My friend got the Chicken Breast Kabob ($14.98) which was 1 skewer of chicken breast kabobs, rice, salad and naan bread. My Chicken Shami was moist and very flavourful. It was well marinated and quite tasty. The rice was soft and fluffy. The salad was fresh, but a bit boring with just iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers and red onions. Be warned that the non-creamy sauce that looks like salad dressing is very spicy. Unless you love hot spicy food, do not make the mistake that my friend made by dumping all that sauce on the salad without tasting it first, lol. The white creamy sauce was not spicy, and tasted good with the chicken. I'm actually not sure which one is supposed to go on the salad, lol. The naan flatbread was fantastic and my favourite part of the meal. It was a bit crispy on the outside, but had a good amount of chew to it. There were some small blisters on the bread. I love blistery bread! I will be dreaming of this bread. Yeah, it was that good! Since we were in the midst of the second wave of the Covid-19 Pandemic during our visit, indoor dining was closed again, so it was takeout only. They normally have a lot of seating indoors. They don't have a patio. Service was efficient. There's free parking in the plaza parking lot.

Their lamb tikki kabob and chicken tandoori kaboob are very good along with their eggplant qorma. Pricing is pretty good as well. I'm not as big of a fan of their naan bread (a bit drier than what you get with an indian restaurant) but that could be a matter of preference.

I may have waited a bit longer but it felt like every dish was prepared with love the way this type of cuisine should be prepared and served. My dad loves variety, so I got the Mix Kebab Meal for 4 ($109.99) which comes with chicken shawarma, beef shawarma, chicken breast kebab, beef steak kebab, chicken wings, 2 different types of ground red meat kebabs, salad, bread, and your choice of rice or bulgur (and I requested half and half). I added 2 orders of the Sigari Boregi ($7.49) as well. I called in my order and it was ready for pickup in 30 minutes. Service was quick and efficient. The food was a hit. As expected, my dad loved the variety. My brother and sister-in-law enjoyed it too. We were 6 adults and it was plenty of food. We even had some leftovers. All the meats were delicious. Very flavourful and moist and tender. The rice was plain white rice, but the texture was great. Soft and fluffy. The bulgur was also soft and fluffy. The meats also came with grilled tomatoes and grilled jalapeno peppers. The peppers were really spicy. There were also 2 small containers of a creamy garlicky sauce, which was also good. The salad was excellent. In addition to lettuce, there were red onions, carrots, cabbage, tomatoes and crumbled feta cheese. It came with 2 small containers of creamy salad dressing and a small container of oil. We didn't use the oil, but the dressing was delicious. The Sigari Boregi were rolls of phyllo pastry with salty cheese. They were crispy and tasty, but a bit too salty for my liking. Although we got takeout, they have plenty of seats for dining in. The meal was a bit more than what we usually spend, but it was well worth it. Lots of free parking available in the plaza where the restaurant is located. It's next to the Real Fruit Bubble Tea and is where the King Shawarma used to be (was a Prince Shawarma before that). (53)

As I…read morewas waiting the lady came over and advised me that they didn't have enough ingredients for a full order of Manto, so they could make me a half order of Manto and a half order of Ashak. I was fine with that, especially since it would allow me to try two different types of dumplings, lol. I really enjoyed them! Although my order wasn't quite half of each, as I got 3 Manto and 5 Ashak. The Manto are dumplings with ground meat inside. The Ashak are dumplings with leeks inside. Both dumplings had the same wrapper, which was thin and had a nice texture. The ground meat was well seasoned. The leeks were soft and mild in flavour. Overall I enjoyed them both, but liked the Manto better. I loved the creamy sauce they were in and the sprinkling of split peas over the Mantoo. I also got a tiny piece of lean meat thrown into the container. Although I got takeout, I did sit in the restaurant to wait for my food. The restaurant is really pretty inside. There were no other customers dining there at 8:45pm, but there was a steady stream of Uber and Skip the Dishes drivers picking up food. I will be back for more Manto and to try their other dishes. The restaurant is in a strip mall with lots of free parking.

The way I see it - the more I learn, the more I grow and the more I can share with others so that we can all grow and celebrate diversity together! Tonight, I had my first ever Pakistani food experience and it was a flavourful and colourful one! As soon as I walked through the doors of Khokha, a resto that recently opened up in Barrhaven, I was greeted by the wonderful scent of spices and a colourful vibe from the murals on their walls. I felt so welcomed and it felt so familiar despite me never trying this cuisine before. I ordered the Khokha Roll - a handmade flat bread filled with chapli (beef) kabab, Khokha sauce, onions and cilantro. All the flavours worked so well together. I also got their Mango Milkshake (lassi), which was nice and creamy. It helped balance the spices of the Khokha Roll. For dessert, I got the Carrot Halwa - cardamom flavoured traditional carrot pudding served with nuts. It was yummy and reminded me a little of carrot cake! I've also tried their Biryani and it's delicious as it is colourful! Have you tried out Khokha yet?
