The house plant selection was gorgeous and the different shirts, dresses, kids clothes, jewelry, knickknacks and little stickers were alllllllllll ADORABLE. The owner Madeline was seriously such a sweetie and made sure to check in that we were finding everything okay. We chatted about our cats and favorite house plants and had genuine and friendly small talk. She recommended a few other shops around the area, and we took her advice and stopped at each one, but hers for sure was our favorite by far. She was obviously in love with her job and proud to be the owner of this pretty City Kitty and it really made her and her whole shop glow. We really enjoyed meeting her and seeing her positive attitude brighten up the already shining shop. Being a small individually owned shop, I found the prices fair and was completely glued to this cute little black Colorado wildflower tee, which I ended up buying :) my friend grabbed a necklace, a very similar wildflower tank top and really cute sticker. We had a hard time deciding what to pick, there were SO many cute choices! I'm definitely going to go back and pick out some of the precious kid clothes/books for my sister's baby due in October and definitely some more goodies for myself. Such unique, funny and really creative things for sale, such a personable experience. I took pictures of the delightful items my friend and I picked up but I really wish I would have taken pictures of the actual store, either way you need to go check this place out for yourself. I really love looking through this store. But that's all I can do. Only look. They only stock certain sizes of clothing (all small, what a surprise) and even the jewelry is smaller sizes. Not one ring has ever fit my fingers--and I'm a ring size 8. I'm a size 14 in pants. I should be able to walk into a store and find SOMETHING. But not here. I would love to be able to shop here--but I can't. I'll take my money somewhere else more inclusive. read more

Now THIS is boutique shopping at its finest! I was recently in Fort Collins for vacation and stopped into this adorable shop. It is rare to be greeted in a genuine way and to have the people helping you out be super honest. I thought a dress I had tried on didn't look very flattering, but I asked the assistant also. She was honest with me and said she agreed. I love that she didn't try to sell me a dress that didn't look good on my frame! The store is filled with a variety of fun stuff - quirky yet feminine jewelry, beautiful fabrics and designs, and everything was very unique and seemed one of a kind. Plus, the prices were extremely reasonable. Being someone who can't afford $70 t-shirts, I really enjoyed looking around and finding cute things. I love stores that support local talent. Upon walking in, the staff greet you with smiles and friendliness. There is a vending machine with pins to the right -- 50 cents per pin. I couldn't resist and got a "save ferris" pin. Brilliant! haha There are a lot of cute items here -- Rings and necklaces with silhouettes of skulls or faces (which tend to be played out, but they're still cute) There are vintage head wraps in the back and cute books make out of recycled album covers. There are a lot of cute items to peruse. It is a bit expensive -- but all the items are made with love and care. read more

I love Kansas City Kitty! A friend had told me about them a few years ago, and I've loved them since. They don't have the greatest location because it's around the corner and down the block from everything else, but oh well. Pretty ecclectic. Once when I was there, they had a rack of local designers and I got a super cute shirt...I don't know if they still do, it's been awhile. AND to top it off, they sell diesel...love!! read more

KCK is easily my favorite store in Old Town. Maybe in the whole town. The staff is super stylish and friendly. They always greet you with a smile and are willing to help you find one of many treasures in this amazing store. They always have amazing clothing and accessories. One of my favorites are the soy candles that turn into lotion! The owners are hard working ladies who have done an amazing job turning their dream into a hip place to shop that is also affordable. This is my favorite place to shop for clothes in town. It's small and personal so you get tons of friendly help and no one else knows where you got what you're wearing. They sell their stuff quickly so if you only see one in your size, you should buy it! Also, the sale rack has fantastic deals on everything. Fort Collins is lucky to have this little gem. Kansas City Kitty is not only a fabulous clothing store with tons of fun trinkets to look at, but they also support local crafters and have tons of local things you can buy. Love it! The clothes are fabulous and fun...some things are out of my price range, but still completely cute and fun. I also love that this is a local small business that has weathered the recession, stayed in business and has only become bigger and better. Favorite KCK moment? Their anniversary party in 2010 that included Tickle Me Pink & Rise Against IN THE STORE. Not kidding! It's not every day that you see Rise Against in a place that holds 70 people (max), and for that matter...at a fancy little clothing store. There is now a hair salon in the back of the store called The Spot. I suggest everyone check it out, as I've seen some cute cuts come from there, great products and a fun little vintage vibe. I am in love with Kansas City Kitty! I discovered this store while I was visiting my sister and make a point to come back every time I am in Colorado. First off, their clothes are so cute, comfortable, and reasonably priced. I've boughten a few items and worn them... A lot... And they hold up fabulously. I've also boughten an essential oil candle that smells fantastic and when the candle has been used up the cute little mug it sits can be used as a coffee mug- what a great idea! The other wonderful thing about KCK is the customer service. Every time I have been I have been greeted right away, assisted with sizes, and thanked for my purchase; which somehow doesn't happen all that often anymore.. Keep up the great work ladies! I found my most recent set of jeans here, and I will own them until they get holes and I absolutely have to get rid of them. They fit great on me. All of their other clothes are really cute, too. I really love all the clothes, they're very cute but I couldn't even look at them because the lady working would not leave me alone. There's a difference between being friendly and helpful and then harassing someone. She came up to me six times in the ten minutes I was in there and I eventually just had to checkout and leave because I had one shirt in my hand that she either was going to harass me until I tried it on, even though I know my t-shirt size, or force me to set it at the counter, even though I wasn't finished looking. I'm not sure if she thought I was stealing? Or what but it was very frustrating. read more
