Very thorough and knowledgeable. High quality medical care. Not a judgmental man, instead tends to be understanding and very reasonable.

My parents managed to successfully contact Dr. Kwak's office and make appointments for today. They were handed a stack of paperwork to fill out at the office after they had been there a while, which was confusing because they had filled out a "stack" online already. Buried somewhere in the stack today was an existing policy that if you don't give them a credit card upfront, you won't see the doctor. And since my parents are on Medicare and everything gets charged that way, my parents were uncomfortable doing so and ended up leaving without seeing the doctor, after being there for about half an hour (why they waited til my parents had already been sitting there for a while to hand over the paperwork in which this policy is buried, I have zero clue). I tried to look up the doc online to see if he has a website where I could see sample paperwork or a policy page myself but I have yet to find one (I acknowledge I might have missed it). So please be advised before making an appointment or visiting the office, IF YOU DO NOT PROVIDE A CREDIT CARD UPFRONT, YOU CANNOT SEE THE DOCTOR.

I have a lot of really good things to say about Dr Weiss. The reasons that I have given her a less…read morethan stellar rating are mainly the practice where she works and the people on her staff. 1. My wife and I both find the front office staff rude and abrupt to the point of being alienating. They have been this way more or less for the 2 years we have been going to this office. We feel hesitant to even go into the office given this belligerent attitude. 2. It is very difficult to get an appointment unless it's an emergency and then they can get you in the same day but not necessarily with Dr Weiss. You can wait up to three months to get an appointment for a physical. The office continually recommends you see a nurse instead of Dr Weiss due to her schedule. What is the point of having a primary care physician if they continue to try and schedule you with some other person? 3. On a recent appointment I was suppose to see Dr Weiss - according to the front desk - but the doctor had left by the time I arrived on time for the appointment. Instead I saw a nurse practitioner and she basically said she couldn't find anything wrong with me but if my symptoms persisted I should get a chest x-ray and to call the office to schedule. After continuing to feel bad I called the office to arrange for an x-ray but they gave me the run around and never bothered to call me back that day. I eventually went to see another doctor and he properly diagnosed me very quickly. Also, the staff and nurses at this new office were very professional and friendly. Dr Weiss is a very good doctor but surrounded by less than professional staff. I also think she needs to do something about her schedule - what is the point of having a primary care physician if you cant see her? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am adding to this review after another unpleasant experience with Dr Weiss' office. I asked the office staff to send me my medical records on a jumpdrive so I could give them to my new physician. They did so - but they sent it to the WRONG address, an address I haven't lived at for over 5 months. What is it with these people? Now my medical information is god knows where. Again, if you haven't heard enough to avoid this office totally I would just be careful going forward.

Scheduling is very efficient, the staff is friendly and courteous, and Dr. Newman immediately put me at ease. This is a very professional clinic and sees only adult patients, I believe. Most communication is backed up with email reminders and an online portal so you can complete all your paperwork ahead of time so you don't need to get there so early the first time. I had my labs drawn during my first visit and the results were available after one week, viewable through my DPI "portal", and Dr. Newman called me personally to explain them, without my prompting. I highly recommend this clinic. The excellent, friendly patient care really shines when paired with it's easy and transparent web presence. It is very professional and I have full confidence that my heath is in good hands with the men and women working there.

They established a patient portal where one can e-mail a nurse, but the e-mails are often misunderstood (i.e. they sent a prescription to Wal-Mart instead of Walgreens). Recently, I asked for a refill of a particular prescription. Instead of filling up a 30 day supply, I ended up getting TWO pills! That's $7.50 a pill...! I am going to look around for another primary care doctor. They do have a nice facility in a professional building, but looks can be deceiving. If you have other medical options, explore them.

My interaction with all of the staff, be it the front desk to the nurses to the PA's and doctors has been very positive. Clearly they care and it shows in their bedside manner, patience to clarify the silliest of doubts and sheer courteousness. The treatment approach is also very methodical & logical which I personally find to be a good practice. On the rare occasion that I had to make an urgent appointment, they did accommodate very well. Recently they shifted to a different location on Hollister Dr (from the previous one on Milwaukee Av). The office has a good, clean & comforting environment - nothing fancy but that's not what am looking for anyways. North Shore Primary Care, Dr. Weiss and her team are someone whom I would surely recommend to family & friends.

She follows up on tests, she has great suggestions about recommending specialists, and she is very knowledgable. Actually, she is the first internist I have had in whom I have complete confidence. It's also quite convenient that there are several PA's in the office for when you need a quick appointment and Dr. Weiss is not available. No qualms about recommending her!!
