It's #ThankYouThursday, and as part of it, I wanted to thank a medical provider, given everything that's going on. And Kaplan Barron is at the top of my list for this! My husband and I have been taking our son to this office since he was born last year. And throughout, we have been so impressed with their compassion, professionalism and knowledge. You can read my previous review for a lot of the nuts and bolts of this. And since I wrote that, we've had to take my son to this office on a few occasions, especially after he started daycare and inevitably got colds and minor sicknesses. Each time, we were able to either get some answers quickly via the phone or get an appointment, usually the same day. They have also been on top of switching what they could to telemedicine during this pandemic and working to keep everyone as safe as possible. It's a relief to know that my son is in such great hands with Dr. Slone and the rest of the providers at this office. read more

We absolutely love the Kaplan Barron Pediatric Group. There are multiple doctors in the practice and wonderful hours for working parents that need an evening or weekend appt. My parents used Kaplan Barron group when we were little, now that I have my son, I am still using Kaplan Barron. All the doctors, nurses, office staff, EVERYONE cares for the kids that have medical needs as if they were their own children. My son never minds going to the doctor and we go often with his adhd needs. Dr. Belza is amazing, but all the doctors are. Highly recommend their practice. read more

Best thing about this place...anytime I call they always work me in on the same day. They also have evening and weekend appointments. They have been the pediatricians for both my kids since birth, so 13 years! We love our doctors and the office staff and nurses are always wonderful. It's a large practice, but you always get individual care and never feel rushed when you're meeting with the doctors. read more

All the staff and docs at Kaplan Barron have been wonderful in the 15 months that I've been taking my daughter there. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and understanding. I appreciate that there are separate waiting areas for well and sick kiddos. The new toys in said waiting area are great too and help pass the time. Thankfully we haven't had to wait much more than 10-15 minutes in the waiting area and just a few minutes once back in the room. The extended hours and ability to call even after hours and get a response especially when you're a new mama help tremendously. Thank you for all you do. I would definitely recommend. read more

These people are amazing and took very good care of us. After searching everywhere in Louisville to help me transfer my children's immunization records due to our cross country move they took us in day of and seen my children so they would not be excluded from school. Every thing about the reception, nurses and doctor was awesome and they will definitely be our primary care now. I also noticed the flexibility on hours and days they are open. The entire staff is friendly, they get us in quickly, and we love that Dr.Sloan is realistic and speaks to us like a family friend (the kind you actually WANT advice from) we couldn't be more pleased with the level of care. We met Dr. Abrams in 2016 when she did a baby class at Baptist East while I was pregnant. My husband and I decided in that moment we wanted her to my our daughters doctor. Come to find out, when I told one of our best friends about them, she said that's where their kids went, and where he husband went as a child! So we knew we made the right choice. Dr. Abrams is just a truly caring physician, and seems genuinely interested in our daughters well being, which you don't always receive with doctors. We've had interactions with many of the other doctors there as well, and have always felt cared for. The nurses are absolutely wonderful, and there office staff is the only medical office staff I have ever liked anywhere. I highly recommend Kaplan Barren! read more

The Dr.s are good, but the office staff including their manager is just downright awful. We left after a dispute with the office manager that was handled in a very disrespectful manor. After the insurance disputed the charge they filed a judgment against us, never again. Don't bother unless you are a perfect documenter, keep all receipts and never ever pay cash! read more

Absolutely love this doctors office. Everyone is personable and honest. When I was a child Dr. Roth was my pediatrician and I absolutely loved him. Now as a mother I knew my daughter had to go there as well. She absolutely loves all the Doctors but her fave us Dr. Lehocky he can get on her level so she responds well to him. If you're looking for a new pediatrician this place is the best and all the doctors and staff are helpful. read more

Kaplan Barron is where I went from newborn to 18. So happy I can take my son here. All the doctors and staff are amazing. Very patient, very kind, and always answer all of my questions. Dr. Lehocky takes his time with you and truly cares about my son. Could not ask for a better pediatrician for my little one. This is a great practice!!! All of the Doctors who we have come in contact with, and it's most of them, have been great. Dr Johnson is our actual Dr. and she is fantastic!!! Our daughter has a pretty thick file and they have always done there best we feel! The hours our great, they will get you in any day!!! Even on the weekends!!! Not to mention it's about 5-10 mins from our house. read more

As a new mother of a 9 year old foster child with special needs I needed guidance on establishing a pediatrician in our area. Dr. Katz and this practice came highly recommended. The front staff, the nurses, and the front office staff manager were all very disappointing. A place that specializes in the health and well-being of children didn't care at all about my search to find a doctor for my child. I would've hoped to have heard some compassion in their voices or someone who would go a little bit of the extra mile to help a new mom on the journey of fostering. Such a disappointment I'm not sure I would even consider taking a puppy to this place. read more

They care for our 3 kids, and it's always top-notch. We recently went for a routine check and had a wonderful experience as usual. We felt very safe with their COVID precautions. I was very disappointed and offended by the service of the front desk people at this pediatric office, and at times, a couple of the doctors. I had been taking my child here for 2.5 years, since birth. Our insurance had recently changed, and we had been paying out of pocket for sick visits over the last several months, and were current on ALL payments. The last time I took him in for a sick visit I was told they did not accept my insurance and they refused to see my child, and instructed me to go elsewhere, despite my child being a lifetime patient there. We had been in and out of this office for 5-6 months trying to figure out what was going on with him, with high fevers, dry cough during exertion, sneezing, etc, each time seeing a different Doctor. Every time I expressed I suspected he was beginning to sound asthmatic, and each time they said because of his age (2.5) there was no way of knowing. They never suggested a specialist. There were other discrepancies that were often poo pooed and ignored. I have since taken my child to an allergist who did say he is beginning to show signs of asthma and has allergies, and early intervention and mitigation is best. It's very frustrating because I was highly satisfied with the care my child received from the doctor (Lehocky) he saw for checkups at Kaplan Barron, but due to his amazing bedside manner and popularity, is difficult to see on a random sick visit. I am disappointed and hurt that when my child was ill and I expressed my concerns about his symptoms and asthma, they were ignored by other doctors in the practice, and I felt like just another number being shuffled through--not a person. I understand these people do this for a living and deal with sick children and concerned parents every day, but it would be nice to be treated with some respect. The front desk workers are the worst. I feel like they dont even see my face--they just bark for an insurance card and slam their glass divider shut. If there is a break down in the process, i.e., the computer doesnt take the insurance card, they say they are waiting for approval from their office manager, who is never there or cannot be reached. They really dont give a rats patoot if you have to sit there all day waiting for said office manager--if that person even exists--so long as they can click around on their computers and act like they are doing work behind their special, super important and impersonal glass divider. We have since moved to another pediatric office. I am now understanding there is a loophole in the Hippocratic oath if the office trolls are refusing service. It's just sad that doctors allow their office trolls to treat people this way and turn away sick children--especially ones who have been going to that office since birth. read more

We have been with this practice for 18 years. Every single doctor is thorough, caring and compassionate. We are always able to get in quickly with very little wait time. The staff is kind, friendly and efficient. I'm so glad we chose this group to care for our now six month girl! They have both a well and sick entrance. They provide late office hours Mon. - Thurs. and are open for a few hours on saturday as well. We see Dr. Johnson and she is nice, informative and willing to answer any questions! They have a triage line that allows you to ask questions and see if an actual visit is warranted. We have used it several times and once a M.D. called me back directly and even called in a prescription for our girl! It's a great supportive place for new parents like myself. read more

On every visit to KB pediatrics over the past 5 years we have been well cared for. We have been treated by several of the doctors and they are all friendly, thorough and knowledgeable practitioners. Dr. Newstadt always treats my family with expertise, care, and calm reassurance. I trust his judgment completely and am thrilled with all four of my children's care. Luckily, my children tend to be healthy with the common illnesses all kids get. However, Dr. Newstadt did catch a serious Illness in my then 2-month-old that required an immediate hospital admission. This practice is one of the few who have privileges at the children's hospital meaning we got to see pediatricians we were comfortable with and who knew us well while in the hospital. From the medical assistants and office staff to the physicians, the practice feels like a family who are dedicated to their patients. read more

Dr. Katz cares for all 4 of my children. He is attentive and knowledgeable. He is evidence based and non judgmental. We appreciate him as well as Jenny the nurse who works with him. My two kids go here and on most occasions I have called in to make appointments and have been fine. However, if you have any questions it is hit or miss. They do not take criticism well. The last time we went here our daughter was experiencing some issue with an allergic reaction and my son needed a referral to a specialist. I was told I needed to speak to a different person than the staff at the front office. So I scheduled an appointment for later that day and was transferred to the other person. I waited more than an hour and never heard back. I called back to talk to someone as it was urgent that I speak to someone regarding my son and was put on hold for several minutes and hung up on. I called back furious at this point and was put on hold for another 5 minutes and then when someone answered I got nothing but an attitude. No apologies for the way I was treated as a concerned parent. If you need to speak to an office manager or any other staff other than the doctor be prepared to get treated like a second class citizen. My issues with billing and referrals have still gone unsolved to this day. The doctors can be top notch. But recently, during our appointment for our daughter's allergic reaction we have found out that our daughter has a vitamin K deficiency and the office here is not equipped to deal with the blood work needed to find this out. My daughter had been bruising easily and the main concern of the doctor was to judge me as the parent and jump to the conclusion that we abuse our children. They sent us to the ER downtown where more of the same happened. It has been a nightmare ever since. Being a concerned parent is never enough at this place. read more

I take my 18 month here and have been very pleased. I typically see Dr. Johnson, who has been great. The staff is very efficient and pleasant. They are very supportive of different parenting styles (although I had a friend get some ending breast feeding pressure from Dr. Neustadt, I have never run into any pushiness). The office doesn't look like the newest place, but it is run incredibly well and they can do almost anything in house, plus they will visit your child at a hospital, if that is needed. Dr. Lehocky is also super great with children with disabilities! read more

The doctors associated with this group are nice and have decent besisde manners, but their billing staff is a nightmare. Disorganized, incompetent, nasty and lazy doesn't even begin to cover it. They talk over the customer, interrupt and hang up in the hopes of bullying the customer into paying for costs to which they are not responsible. They refuse to do any follow-up on easily resolvable reimbursement issues. They will bill you for contract write offs, incidental services or claims that have already been paid by the insurance. The insurance company will have to intervene in order to pull their contract before they back off. read more
